    Adventure!

I am looking for a caching partner to share expenses on a geotrip to the southwest (the four-corner states of AZ-NM-CO-UT) in July, August, or September. It could be either 4-5 days by plane (about 20-25 smilies) or 13-15 days by car (over 100 smilies… which could very easily include Nashville for even more finds). This is a one-time adventure. Call me at 516-616-4202. Or e-mail me: zbilicki@usa.net * * * * * * * * For ongoing weekly adventures, keep reading. Let me introduce myself… I am The_Z_Man from Long Island, NY. You are invited to join my in-the-field adventures on how to cache more efficiently. Some might call these classes or even courses in Geocaching… I prefer adventures. This is my effort at giving back to the Geocaching community some of what it has given me. But you ask “how do I know I won’t be wasting my time?” Here are my credentials as of June 5, 2005… 1,790 caches found in 44 states plus Washington, D. C. since July 2003. Rank by caches found: #1 on Long Island, #2 in New York State and 167th in the world. Please visit my profile page: http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=5c...1d-09f0d13604ad Overall average of about 2.5 caches per day… and in recent months it has increased to about 5 caches per day on average. This is done in just two (rarely three) days of caching per week. When caching by myself… 10-15 finds in a day is routine… with another cacher 15-20… with THREE in the hunt 25-30 finds is normal. The last time FOUR of us hit Pennsylvania we got 38 smilies (finds) added to our totals in one day. HERE IS HOW IT WORKS. All adventures leave my house in my car… no caravans (you can’t learn if you are not in the car). Maximum of four persons per trip (from here on I will use adventure, class, course, and trip interchangeably). I have a large car and four persons ride very comfortably. There is ample all-day parking on the street for your vehicle near my home on the Queens-Nassau border where I live with my wife, the lovely InkyCat, who has been very helpful with this project. On Mondays through Saturdays there are two basic types of adventures. Take your pick. 1. All day from sunup to sundown… into CT, NJ, PA, or upstate NY, for those who primarily want to add to their numbers and learn how to cache efficiently on their own. 2. A much shorter day with under one hour drive time… for those who primarily cache to see and enjoy new sights (numbers are secondary)… but still want more finds. Sunday afternoons will be reserved for those who just want to talk high-tech Geocaching and stay on the Island or go into the City… hit a few caches and learn (all of us from each other). * * * * * * All you need to bring to any of these classes is your GPSr. I will supply (and demonstrate) all the greatest Geocaching software and hardware. I understand that the above will not appeal to all… and maybe not even to most. But I do know that some of you will love it. I have received a number of phone calls and e-mails over the past several months asking for advice on the use of various software programs and on what equipment to purchase. Frankly, I wasn’t able to do very much over the phone. There are just too many variables involved. But I know that these trips will be productive. They will get your questions answered… on how to find caches more efficiently. I hope some of you will want more information. I am a person who likes a phone call. Call me at 516-616-4202. Or e-mail me: zbilicki@usa.net Or e-mail your phone number and I will call you. Let me know what kind of adventure you want AND on what day of the week you want to go. I look forward to your call.
  2. I am going to close this thread since the first three responses have nothing to do with my topic and could be confusing to some

  4. Congratulations on #300... way to go BM Squared!
  5. My that was fast... 1,000 to 1,100! Keep on caching Neil.
  6. Congratulations to Mike and Nikki... finders of my lost camera. How's your new camera working out? The one you bought... not the one you found?
  7. Welcome to The 1K Club. Best wishes on your next 1,000.
  8. Congratulations, Trowel32. Hope to meet you on the trails again.
  9. How about this... I arrange my trip to the southwest so as not to coincide with your trip to VT. Then I go to VT and you come to the 4-corner states with me.
  10. On Wednesday, May 4th I lost my expensive Kodak camera in NJ. Today I have it back. I want to publicly thank Mike and Nikki (JerseyTrex) for finding AND then returning it. I am sure their honesty will be rewarded. A few others helped in the search once learning of my lost. I thank them as well. We have a great geocaching community in this area.
  11. Avro, don't you know... it's because Neil likes you! The fact you're from NJ means nothing to him.
  12. For sharing your knowledge and skills with the rest of us. You're welcome, Avro. I just sent my wife your funny and very nice writing under your link: "You'll be ok... it doesn't look that bad... . (visit link)" She is good with words also.
  13. See you on Saturday, Avro. Question? Thanks for what?

But you ask “how do I know I won’t be wasting my time?” Here are my credentials as of April 28, 2005… 1,603 caches found in 44 states plus Washington, D. C. since July 2003. Rank by caches found: #2 in New York State and 183rd in the world. Please visit my profile page: http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=5c...1d-09f0d13604ad Overall average of about 2.5 caches per day… and in recent months it has increased to about 5 caches per day on average. The last time FOUR of us hit Pennsylvania we got 38 smilies (finds) added to our totals in one day. More eyes and more legs mean more caches found more quickly. Obviously, it takes more than just paperless caching to achieve these results. Equipment and techniques are essential. HERE IS HOW IT WORKS. All adventures leave from my house in my car… no caravans (you can’t learn if you are not in the car). On Mondays through Thursdays there will be two basic types of adventures. 1. All day from before sunup to after sundown… into CT, NJ, PA, or upstate NY, for those who primarily want to add a lot to their numbers and learn how to cache efficiently on their own. 2. Much shorter day with under one hour drive time… for those who primarily cache to see and enjoy new sights (numbers are secondary)… but still want more finds. I rarely cache on Fridays (but there are exceptions). My Saturdays are spent caching with friends (who have helped me develop and improve these ever changing techniques)... but there is sometimes room for one or even two more. These trips are always long and far. And they start at my place at about 5 am and end after dark. Sunday afternoons will be reserved for those of you who just want to talk high-tech Geocaching and stay on the Island or go into the City… hit a few caches and learn (all of us from each other). * * * * * * All you need to bring to any of these classes is your GPSr. I will supply (and demonstrate) all the greatest Geocaching software and hardware. 15. Congratulations on 900 Joe. Now the fun begins!
  16. Good luck on your next 1,000 my friend. Congratulations.
  17. Good luck on the next 1,500 my friend. Congratulations!
  18. Thanks to all for the nice words and encouragement. In a week I will leave for the northwest... and cache in OR, WA, ID, NV, and CA. Are we having fun yet... yes!
  19. Congratulation Mark... proof that you can find them as well as hide them.
  20. Congratulations... Joe and Neil. And now the pressure to reach 1,000.
  21. Welcome to the Big K Club. Great personal achievement.
  22. Good luck on your next 100 Duck Poppa... and congratulations. I like cemetery caches.
  23. Congratulations on the big #500. Hope to see you again on the trails.
  24. The red check marks don't appear on the gc.com maps for caches I found over a week ago. Has this Premium service been discontinued? Or has the update interval been increased? When should they appear? I find these red checks useful and was just wondering.
