  1. obviously you missed that entire CSI episode... Obviously
  2. I suppose they don't even have Yiffers done right. Course, that would probably offend the people who write in to papers and complain Dagwood kissing Blondie at the door is too racy and got their heart all a-flutter and dander up. I had to google yiffer to find out what you were talking about. The fact that you know the word is a thing that makes me say, "hmmm"...
  3. They showed a picture on the show, and called it "Globocache" GLOBO. WTF is that? Stupid. And now its a puzzle cache. One of the writers must be a geocacher.
  4. BTW, bummer for geocaching.com. If they used the actual site's name, it might boost traffic immensely. They don't even call it geocaching. A newbie might not find this site...
  5. Oh, and on this show it is Globocache.
  6. I'll pass. Sounds like the reason I don't watch television anymore, the writing stinks. True true. Sadly, the show pretty much stinks. It's just on after LOST, and I'm in a hotel.
  7. The whole episode revolves around geocaching! My wife and I always said this would make for a great story on a mystery cop show of some sorts. Someone must have heard us.
  8. So, I'm watching The Forgotten on ABC. It's about someone who leaves a child's bones in a geocache. They mention things related to geocaching (but they call it global caching). Some kid even mentioned "TFTC, thanks for the cache". Check it out now!
  9. On that note, although it is fantastic that Cachemate will be usable. We will want to be able to make full use of the Pre GPSr. So, hopefully someone will develop a native app for the Pre. And I'm sure someone will. And hopefully a free app.
  10. Hey there. PalmOS is most definitely supported: http://mypre.com/pre-view-mypres-hands-on-...-app-2009021189
  11. I've had an Etrex, and a PN-40. The PN-40 has quite a bright screen. Although the Oregon is no where near as bright as the PN-40, I find absolutely nothing wrong with it. In direct light, if I angle it the right way, it is completely readable without the backlight. Probably around 20 finds so far, and I have ZERO complaints regarding screen brightness. For geocaching it is fine. For other hobbies, such as bicycling or off-roading, with no hands being free, it might be a bit difficult. I couldn't be happier with my Oregon 300. Just got the newest City Navigator NT USA, the Garmin Auto Navigation kit, ZAGG invisibleshield screen protector, and a detachable lanyard. This is almost the perfect geocaching device. If it had hi-res maps like the DeLorme PN series, and a slightly brighter screen, it would be perfect. Or almost perfect. I find it hard to believe that you can't charge rechargeable batteries while in the unit, and have it plugged into a USB device. I'm digressing. -Adam
  12. If I'm not mistaken, the Garmin Oregon is also marketed as WAAS enabled. Are they being investigated by the FTC? I've owned the PN-40 and the Garmin Oregon 300. They are both fantastic devices, and amazingly accurate. Each has their pluses and minuses. As a Mac user, the Oregon is a tad more friendly with my computer. But, as a GPSr for geocaching, they are both great. -Adam
  13. Hey there. I definitely don't want to break up the package. I would like to sell it as a combo deal. Thanks though!
  14. Hey there. I need to sell my DeLorme PN-40, fully loaded. I purchased this back in November 2008, and LOVE it. Unfortunately, do to extenuating circumstances, I have to part with it. The unit works perfectly, and has experienced normal wear in the past 4-5 months (screen in perfect condition, minor wear on exterior housing). I have had a Zagg screen protector on the unit since I got it, so the screen is in perfect condition. With this unit you will also be getting the following: 1. DeLorme PN-40 GPSr (Original cost, $330 at Amazon) with original box and all original materials (other than $40 certificate map downloads, and lanyard. I believe it is somewhere in my house, so I may still find it. I didn't like it anyways, as it was far too thick, like a wide shoe lace, and would easily get stuck to other material, and seemed prone to fraying) including: * › The Rugged Earthmate GPS PN-40 handheld GPS receiver with pre-loaded worldwide highway and major road base map * › DeLorme PN-40 Edition Topo USA 7 software with complete hybrid U.S. topographic and street-level detail (including all Regional Map discs) * › USB data-transfer cable for PC-GPS data exchanges * › 1-GB SD card * › Getting Started Guide * › Comprehensive owners' manual * › Serious Tool Sticker 2. RAM IN-Vehicle Suction Cup Mount for PN-40 (Original cost, $49.95) 3. DeLorme PN-40 Travel Kit (Original cost, $49.95), includes: * › Carrying Case * › Li-Ion rechargeable battery * › 2-piece USB connecter * › USB car charger for two piece cable * › Wall charger * › Car charger adapter for wall charger. 4. DeLorme 1 year Map Subscription Card (transferrable). I purchased this at the end of December 2008, so you still have around 8 months. This was originally $29.95, so it has a value of around $20 right now. 5. ZAGG invisibleSHIELD Screen Protector (Original price, $12.95). Already applied to screen, perfect fit. In total, all of these items new cost around $470. I am asking $350 or best offer. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
  15. Oops, should have read the whole thread before previously responding. Moving on...
  16. Exhibit A Dude, what on earth are you talking about? I never took a pot shot at the PN-40, I simply asked a question about WAAS. I wasn't bashing anything. "Silly Games?" WTF? Right away the gloves come off with you guys. Is there some neuro-chemical leeching out of the plastic of the PN-40? SHEESH!!! yogazoo, you must be trolling. Your previous post before this one was clearly taking pot shots. Maybe you don't see it, but it seems pretty clear to me after reading these posts. And this post just confirms it. But honestly, this is all just silly.
  17. Wait, you're seriously not stirring the pot? Maybe the fanboy reaction to DeLorme ala Mac fanboys is indicative of a truly great product coupled with amazing support? That's my thoughts on the overzealous nature of DeLorme users. Oh, and from what I've been hearing, the upcoming firmware update truly addresses the WAAS issues. But, as a PN-40 user, I can vouch that the accuracy has been amazing, and when I do have a WAAS fix I see no difference, so I don't get all the hoopla about WAAS.
  18. Additionally, the DeLorme folks (a very friendly, helpful lot) have made it known that geocaching with the PN-40 will become much, much easier. They will be rolling out "Send to GPS" functionality, as well as the "Cache Register", which will eliminate the need for Topo 7 when geocaching (although Topo 7 is still necessary for loading maps, routes, etc, but for strictly geocaching, these tools will make things much easier). They have two blog posts detailing these upcoming features, can't wait! Here are the posts: http://blog.delorme.com/2009/01/31/paperless-caching-update/ http://blog.delorme.com/2008/11/11/geocach...the-mac-and-pc/ These are exciting days for PN-20 and PN-40 owners! -Adam
  19. I don't know much about the 60CSx, but am I right in stating that it is NOT paperless? To me that is a deal breaker, and the PN-40 becomes a no-brainer.
  20. Pages 50 & 51 of thePN-40 manual describe how to edit a waypoint. I would assume that since one mark set a waypoint based on an arbitrary location, and edit a waypoint, you can manually enter coordinates in the field. It is very easy to edit a waypoint. Great for puzzle caches where you find stage 1 with coords for stage 2, and so on.
  21. Of course the DeLorme PN-20 or PN-40 both have auto-routing, paperless geocaching, and full maps of the entire USA right out of the box, so to me either DeLorme is a no-brainer.
  22. Just received the DeLorme PN-40 last week. I simply love it. It is truly amazing. My vote most definitely goes for the DeLorme PN-40.
