  1. I would say cachers tend to write less on average for 3 reasons: 1 - Many cachers now logging their finds from their phones 2 - A increase in easy micros (or so I have heard), which never really warrant as long a story as a more interesting cache 3 - cachers finding on average more caches in a day, due to their being more caches to find, means they are less likely to remember each cache individually and the story behind each find, and less likely to spend time writing long logs, due to haveing to write so many
  2. By the way, I am coming for a visit to Cape Town from 2-20 March, so if anyone wants to do some caching, that would be good! CapeDoc, plleeeeeease can you organise another "Darkenss Beckons " caching trip while I'm there, or whoever organised that sleeping on the mountain trip in the scout hut ;o) Otherwise, I hope to have an event cache on 3 or 4th march. Any days preferred by anyone?
  3. HAHA, great work, cape doc!! I almost killed myself trying that one
  4. wow, Carbon Hunter nice one It was 1915 I seem to recall, so your go. Apparently it was a simple gyroscopic device which managed to keep the plane steady, allowing the pilots to climb out on the wings for a game of tennis, as can be seen in this photo: http://archive-hot.blogspot.com/2011/05/playing-tennis-on-wings-of-flying.html
  5. woo hoo thanks! Here is something I learned on QI this week. What year was the auto-pilot invented for aeroplanes? I shall allow a certain leeway on either side.

I cant beleive this silly thread is still going after 4 years!!
  7. Hi Akkatracker Nice to see a visitor attempting a challenging cache like that. Do allow a good few hours to do the cache. Many of the locals have taken days to do it, one puzzle at a time. I would hate for you to spend lots of time on it and get stuck somewhere along the way, so I will send you my cell number, in case you need help (I am living in UK now, so a SMS / text would be cheaper!) I have never seen a snake on that area of the mountain and have only ever seen 3 snakes during 20 years of hiking in the mountains - I think it is safer than Oz! Tough question, Cape Town is one of the best caching destinations in the world ) What sort of caches do you like? Tough challenging hikes and caving etc? Tricky puzzles? Nice drives with not much walking but interesting views? A bit of history? And do you have a car? If you want some more interesting hikes, there are many Cape Town cachers who will be glad to take you on the more exciting routes!
  8. Ah, I lived in Willow road for a while as well. When they put all the gates up, Willow road was my secret hidden entrance for a long time, as they did not put gates in Willow road. I guess there are gates there now!
  9. I didn't know there was a current scheme? What is the scheme? I think the fun of TBs is the randomness of it though, if it makes it's goal by a big stroke of luck, nice
  10. Yeah, wouldnlt mind a trip back there myself
  11. I'd be quite happy to do this one again. It will be good to do it in cooler weather than the last time. Third visit to Traverse Reverse and 4th to Frodo's. The dates you have will be fine. Looking forward to it - Andre. Wow 3 trips to trav Rav!! That sure beats the only time I have been there when I hid the cache before leaving CT Enjoy your expedition folks!
  12. Bah, I first thought of board games, as I play board games about twice a week, and play Battlestar galactica a lot, and there are about 10 different lord of the ring board games, but I have never heard of an A team, Spiderman or platoon board game
  13. They have all had computer games made about them Not sure if the A Team have though
  14. Now now, I dont think its a problem at all, if 2 of cownchickens answers are correct, then the prize should go to them!
  15. ok here's a question asked in my local pub quiz this week, not sure how true it is! 43% of Italian men live within 800m of what?
  16. Argghhh sorry for the lack of reply, I have been lacking in internet connection recently, back now, will post a question today
  17. I beleive I was there, and it snowed, YAY
  18. ooh, good luck to both groups of brave adventurers, how daunting to have to split up the group in order to tackle the growing evil in separate locations. Curse that monstrous balrog!! May the forces of good protect you on your perilous quests to crush the fiend Sauron and halt his evil plans. I look forward to hearing of many successes from brave hobbits, elves, dwarves and humans alike!
  19. Hey all. Go to the new geocaching maps, type in "yarrow point", and zoom out one notch. Pretty cool!
  20. they were resistant to the normal sedatives used?
  21. hmm tough call, everyone has something partly right. Indeed Euro games generally have not much luck involved, normally skill based games, sometimes give you a headache. Ameritrash games normally have more fighting, more luck, dice rolling, and very often differing skills, like flying syringe says. I will say either Flyingsyringe or Vryburgers can go for it, as Flying syringe was fairly right about ameritrash, and vryburgers spot on about euros. Cincol, you are fairly right about the luck, but for calling them trash, you've been given the boot, as some of them are great!
