  1. Hmm, I wander how it has popped up again! How perplexing
  2. Hey folks, seems the Western Cape forum has disappeared? Anyway, I am visiting Cape Town between 7 and 23 November, so would be great to go on a geocaching hike or meet up with a bunch of old caching friends! Havent had time to set up an event cache, not sure if it's too late for that now, but I will be free most days in the week, or on the weekend of 12th/13th if anyone wants to meet up. Looking forward to some great mountain based caching
  3. Hmm, thats a strange observation. I would have thought that the more caches one does in a period - (eg, lots of caches in one day), the less you would write, as it might be harder to remember specifics about the caches, whereas if you just went and found 1 epic cache in a day, you would remember the experience better and have more to say about it.
  4. Hy guys I might be pretty busy this weekend, but might be able to go caching tomorrow, maybe down south to escape the marathon. My number is 0729397482 if you are free. Troopscouter, that sounds good, I will befree in the week, and like climbing etc, so bring some ropes along )
  5. Ok here is a list of caches that I wouldn't mind doing if anyone wants to join me - and perhaps has equipment for some of them Probably best time is Easter weekend, or otherwise anytime during the week between 16 April and 4 May Tougher hikes are dependant on the general well being of my knees at the time into the abyss indiana jones and the chambers of terror Awaken the leviathan defending the caveman pristine well hung extremely well hung Penny's cave knife edge van hunks cigar lounge Penny's cave magic on the beach tokai witch project - at night The hardest cache on table mountain Arrr!!!! 6. Thanks Tom, I tried your suggestion, and after a bit of confusion, its working now Looking forward to doing some lovely Cape Caches!!
  7. Thanks Trevor, what a champ! Do you have a link which explains how to use it? I can't remember anything! The reason I lost it, is that I got a new computer, and when I installed it on my new one 2 years ago, it didn't seem to work anymore, so I hope it works now !
  8. Hi guys, I posted this in the technology forums, but didn't have any luck, any GPS tech gurus here able to help me before my Sa trip ? ----------------------------- About 2 years ago, I used to use Pilotsnipes Macro with GSAK to upload caches to my nuvi 255. I have not used my nuvi for 2 years, and need to use it again now. I can't seem to find pilotsnipes on the net anywhere, and have read many forums which indicate its not available. From what I can gather, we can now just use GSAK directly, by going to GPS > SEND WAYPOINTS. (as per http://www.atlanticgeocaching.com/index.php/2012-03-05-22-43-59/articles-a-tutorials/8-how-to-upload-waypoints-with-gsak) I have added my nuvi to GSAK, and none of the points get uploaded - GSAK does not give any message if it was successful or not, although the loading does seem to finish successfully. Could this be because my GPS is full of waypoints from my last trip? Does it not delete them and replace them with the new ones? Any advice on how to upload the caches, or what I might be doing wrong?
  9. Thanks, although I am sure it used to delete old caches, but perhaps my memory is fading! Anyone know how to delete caches from a nuvi?
  10. Thanks Standloper As my knees have recently been pretty wounded, perhaps one called knee surgery might be a bad idea
  11. Hey guys What are the recommended new cape town caches places in the last 2 years or so for my visit? As you know, I like a bit of adventure Thanks!

  13. Ok event cache submitted, hope its approved!
  14. Hey guys I am visiting Cape Town from 16 April to 4 May. Sadly I just arrive to late for 1 event cache, and will be away the weekend of the event on the 26th, so want to set up another event, which pretty much leaves only the Easter weekend or 4th May, which is not ideal, or an evening one after work. Whats everyones verdict, are many of you going to be away for the easter weekend, what days woulod be best for everyone? Any venues / ideas are welcomed too
  15. Oh dear, this doesn't look good I hope there are some caches left when I visit next year!
  16. OK cool, we can make the plans at the event on Sunday for Rattus Maximus. Cheers
  17. Hey guys, anyone want to join me for an attempt at Rattus Maximus sometime between 3 - 19 March? Also might be keen to try Earth, Wind, Fire Water if anyone wants to join the search!
  18. Carbon Hunter, are you asking us or telling us that you never watched a single episode? I have never watched a single episode myself, but what they hey, I will have a guess at Aaron.
  19. dadgum, stock aitken and waterman would have been my guess to
  20. Correct, with a population of ~170 000 and two Nobel prizes (one literature and one economics), St Lucia averages one Nobel prize for every 85 000 citizens. Not too shabby! Hey you said you were going to tell us why the QI answer was wrong - I saw that episode recently. What mistake did they make ?
  21. Good question! The tricky thing is those folks who have done a lot of those armchair caches, as they can add 1000s of miles without someone having left home! I hope to be high up in the books when it comes to distance internationally
  22. wow, interesting! Would be cool to break that down per total land area of those respective countries, to see how the stats differ then!
  23. Was he the designer of the Death Star? Otherwise, is it related to the MIR station?
