  1. Fergus Falls, MN to Host GeoFest Midwest Get a Clue GeoFest Midwest, a two-day geocaching event is planned September 27-28, 2008 in Fergus Falls, a beautiful west central Minnesota community. A palette of fall colors and geocache sites among the lakes, prairies, and forests of this region will provide a weekend that includes fun, intrigue, prizes and camaraderie. Day 1 Day one kicks off on Saturday morning with the release of several cache sites (25-30). Each cache contains a clue to a mystery. Between kick-off and 4 p.m. geocachers collect as many clues as they can. The more clues gathered, the more likely each participant is able to solve the mystery. Each winner will be eligible for a random grand-prize drawing. The evening will consist of an awards celebration, barbecue and bonfire with plenty of time to share stories and experiences from geocaching. Prizes will be given in several categories and include a GPS, walking stick, gas cards and more. Day 2 Sunday morning at 9 a.m. we¹ll begin a virtual cache. A dedicated web site, www.GeoFestMidwest.com will be the place to upload as many photos from the virtual cache, as possible. By midnight Monday, those who post the most photos from a virtual cache list of approximately 15-20 sites are eligible to win a digital camera. The virtual cache sites will be located at various locations throughout Otter Tail County. Registration The event is free. Pre-registration is preferred for planning purposes. The first 100 to register will receive an event Geocoin when they check in on Saturday. Geocache coordinates for each day will be released on paper at the given times/day. Several of the sites will be made into permanent caches and posted on geocaching.com when the event concludes. Visit www.GeoFestMidwest.com to register.
  2. We are planning GeoFest Midwest for this fall. But admittedly our planning committee is comprised of many novices. We'll buy the pizza for those who attend and can help us learn more about geocaching. We bought a GPS last week - what fun. Our meeting is Monday, Feburary 11th, 5:30 p.m. at the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center in Fergus Falls, MN. N46 15.932 and W 096 03.892. Let me know if you can come so we have plenty of pizza! I have no idea how many people might show up - but 20 is plenty. Hey, it rhymes.
