  1. Thanks folks Hadn't read the forums for some time so this was new to us. Having read the other threads, we will make no further comment. (Though it would be nice if they wanted to do the rest of out caches! Just a 7000 mile round trip!) Theft is treated a little differently here
  2. Take a look at the log just received for one of our trackable items... Just be aware of misguided eco-warriors! "Location: East Midlands, United Kingdom graburknaculus retrieved Not so Tatty (Travel Bug Dog Tag) from Aylestone canal- the Meadow's first official cache at 10/7/2010 Log Date: 10/7/2010 and the journey is over. RECYCLED. *** This has been "groped" (GROup for Environmental Protection). The container and it's contents have been removed and destroyed. Your environmental vandalism will NOT be tolerated. Before any of you morons bleat on about us removing this "geolitter" (your phrase not ours!), remember that dropping LITTER (ie these pathetic containers) is a CRIMINAL offence punishable by a fine up to £1,000. So please, feel free, go into the police and make a complaint. We've urged this from the very first removal. Go ahead make our day. You can just see the headline in the Sun now... "Geocacher's urged by community leaders to waste very scarce police resources. Next time you're burgled or mugged you know who to blame.... " We have already replied directly to him with "appropriate" comments....... for instance..."there is plenty of trash you can pick up and destroy if you feel the need to without needing a GPS device to find it" Anyone else come across this kind of behaviour??
  3. We need one of those - where can you get them from??
  4. We've walked miles in the desert for a single DNF in 40C and up mountains just to draw a picture! (The ART CACHE GC179QR) On the other hand, we would rather do a shorter walk for a more interesting cache than a long hike for a micro. Especially if the walk is a bit dreary - as some can be! Since we have started geocaching we have seen many beautiful places we wouldn't have otherwise seen. Those places have been worth the walk whether it was 0.1 miles or 10 miles. Thanks to the cachers who draw our attention to these otherwise unknown places. It's more than a walk
  5. It's a different world for caching in the Middle East - costs $18 to fill my RAV4 10 gallon tank. However - it smarts filling the car up while caching at our home base in the UK - $100 for a diesel Ford Focus Maybe if you feel the pinch, then some smart caching is in order. We find a bunch together, park centrally and walk to them all if possible.
