  7. Goto www.gsak.net GSAK is a great database program for keeping track of not only your finds but any caches that you have downloaded. You can load caches directly into your GPS with it. The support is excellent( see the Help forums at their site) and it is worth the $30 (you can us it unregistered but you do get a nag screen) Good Luck and happy hunting
  8. Yes there is a Virgina Delorme GCVYD4 I hope this helps
  9. Remember we all started at Zero!!
  10. Not directly, but you can put your DNF's into a bookmark then run a PQ off of the bookmark. I hope this helps, good luck
  11. I just checked my PQ it is N 40 W 77 and still returns no results
  12. OK Somebody get me a towel so I can get the egg off of my face DUH
  13. Ok it worked, but I am trying to search in PA!!
  14. I just tried the Hide & Seek page with those coords it returned 0 results.
  15. Can you describe all the other options you used? One of the most common mistakes is checking the box for both CACHES I HAVE FOUND and CACHES I HAVE NOT FOUND. Since it is impossible for a cache to have both of those characteristics, the results come back as zero. I started by checking only Trads and letterboxes, it didnt work. Then I tried all types of caches, no date restriction still isnt working. I will try others and post the results here later Thanks for your quick reply
  16. I am trying to do a PQ around N 77 44.800 W 40 53.800. The PQ returns no results. I have tried many options and still get nothing. Any help would be appreciated
  17. I don't want to take the easy way out but I have to say ditto to what everyone else has said. I like micros because they teach patience. I like regular caches for the walk/hike. I like the people I have met. I cache with my oldest daughter sometimes and that is priceless
  18. Clyde, for his program GSAK which has helped many cachers keep their data organized
  19. Here is the website for Ram Mounts they have a large selection to choose from. I have a suction cup mount for my Garmin 60CSx its a lot better than the one that Garmin makes
  20. Ok, Here's my .02 worth. 1) Bring back virtuals only in areas where a physical cache is not allowed. 2) DONT bring back locationless caches because some of the logging requirements by the owners is way to restrictive i.e each location may be logged only one.. basically allowing only one finder per area 3) keep micros because some cachers may be physically unable to get to other caches, if lifting a lamppost skirt is all they can do then let them enjoy it.
  21. A micro in a tree or a small cache in the woods away from head stones is ok. I know of who write about and youre right most of his caches aren't the best (bad coords or locations). Quite a few cachers have put his caches on their ignore list. But climbing a tree in a cemetery is BAD!
  22. What if you spray paint your name on the side of the building with the date? Isnt that like signing the log??
  23. Here is my view on this, 1) I like micros, some of the ones I have found have been downright cruel hides. 2) They are good for handicapped cachers who cannot get to the ammo can in the woods. 3) Some of the ones that have been placed in my area ( Akron, Ohio) have a nice history lesson to go with them and they take you to great spots. I am speaking specifically about the Hiking Viking & IlliniPhil they have put out some AWESOME caches!!! 4) If you dont like micros, dont find them!! Its that simple 5) I think it would be a mistake to get rid of micros, this is OUR sport/hobby lets enjoy it
  24. Hang in there. The previous advice that has been give here is excellent!. Here is a tip do a search on Ebay for "Geocaching" you can see a sample of some of the containers that are out there, its really interesting!!
  25. The basic rule state that you must sign the log, however if you get to a cache with a wet logbook that you cant sign & the rest of the cache is intact I think you should get credit for a find since the wet log is beyond your control. But if you get to the cache area and find NOTHING then its a DNF!! As for finding the cache all over the place, I would say contacting the owner is the best course of action, I would clean it up and ask him/her how to return it to them. As for logging an event cache that you didnt attend thats just not right, but you are only cheating yourself by logging bogus finds/attends.
