  1. well, in Canada it shows major highways, major city names, names of lakes, oceans and rivers, names of islands, and it shows rail road tracks.
  2. The route calculation data box was checked by default and the 771.4mb of maps i uploaded turned into an img file of 789,824 on the Colorado's disk. Hopefully that worked as it should have. i'm only assuming it did since the ending file is larger. I guess i'll call Garmin to see if topo canada's street routing works with the Colorado. Maybe i need to get the NA NT 2008 for it to work right. Maybe someone can chime in that has NT 2008 on the Colorado if when a preloaded route is viewed on screen if it's a line from point A to point B or if it is actually a true correct route shown along highways/roads? thanks.
  3. Yes, the Colorado has turn by turn with Topo Canada, which is great and it also shows all the roads and labels them most times (the labeling thing i think is an issue since it will show one time and not the other). It tells me when my next turn comes up with big arrows, tells me the lanes i need to be in, and beeps. But i think you may be right that i missed something somewhere in my commands Night Stalker. I think i may have missed doing that re-route command. I tried looking for that command now but i don't see where it is. There is an option for "Detour" on the main menu when a route is active, but i'm not sure if that's it? I'll have to try it. When i start, it tries to u-turn me back to the start and then once i go at least a 1/4 of the way it finally figures i'm going in the right direction but keeps trying to exit me at each highway exit. Once i'm on the correct exit from the highway it wants me to turn at side streets which are not the fastest way since you have to go a slower speed. It's almost like the Colorado has no idea about relating speed to a type of road (i.e. side street and highway speed), or i have done something wrong. My route that i chose was the Calgary airport to 54 Ave SE. Mapsource on my computer routed it from the Airport on to Deerfoot Trail (the Highway) down to Peigan and over to 54 Ave SE. But my Colorado wanted to take the side streets all the way staying closest to the centre line between the two points I was traveling from and to.
  4. Hi, I have the 400t with topo Canada. When i route a trip on the streets in Mapsource on my PC and have it set to go highways most often it routes just wonderfully going a very sensible route. But when i copy the route over to my 400t and look at it, it is a straight line between two points. When i actually try to drive the route it losses the sensible route using highways and wants to keep to the center line between the two points. Does any one have any idea why the routing doesn't keep it's form from the PC? I've got the 400t on the automotive profile and with the following options set: Guidance method: on road for time Calculate route for: car Avoid: on for u-turns, toll roads, unpaved roads, and carpool lanes. Off road transitions: Auto Lock on Road Go to Line: Course Autopilot Mode: Off thanks.
  5. I'm convinced the colorado 400t has issues with the lower 1.2 voltage NiMH batteries. I have three different types of NiHM batteries and i've been using them for a few weeks with varied hours of use. After putting a fresh couple in I saw a flicker of the low power screen but when i checked the power of the battery on the Colorado they were 100%. Obviously the Colorado can't monitor these battery types if it flickers a low power screen and doesn't reduce the power or brightness. ...yes, I have the battery options set correct and ver 2.3/2.6. I've switched to 1.5 volt Alkaline to see if they last longer. Looking foward to a fix by Garmin soon?!!!
