  1. I have a TB that I had picked up quite a few years ago. Somehow it went missing, and I would like to take it off my inventory list. The TB owner has not logged any finds for 2 years, so I am guessing they are no longer in the game. I did send an email to them a while back, but got no response. I have no idea what the tracking number was. Any idea how to deal with this?
  2. That's it exactly! I just knew you could find it! Take a bow! I sent an email to the owner, to find out what they want to do with it. Copy tag, or substitute tag and new mission tag, return to owner, or whatever. I have recently been reading so many forum posts of all the bugs that have gone missing. It tickles me to no end to be able to help get a bug out of the dreaded 'Unknown Location"
  3. Will scan the note and pic tomorrow at work. My scanner is fritzed at home. Note says it's a tribute to a cat named DC (Da*ned Cat) and wants to get to it's previous apartment in Washington DC from Washington state.
  4. Found a plastic baggie in a cache today. Bag had some writing on it and a picture with a note saying it was a TB in honor of somebodies cat. No name, no TB tag, just a note with an address in DC where it was intending to go. It's dated 2005. How would I go about finding the tb # or owner? BlueDuece, you seem to be the master of wayward Travel Bugs, any ideas?
  5. I've been seeing a lot of so called 'urban caches' recently. So many, in fact, that they are becoming routine. For the most part, these are fun, but a couple of versions make me uncomfortable. Examples are the fake electrical outlets, and fake switch plate covers Sometimes, the actual cache IS the fake electrical outlet, or the switch plate cover, but I've been seeing quite a few caches where the real item nearby has been either forcibly busted open or has been opened with a screwdriver and just left hanging there, by someone in search of the cache. Maybe not always cachers, there are still enough run of the mill vandals out there, but you see my point. By far the worst one is the magnetic "Danger" signs. There is a reason some things are marked dangerous, and by having some of the signs out there as caches is just asking for somebody to go poking around where there is really a hazard. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I can see the potential for somebody getting seriously injured, if not killed, by taking chances with what "maybe is", and "maybe isn't" the cache.
  6. Me...driving a black and silver Ford conversion van pulling a pop up camper. You... blew past me just east of Cactus Flats, South Dakota. You had the cutest Travel Bug on the back of your truck, and the license plate to match the sport. Sadly, you were going too fast for me to pick out the TB numbers and we were unable to catch up to you! Us...Perhaps we could hook up for a quick TB number exchange. If interested, Please contact me!
  7. I started one in Minnesota with a goal of the Atlantic Ocean in Maine. The darn thing has been in North Dakota for 6 months! Oh well! at least it's still moving
  8. My Bumbles Little Adventure TB has gone missing. Well, not truely missing, but the guy that took him 7 months ago stated in his find log that he/(she?) took it out of the cache, but didn't log it as taken. So the TB shows that it's still in the cache where I left it. I've sent an email asking to release it, but no answer. The guy has 100+ finds and has found 7 more since he picked up my bug. So it's not like he has given up caching altogether. Here's a couple of questions about the situation... Does an email to a member go to the home email? Or just to the geocache site in the messages section? How often can I email this person before it's considered harrassment? Is there a way to force my bug into his possession? Not sure if it would make a difference to getting him to release it, but I think it might be worth a shot. Any other ideas on how to get my poor little guy released? Thanks
