We have a lot of Snow Birds (people who live here in the winter and go back to their frozen wastelands in the summer) in this area. Last year one of them started a challenge cache series, and to date the series has 41 caches. Some of them aren't so bad, requiring you to spell your geocaching name with the first letter from the title of caches you have found, etc. Most, however, can only be logged by someone who has found 10,000 or more caches, which is fine for retired people who live full time in RVs and do nothing but geocache all the time (such as the guy who started the series), but that eliminates most of us who live and cache in this area year round. A few examples from this series: 1000 caches in each of five states; black out the stats grids on your profile; 100+ Earth caches; 3 caches a day for 366 days. I can go out and find all of them at any time, but I can only log a handful of them at this point.

I haven't read through all the posts on this thread yet, so my question may have already been answered. What do you do with the person who "finds" solely by logging online, but never actually goes out and looks for them? We've got a few of those here in my area, but one in particular who likes to log "Found It!" for caches that have gone missing, but that the owner has not yet disabled. The false find often leads the CO to hold off on disabling or even checking on the cache.

Geocaching.com pre-loads all GPSr units they sell. I bought one of these recently for much the same reason. I have an old Etrex Legend that worked fine until I upgraded my computer. No matter how many serial-to-USB drivers I attempt on my computer, I can no longer get the serial-to-USB interface to work. I've been using the Android app for a couple of years, and it's great, but it drains the battery after half a dozen caches, and that's no good when I'm spending the day on a mountain trying to find the 30 or so that are up there. So I upgraded to the Etrex 10. Some of you will say that's not much of an upgrade, but I just can't justify buying a more expensive unit. And the ability to drop a pocket query into it and have 500 caches on it instantly (and then remove them in one fell swoop) is a huge upgrade as far as I'm concerned. Now for my question: I can log attempts on the unit, but cannot figure out how to transfer that from the unit to geocaching.com. Do I still have to do that manually?
