  1. x2 They also support the chirp feature if you have caches like that in your area.
  2. Yup, best advice right there. I've had numerous run ins with the police in my 11,000+ caching career. The situation goes so much easier when you show them your GPS and say you are playing the Geocaching scavenger hunting game. One time a couple cops rolled up to me in a parking lot. They had reports from the neighbors of me shining my flashlight around. (it was 11pm) I explained what I was doing and that put them at ease. One of the cops even followed me to the next cache and we found it together.
  3. I hate virtual drops. I know of several people that have virtual TBs that travel with them while caching and they log them in and out of every cache. If it isn't your TB, just log it when it goes in and out of a cache...for real.
  4. Its a little desperate, but you could post a note on the nearest cache indicating yours is nearby and for somebody to grab it. Personally, I think the best situation is for the cache to be conditionally approved and request the FTF to pick-up the cache (making them the LTF as well). You might discuss this option with the reviewer. Saves those TBs and prevents geo-litter.
  5. They are expecting several inches of snow up in Big Bear this weekend. I would think that might put a big dent in your caching plans. Temps are predicted to be in the 20s on Monday. I don't think the tour goes close enough to the 3N07 trail to find the mine or wall cache. You would be in for a bit of a walk to get to those caches and I don't think they have the time in their tour schedule for that. Probably best to just get a PQ of the area and grab whatever is nearby your stops. Hangmans Tree Crossroads Ponderosa Overlook Those might be the only possible grabs during the tour. That 'In the Cabins front yard' will almost certainly be a no go. Most of Rimor's caches are hikes that take 15min-1hr. I'd scratch them from your list. Email me through my profile if you have any other specific questions before your trip.
  6. Couldn't find any underwater caches on the whole island. I did see this cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...35-3faf678900ed
  7. Texas would be the South and Southwest section not the West and Southwest section. Time to re-relocate this thread.
  8. Plenty of hiking and caching options in Elysian Park and Griffith Park.
  9. Be sure to travel safe and don't wheel alone. Cell phones don't work when you get too far away from the Hwy, so keep that in mind.
  10. Some Rav4s are 4wd some are 2wd. Really nice views (2wd): http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...98-31b8b8ea074e Nice place to climb some rocks (2wd): http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...dd-fee670764aaa Cool bat cave (2wd): http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...19-bac32011c2ec Tip Top Mtn peak (4wd): http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...92-97857b905f3c Alan Rowe memorial (lifted/armored 4wd): http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d2-e192e2b29290 Onyx Summit (2wd): http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...99-db4e67661940 Deep Creek (2wd): http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...60-7cbf7e66b66c This one is over by Arrowhead, but the Deep Creek area is a really nice spot.
  11. Do you have a 4WD vehicle?
  12. To add to what JJnTJ said, you will want to select "Publish Listing" for each cache type you want to monitor. This will give you the notification when new caches of that type go live.
  13. And yet, earlier, you claimed that creating repetition trails would not be easy? That's the reason for the word relatively here. Given the effort to plan and place 500 or 1000 caches, it doesn't take much additional effort to get together a group of individuals to each place some of the caches and thereby keep within the guideline. This is the amusing thing about the rule. Small geotrails which most people would generally not have a problem with would be blocked by the swiss rule while huge powertrails would generally not be blocked because they are most often hidden by a large team of geocachers. Yup, all you need is enough people to bypass the Swiss distance guideline. So if the guideline says new caches on your account must be 1mi apart to avoid questioning, you only need 10 people to place caches every 0.1mi apart and still be 1.0mi from each of their own caches. So this Swiss guideline is just another useless addition to an already overcrowded and over burdening set of guidelines.
  14. Geocaching Swiss Army Knife It's the name of a software program used by many to manipulate PQs (pocket queries) and sort the data. You can download it for free and try it out. http://www.gsak.net
  15. Does the email subject start with "[LOG] Owner:"? Sounds like you are receiving Owner emails on your caches. These are different then watchlist notifications. As a cache owner, you cannot turn off email notifications when somebody posts a log on your cache.
  16. My Walmart used to carry the real tree type of camo tape, now they only carry the digital camo.

    GSAK

Do you organize and order the caches into a list or just find the next nearest? Creating an ordered list makes for better use of your time, and GSAK can help you create lists like this: http://www.showstop.org/geocaching/list/tarot.html
  18. Yeah, I'm guessing somewhere in AZ given the OPs general location, but it would be helpful to narrow it down the area.
  19. Just sounds like some kids messing around. They made legitimate logs on their other finds. Maybe they were joking about taking yours? What other caches did they take?
  20. Heh, Heh. Look who they blame it on # # Geysa, (Employee), commented 10 days ago No content has been deleted. Seems this is a caching issue. Right...caching, not Caching...as in the storage of data not (Geo)Caching Thanks Capt. Obvious. I think Toz was taking advantage of the play on words. He actually does show his sense of humor from time to time.
  21. On the Hide and Seek menu page, select Oregon from the State Page drop down menu. This will list all upcoming events in the state. Quick link to that page: http://www.geocaching.com/local/default.aspx?state_id=38

    TOTT

If the cache you were looking for was "SH3" Sizzle Up, it sounds like that cache is high up maybe on a light pole. TOTT for that cache would be a grabber, tall person, small ladder, etc.
  23. There is a challenge cache near Disneyland that requires you to find a cache in all 50 states before you can log it. I've heard that Twopoms caches are pretty challenging. (inside joke) But like Karstic said, what type of challenge? There are plenty of series caches to do like the 80 days caches, BoB trail and others. Pacholik and others have some good puzzles caches around there as well.
  24. Realistically though, how many caches would utilize a lock such as you describe? Just because a container is a "lock and lock" doesn't mean you take the name literally. Sounds like a cool concept, I'm just wondering if the volume is there to make the concept viable. I like the idea of combo locks and hunting down the TBs with the codes as a more fun and unique solution when using a lock on a cache.
