  1. Yes, it's allowed. In your cache page description, it would be a good idea to let cachers know that they're in for a long distance hunt, or give them some indication of the time to complete the whole multi. Boats to islands are usually OK, but run it past your local reviewer to check first. MrsB Thanks for clearing this up for me. I'll certainly check with my reviewer regarding the boat/island one. There are other permissions I'll need in order to get a cache placed here as well but I reckon it'll be totally worth it if I get that permission!! Post all of the permissions into a reviewer note before you submit it, it'll save a bit of time.
  2. Or Fleabay has been a good source. Just don't shout too loudly in here about buying nano containers, you'll unset some of the natives
  3. There is a suggestion to make the transparent background optional in the feedback forum If you like this idea, go and vote
  4. "I really wish I hadn't got you that copy of the Kama Sutra for Christmas" I was thinking along these lines , but could think of a way to say it.
  5. I can see this going on for a while
  6. Not a good idea... You could end up with two caches at the same location and anyway, I'd be pretty pissed off if some if some stranger took it upon themselves to replace one of my caches just because they couldn't find it. One of my caches went over a year without being found. I'd be miffed if it got archived just for that. If there were a string of DNF's that would be a different matter entirely.
  7. Try the car boot sale thread pinned at the top of this forum
  8. I've noticed a weird thing. If you select an icon on the map page, the icon flashes and sometimes the named button flashes too. And the blasted 'approaching waypoint' message is back
  9. I don't know if it will or it won't, but there's only one way to find out. If it doesn't work, the worst that will happen is it will take up space on your card.
  10. Hi Country walks, welcome to the mad house I hope you enjoy yourself.
  11. For FREE routable maps worldwide, check out this website, the maps are sourced from OSM data.
  12. I wondered how you could have a 5/5 in a grass field.
  13. No, sorry, the searchable addresses have not been cracked. The only way to get this feature to work is to buy Garmin maps for Mega**$$ Not that I'm aware of
  14. Generally not, but depending on the operating frequency then may be. Looking at the caches you've found you must be based near me (Grays). What cache are you talking about?
  15. The reviewer will not see the cache until you publish it. He/she will then be able to read the note. If the note requests them not to publish until further notice, they won't.
  16. For OS maps on a GPS with custom maps (like the Oregon) try Mobile Atlas Creator, it's free Have a look here for the settings I use. For the manual, check out the wiki, it is the manual that Garmin should have written. P.S. there is an oregon wiki too
  17. Try Mobile Atlas Creator, it's free Have a look here for the settings I use.
  18. I never knew this existed, many thanks
  19. Hi Oyster, 1) for the satellite page, tap the signal strength bar at the bottom of the menu screen. 2) For the data fields on the map display go to 'setup' - 'Map' - 'Data Fields' - and select an option. If you select 2 or 4 and come out back to the menu and then look at the map, you'll see the data fields. If you press on one of the fields, you'll be given a list of data that you can assign to that field. You may like to review the Oregon Wiki, it's the manual Garmin should have written.
  20. You can also have the data fields on the map page. Or you can watch the satellite page which shows location information. AFAIK you can not have a page will just the location on it.
  21. As the data comes from OSM it all depends on how many people update the dataset behind the maps.
  22. Yes Yes if the log didn't explain everything because it would give away the hide if I did. Yes if it was my fault, no if it was wear and tear. No.
  23. WGS84 is a map datum. If you have the wrong datum set you will introduce a repeatable offset in one direction. I have no idea of the hardware your are using, byut if you can change the datum I would look in the settings or options menu.
