  1. This is the only way I know. 1) open the kmz file with winzip 2) open the .kml file with notepad 3) press ctrl + h 4) find <drawOrder>0</drawOrder> 5) replace with <drawOrder>51</drawOrder> 6) save the .kml 7) copy it back into the kmz file in winzip. There is a feature request to add the ability to select draw order in the gui.
  2. With an x model with it's card slot you're going to need sendmap to send the img file to the unit. The first step is to download the img files from the site. Just follow the instructions and you'll be ok.
  3. Am I missing something, but why pay for a service that I can get for free with this? I have seen in another thread that the birdeye image is identical to google maps, which is available in the Mobile Atlas Creator.
  4. Get the 450 and download maps from the various sources for free.
  5. A couple of ways. 1) create a pocket query within a distance of one of the caches, say a mile or two. This will send you more caches than you need, but don't worry 2) Create a bookmark list of the caches in the ring and then create a pocket query of those. You need to be a premium member to do both, which you are.
  6. It does for me. Might be something to do with the Z time as I live in the UK?
  7. It is not the worlds best camera, but I think it is good for what it is. I use it to take photos of clues in multi's and bonus caches. As the photos are geotagged, you can see them on the map. Is that worth $80 to you, only you can tell.
  8. On the plus side, my 550 is showing 'D's' on the sat page for the first time ever. Looks like this has added support for EGNOS at last.
  9. Depends, do you have an SD card in the unit? If not, you're good. If so the computer is not seeing the card. Try reinstalling the card or formatting the card in a card reader.
  10. Ah i see now, forgive the questions. I've been researching GPS units and they do document a lot of specifications but they are lacking in some areas such as this. So i can punch in or download my coordinates set a way point and switch to the navigation page and follow the navigational arrow so long as i am moving? Correct
  11. No it does have those pages, just the data is meaningless if you are stood still. You'll need to be moving to allow the unit to detect direction.
  12. The GPS will display an arrow to follow, however with an electronic compass the unit will only know which direction it is travelling in and not which direction it is pointing in. So, the arrow is only going to give a good direction when you are moving. Units with an electronic compass can also give a good direction whist you are stood still. My first 2 GPSr's did not have electronic compasses and I found 100's of caches.
  13. Click for the garmin way. Click for the easier way.
  14. Mine is fine, TPTB must have it in for you
  15. The X00 Oregon series screen is not as bright as the X50 series.
  16. If you don't succeed at first, read the instructions
  17. I had a Legend HCx until Jan when I upgraded to the 550. The Legend is a great unit and you'll certainly find caches without a problem, but the Oregon is just outstanding. Now I've seen the light, I wouldn't go back.
  18. The T models have more built in memory which is used to take built in topo maps. I've not seen these, but others have said that they're not as good as some of the free offerings out on the interweb. If you want to see an example of topo maps (not Garmin) search the GB forum for OSM by talkytoaster.
  19. It kept up with walking pace OK, but when you moved off one tile to the next it can take up to a minute to redraw. I also like to pan around the map to get a bigger picture of features around me, this would also trigger a redraw regularly.
  20. Clicky here Check out the Oregon 450, 550 and the Dekota 20. Personally I wouldn't get a 'T' model as Mobile Atlas Creator makes really good 1:25,000 OS maps. I have the 550 and I LOVE it! Welcome to an expensive hobby
