  1. Now I see what you mean, when I set a 'GO' to a cache it starts tracking again and can't be turned off until the route is canceled. That's not something I noticed before because I always leave the tracking on.
  2. There is an eXplorist forum that is not part of Magellan but experienced explorist users and some beta testers. Go here - Magellaninsiders.com
  3. Ok, with my GC I go to 'Tools' 'Settings' 'Tracks' uncheck 'Tracking ON' and it makes no track. Set check mark for 'Tracking ON' and it creates a track. Moving the joystick to the left is not "route mode". The joystick left while on the geocache list or description page will only show the map and the distance from where you are to that geocache, it will not set a 'Go To' to that geocache and it will not give a changing distance to the geocache. Joystick to the right sets the Go To for the geocache. Use the map with a 'Distance to End' display or use the dashboard to get a distance to your target.
  4. Ok I have to say I'm confused here, the only way to publish from any GPSr to GC.com is through the field note feature, that is a GC.com limitation not any manufactures. So your saying you want to publish a field note without making a field note? Making a field note (atleast on an x10 series) is automatic, when you are looking for a cache and find it open the Menu and choose FOUND IT. If you choose not to edit the field note it will put one there for you that has the "TIme to find" and says Found, you can edit it after you upload it to GC.com before you post it. Maybe your canceling the navigation, reopening the caches page and then manually changing the status to found, this is the long way to do it and would skip the auto note creation. Create field notes on the explorist GC when you find the caches, then connect to GC.com when you get home to download your field notes straight to GC.com. You can not create a field note on Vantage Point, you have to make a field note in the field on your GPSr, then download them to VP or GC.com! Don't bother with Vantage Point at all.
  5. Could you post a representative screen shot? Any locations you like that show off the "eye candy"? Go here for info, reviews and screen shots - http://www.exploristforum.com/
  6. Here's a 2 or 3 foot long snake I saw while doing an Earthcache on April 11. A pretty little thing.
  7. I load caches from GSAK to MS Streets and Trips, then create a route from cache to cache, take the laptop in the truck and get turn by turn directions driving from cache to cache. It takes about 15 minutes to set up. I know it's not automatic but for getting a cluster of caches away from home it works fine.
  8. I don't worry about WAAS readings or exactly how accurate my triton is at the cache gz. If you are getting 9 feet accuracy you are talking about an 18 foot diameter circle to search. Plus who knows how accurate the cache hider was while placing it? After using 3 Garmins, 4 Magellans and a DeLorme GPSr I have found the Triton 2000 to be as or more accurate than any. The bottom line - the GPSr will get you close, then trust you're geosense.
  9. Yeah, I have to do that also. If I set it up for a weekly update there's no problem
