  1. I live in New hampshire i have had all my caches approved by GPSFUN.
  2. I belive the approver has done the right thing in getting this cache aproved or not aproved in this case. I belive 365 mi away to place a cache is way to far to provide the proper cache maintance.I think approvers should take track history of owned caches into the consideration to. maybe you should spend moretime getting the caches you have arcived back up and running no flame intened
  3. I use my mapsend topo software to look at the topography of the area that i intend to go to. I then plot a corse on the map set waypoints along the route. upload the information to my gpsr. make a paper copy of the map to carry in my backpack.along with the cache page and i am all set then. then if im hunting in the woods i let the gpsr make its own ticks then when i get home i download the gpsr and it prints the route that i have wandered on to the topo map and i can make a copy for latter reffrence
  4. Bought my ink jet shrink film at michaels craft store abought 11.00u.s dollars for 5 sheets 8.5 by 11in pretty good luck just going by the derections on the pkg
  5. I am glad i came across this topic. I was thinking of placing a cache like this but on the mag strip i glued a small altods flash tin (1.5in -1in-1/4 thick) and theme the items to postage stamps only. I guess ill have to find some way to atache a log.
  6. Maybe a little off topic but i just came across a neet little micro contaner it is a altodes flash tin it is magnetic it is 1.5 inches long 1 inch wide 1/4 thick great for putting waypoints in it for a multi stage cache.
  7. I agree with duaut. I have placed one cache that i maintaine all the time. When i go to the cache. I always bring new in the pkg toys and restock the cache.Six dollars at the dollar store buyes alot.I also put alot of things that i make on the computer. stickers, transfers, window clings, calanders, and such. As for trading out on other caches i trade things that i have made a bundled pkg ,wooden coins, sig card, key fobes ,with a email address, that when people take the item to keep they email me. That just makes it that much more fun for me.
  8. I have the same verision works for me. The map is nice because you can always have a hard copy of the area you are going too after you print it out.If you can get the cd for next to nothing do it
  9. Welcome to the sport RENNERBEE.Do not be intimedated by your gpsr.Lots of buttons. Most of witch you will not use all the time.I too have a sportrak great little gpsr.Try using your mark a location. with this , you will be able to edit the waypoint scrolling, with the center, button and the enter button. Then just use your goto.Try a easy cache first.till you get use to the gpsr. The most diffilcult part will be. finding the cache hiding spot. witch can be very cleaver. Bring the clue with you, use it if you need it. Have fun

  12. Well welcome to the sport.I have a magellan sport trak map my self. It is a great gpsr for caching.Along with the above posts of items to take with you take a log book to keep your records of your visits the finds or no finds, traded items, so that when you log your visits on Groundspeak ,you will know what the details of the cache , you were at. Handy if you vist 5 caches a day!
