  1. I've always taken this with....... a "pinch of salt" Their legendary after sales service suggests a product with known defects... duff adhesive ..etc etc. etc. etc. McKryton gives sound advice ...you get what you pay for ..... Basic etrex will do the job....true.... but once you have used a model with averaging or electronic compass like the Magellan series , you wont think they are "minor" benefits. slainge Bob
  2. We were always taught..... 1 for 6's 2 for 6's 3 for 6's No four.....
  3. Can't be in Liverpool .....still got a wheel...... (Sorry Liverpool)
  4. Piper & it's Dr Who! Is that yon boy wi the big scarves.... Billy Who.....? So is it Dr.Twigger ?
  5. The ambassador for geocaching is a member of Team coolCal.... rapidly approaching their 1st ton.... ...welll if they could get up in the morning.... Sorry Callum.... the Devil made me say it ......
  6. Yep ..agreed .... Vasectomy for all males and hysterectomy for all females at age 12 .... propagating little aggressive idiots shouldn't be allowed.
  7. Well goodness me !..... it would have been soooooo much trouble to send an automated email to all the paying Groundspeak contributors telling them about this .............wouldn't it... It will be interesting to see what comes out of it... suspect that saying other interests = pig sodomy and ferret breeding may bring some interesting emails ...
  8. I'd guess most opinions are biased by the weather ; conditions;view....etc..... undoubtedly Ben Nevis is a great challenge, try this one ...... Glencoe not too hard, but..... Never to be forgotten......
  9. Some would think this would be a Topic that GAGB would give guidance ... listen to that silence shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
  10. Sounds like a 4X4 would solve most of the problems...........or would it ? I hope Naefearjustbeer isn't offended by this ......I found the cache shortly afterwards, and "The Devil made me smile" Highness Ouch !
  11. Hi Alboy I'm guessing here ...... are you exporting from GSAK to MM all of the caches within x miles say..? You can solve your problem by creating and saving a GSAK filter ..... "mm export" or whatever .....and using this prior to creating your mm export csv file ..... for the filter , just select "not found" on MM after logging a find ... select the cache properties and change it from a flag to a dot.... when you need to update MM use hide all........ Flags ( your finds will remain as dots) delete hidden then import the new MM CSV..... it seems long winded .... but its pretty easy ...... it just means you only update the unfound caches ... hope it helps .... or at least gives you ideas.... 12. Hello Canada. I'm trying to contact a BC Cacher ...."Douglas Clan", the reason being that I have a travel bug "Cock-a doodle-doo" which disappeared from "Loitering in Langdale" last year. It was placed in the cache on the 14th Aug., and future cache finders reported it as missing.... my only hope is that it was found by Douglas Clan on the 14th....they haven't logged any caches since, but occasionally visit the Geocache site. ( Messages sent to their email address via GCcom just get bounced .) If anyone knows of them, I'd appreciate making contact…… I’m happy to wait if they log the TB and intend returning to caching, alternatively, I’ll refund any costs to have the TB posted to me. Many thanks in anticipation, Slainge Bob
  13. Fact I've never read so much drivel in any other country forum....
  14. Now an easy solution to your conundrums and ruminations...... Hold the event in the land of the enlightened ...Scotland..... Extract from Scottish outdoor access code.... 3.11 There are also many natural hazards, such as uneven ground, rough paths, cliffs, steep and rocky ground, fast-flowing rivers and deep water with undercurrents. For some activities, such as mountaineering and canoeing, these challenges provide the basis for people’s enjoyment of the outdoors. Whatever your activity, you need to take account of natural hazards, use common sense and take care. There is a longstanding legal principle called “volenti non fit injuria” which means that a person taking access will generally be held to have accepted any obvious risks or risks which are inherent in the activities they are undertaking. 15. From a personal viewpoint, I've disabled GSAK from loading them....... The waypoint which is of most interest to me, and probably most cachers, is the suggested parking, but if the waypoint is called " parking" , its about as much use as tits on a bull......it just fills the GSAK database with meaningless waypoints. If everyone adopted the convention of calling the waypoint "cache-name" parking then it would be a real benefit......
  16. Poor old Archaic charmer...... he's just an amateur compared to Superman ..... JohnnyCache2006
  17. Now this may be way off the mark, have you checked your "ignore bookmark list "? The buttons are quite close, and the caches may have been inadvertantly ignored. OK its a long shot , but if the PQ is set up the same way as everyone else and you are the only one getting the problem, its the only explanation I can think of. Slainge FFB
  18. I'd guess that the if the thief could interrogate cache listings , they will be aware of the forum..... Hold up Bob!! We don't know for definite that the seller is the thief... I do love a mystery... Golem ...you are soooo right ... then again...not many people would try and sell some stuffed toys with an intrinsic value of 0p on ebay....
  19. I'd guess that if the thief could interrogate cache listings , they will be aware of the forum.....
  20. Simon One of the TBs is mine......Junior Hate to say it , but I'd rather see the TB "lost"than set a precident..... buying it will only encourage others to follow...... Your intentions are admirable, but Its doubtful that the seller is totally innocent .....
  21. Re backups ... thanks for the response people ,, Problem resolved ..... ( as usual it was me ) oh .... and merry Xmas to you all .... Slainge FFB
