  1. I guess we are saying the same thing ...the suggestion was that say 4 cachers who couldn’t find was sufficient evidence that the owner ( or whoever ) needed to confirm its existence . The “proof of the pudding” is to look at how many caches have 3 ; 4 ; or more DNF without being reported as “needs archiving” I can see quite a few in the area I look at with GSAK...so I suspect the problem is generic ..hence the suggestion that the process is "automated"
  2. Just a random thought that might have some mileage …….I suspect that there are many “ unmaintained” caches, where the owners are no longer active, and historic “holliday caches” still in existence . Now its possible / probable that over a period of time , these caches will be destroyed or lost or whatever …and on the assumption that a lot of cachers don’t log DNF , isn’t it sensible that after say 4 consecutive DNF’s the cache automatically becomes “temporary unavailable” and if there isn’t a a find for a month …or confirmation of its existence by the owner ..it becomes archived ?..shouldnt be "beyond the wit of man" to trigger this . Ok ..so some caches which are hard to find might be affected …but the owner should be able to confirm their existence…. Just a thought ….may relieve some wasted journeys and frayed tempers
  3. Not even close !!!!!!!:- 24,881miles ... Beat that number counters ! Well .....maybe cheated a wee bit and took the short cut ...(1.9 miles ) .just depends on how you think about it ...I could have gone the long way round. l
  4. Quote "Note on access Its Scotland! There are no trespass laws , go where you like, just use common sense." End Quote actually I believe there is an "armed trespass" law...otherwise its not an issue (provided you aren't damaging crops)
  5. Ok I'll admit confusion...(may be age related before anyone adds tthe comment)..I presume this only applies to England and Wales ?? ...
  6. Oh and I forgot :- Memory Map ! You still havent paid for that
  7. And while we are about it ! WHERE IS MY CASH ? GPSr £400 Fuel £300+ Sweat ..10 gallons ….. ( whats the going rate for sweat?) Family appeasements > £ 500 Holiday to allow me to go looking for Tupperware boxes £1000 + Tick Drops for dog £20 Cummon Eckiwhitsyourname and Lackisompthinorother …..cough up ! its all your fault ! On an ever so slightly more serious vein……..Email posts can be easily misinterpreted …… this post may have been written “tongue in cheek” …lets be generous and give the “benefit of the doubt”
  8. Yes Canadian geocoins are different ..log them here http://www.geocoins.ca/
  9. Wish there was an easy way ... I've reinstated 2 archived caches...and I only found them by "trawling" ......looked at the oldest caches in the area ...then looked at the profiles of the earliest finders to see caches found ...it shows archived caches ...as I say its a bit "hit or miss"..... Now I think the the gruesome twosome .... "Ekiwhitshisname" and Lactosomthingorother" have special powers in this area ...might be worth mithering them ...(yes Scotsmen can use Yorkshire words ...you qualify by working there for 12 years )
  10. And the other isnt in the walls phewwwwwwwww
  11. When is a "dry stane dyke" a "dry stane dyke"? guess its when is a functional barrier ...assume delelict dry stane dykes dont count ? The monuments I can understand ..... Elaboration on walls of old houses would be appreciated ..I know of several caches in the "shells" of old buildings (I have 2) .. AAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH! ok so 1 is just the remaining foundations .... ps where are these rules...all I can find are "guidelines"
  12. “NEVER use a strimmer or chipper on Giant Hogweed material as this can cause sap to become airborne, resulting in injury as described above.” Now as someone who spends a lot of time clearing (strimmer) the river banks ..I can testify to this .. . ..( want to see my arms? )..doesn’t say what you should use ( or do though ...) Also get burns from Japanese knotweed and Himalayan balsam ..though not as bad

  17. Ladbrooks are offering 150-1 that its in Chooky land
  18. Its shameless the way you people are poking fun at one of the greatest song writers of our time, what with all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment,it is worth reflecting on the most unnoticed death last week of a very important person. Larry La Prise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Cokey", died peacefully at home. He was 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in...and that's when the trouble started....
  19. Ullium ..its one of the options on TB page when you log the TB or look at it. Another point from a United States thread regarding missing / disappearing travel bugs was that the wording of the Geocache notice which is added to caches says something like "if you found this by accident please feel free to swap an item and fill in the log book" ....... accidental finders wouldn’t know what a TB was ..and may inadvertently swap it ...never to be seen again .... Perhaps a bug-sheet might prevent this.
  20. LOST THE PLOT !!!!! ????? Is this what its all about? ! Hope not . 1 cache in spectacular surroundings is priceless...how sad it it when we start patting ourselves on the back for registering numbers
