Best Geocaching App for Android?
The Caching Coulters replied to redleg7's topic in GPS technology and devices
I don't think the inaccuracy problems come from the app. I would think that it depends on the phone. -
Best Geocaching App for Android?
The Caching Coulters replied to redleg7's topic in GPS technology and devices
And I pay $30 a year just like many others. For as little mobile caching I do I didn't want to spend the $10 on an app. Heck the 60csx is usally in the vehicle anyway so I use the phone more as mobile internet than anything else. It's nice to have a completely paperless experience. The app just makes it easier. -

Android Incredible phone
The Caching Coulters replied to GOJim's topic in GPS technology and devices
I am using the 60csx and the Incredible with c:geo. I use the gps for planned caching days and the Incredible for spur of the moment. There is now a Captcha that has to be entered for non-premium members, I think. I'm a PM so I'm not sure. The Incredible does well enough in my experience though be prepared to only get a few hours of battery life if constantly caching. If nothing else you can use the phone to look up caches nearby then transfer coords over to the 60csx. Probably shouldn't talk to much about the app as it's not GS's. My suggestion, go to the market and download both. See which one you like best. -
Backdoor way to log PMO caches
The Caching Coulters replied to lemon16's topic in General geocaching topics
So you are going to ask Groundspeak define the definition of "family" when the federal government and most of the state governments haven't been able to do it? I don't think they are quite ready to take that project on right now. Sure they can. Their definition doesn't have any legal implications. They are a private company. -
Wow! Lots of people proably enjoyed these caches but once again we bow to the few who have issues with it. Just like so much else in America today. We change EVRYTHING so no one complains. Did any of you read that the containers matched the title? 'Try my Pie' -a foam pie container. 'Big Jugs'- a hide a key on two humongous fiberglass Jugs outside of a business that builds such things. Yes I can see the point you are all making but if I took my kids, 2 & 6, to these caches and I told them the name was "Ride Me" and we found it on a horseback riding sign they would think it's funny/cool not perverted. But hey if you've got the time to get offended over eveything go for it. I've got enough going on in my own life to worry about how someone else is offending me. And so what if they do? Ignore it.

Favorites working well
The Caching Coulters replied to Andronicus's topic in General geocaching topics
I disagree. I don't like "Recommended" because I have no idea what caches YOU like. I do however know what caches I like. Either way, recommended or favorites, it gets the point across. -
I would think that if an area was closed during a certain time(winter) that the caches affected should be "temp disabled" and the description should state that the land is closed from x day to x day. I just recently put out some caches and the first log pointed out that while I hadn't used the "available in winter" attribute she looked for them anyway. So I went back and added that attribute to them, so around here it means they are above the snow basically.

FTF situation opinions

I think we're missing the whole point of this thread. That is that the cache is a ziplock bag that is wrapped in duct tape! -
Hiding a 120mm Ammo Can
The Caching Coulters replied to Brantflakes's topic in General geocaching topics
I've got an ammo can about the same size but was worried about it walking off so I placed it in my front yard. Everyone I've met seems to like it. Maybe one day I'll move it but not right now. I like the idea of a multi for it, start with a nano and work up. -
There's something missing

But I shut off signatures. I won't be able to see them! There's got to be a simple way to add this info back under the username. -

Geocaching.com site update Dec 21st 2010
The Caching Coulters replied to OpinioNate's topic in Geocaching HQ communications
Christmas has come early! Thank you! -
GS has been really good about putting a thread of upcoming changes and bug fixes out a few day(s) before they do a site upgrade but I see nothing about today's changes. I've seen that we're supposed to get the new maps and a ratings system, but what else?
-
But if you look at the forum front page with the list of all the topics showing, hover just to the right of each Topic Title (to the left of the name of the Topic Starter) a little icon appears to click and "View Topic Preview". It gives you the first post and also the last post, should you want it. Will that do? MrsB Yes it will! I :just: noticed that but hadn't clicked on it yet. Thanks!
-
Please delete since I can't figure out how to.
-
Overall I love it. Though you still can't "hover" over a vague thread title and get the first 100 characters or so of the post. So you still have to go into the thread to see what it's about. That was something I figured would happen. Heck it's on almost every other forum out there. I figured it was standard equipment.

Is anyone else seeing Mr. Irish's posts on FB? Last nights was "I'm having trouble rating the awesomeness of my day, but by default I would say it is 3.5. Hopefully tonight will be "fierce." He also mentioned finishing up the forum upgrade. YAY!
