  1. Actually the reason that I ask is because I want to know where caches have been. Do I want to put a cache in that area. How did the cache fare with muggles. Did it get a good amount of traffic. Essentially research for putting out caches. And yes the old Premium geocaching map did let you display archived caches.
  2. Is there a way to generate archived caches in a PQ or view on the maps as you could before the change.
  3. I have this thread in a couple of the caching forums that I am in...here is a responce from one of them...I have also sent a message to Jeremy for his thoughts but haven't heard from him yet... As I get things in order for the TB to be sent out...i.e. - contact the organization, get the bug made, start the cache page, ect. I would start asking for sponsors (probably in the forums like this). After the bug is sent out the bug page would give everyone that moves the TB an option to join the sponsorship (I haven't decided if it would be retroactive or not i.e. - your sponsorship begins from the start of the bugs tour (the first day it is put in a cache) or from the time you moved it) by contacting me with there interest or send a donation to the organization BUT THIS IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE A REQUIREMENT (and I will not be soliciting any cachers after I put it in a cache) for the bug... I guess what I am saying is the majority of the sponsorships will be pledged before the bug goes out and if you want to sponsor or donate after that point it will be completely voluntary
  4. The bug may have been a FTF prize... "X"
  5. I am thinking about starting up a travel bug for a Non-profit organization and want to get some thoughts about an idea that I have...(I wont mention the organization because I haven't contacted them as of this date). What I want to do is give cachers an opportunity to sponsor it for so many dollars per stop with some limitation as to the stops...i.e. - state to state, county to county - though state to state seems to probably be the better route in this case. The bug would have one year to complete its journey. It would earn money for its organization through the sponsorships and the number of states it travels to...i.e. - say someone sponsors it for $1 per state and some one else sponsors it for $5 per state - the bug makes it to 20 states and 5 countries out side the US (each county would count for 1 state) then the bug would have made $25 from sponsor A and $125 from sponsor B... After the year time period the bug sponsorships would end (the bug would then become a "normal bug" and continue to travel to the plethora of caches), I would inform the sponsors how many states/countries the bug stopped in and also include information to send the sponsored money to your local branch of this organization. Please post your thoughts about this idea.... “X”
  6. I agree but to keep the running tally... Use - eXplorist 400 Old unit - Magellen 3000XL "X"
  7. I just got my 400 about a month ago and think it works pretty well...I had a 300xl befor that and decided to stick with Magellen...I really like the abillity to add the SD Card (a 2GB max is what Magellen suport has told me). I dont like that you have to remove the battery pack to get to the card slot (the XL has access on the side of the unit) and the fact that it doesnt use alkaline batteries (XL also uses regular batteries), the color screen would have been nice to. But all in all I still like it and think it is a good unit, especally with any of the other supporting software... "X"
  8. Unfortuinatly I cant post muggle log I found, subsequently I also removed it from the log book.... "X"
  9. I am looking for more ideas for my Geocoin. I will be putting them in the caches I find as "Sig Cards" - The only way I am able to get the sketch up is a link to my page on Tripod...how do I get the photo to show up here????? This is a VERY rough sketch, I am at work and dont have access to the graphic programs that I like to use for this kind of thing...Let me know about any ideas to make it better...I will be using a wooden nickle and applicating it with decoupage or another good form of application. The compass forms the 'X' from my screen name. I have the MI-Geocahing logo because I live in MI, the star of life because I am an EMT, the # is going to be an edition # (0 for 1-99, 1 for 100-199, 2 for 200-299, ect, ect). I also would like ideas for the back...I would like to have a space for putting the exact # for the coin (example - it is the 98th coin I have placed so I would write #098 somewhere on the back... http://bdarlas.tripod.com/coin.html
