  1. I had a run in with the local fuzz at this cache. I tried my best to explain geocaching to them and be honest as to why I was there. In the end, no bail money was needed
  2. I headed out to do this cache and I noticed a log from the previous few cachers that the cache was full of water and basically ruined. I replaced the entire cache for the owner including a new container and new goodies. Any past "dirty" behavior should have been wiped clean....I hope
  3. I once sent sent an email to Groundspeak asking permission to organize a geocaching charity event. There would be an entrance fee and a caching contest of some kind. The winner would receive half of all entrance fees collected and the other half would be donated to a charity of their choice. They basicall told me that such an event would be considered a commercial caching event and would violate Groundspeak rules. If I wanted to put together such an event, Id have to list it somewhere other than on geocaching.com
  4. When I first started caching, I would take good quality stuff and leave bascially junk in return. This wasnt done maliciously, I was inexperienced. Now having been caching for a few months, most of the time I log a TNLN unless theres something in the cache I REALLY want, and in those cases, I try my hardest to trade up.
  5. Most multi-tools ive seen have a knife blade included. I cant speak for others, but as for me, I spend as much time outdoors as possible when im not working. I love hiking, fishing, camping etc. Given the nature of geocaching, I would assume that alot of the people who participate in this pastime also enjoy similar activities and trade items that are assosciated with those activities are wonderful. Things such as multi tools, pocket knives, fishing hooks, water-proof matches, and so on are some of my most favorite items that I have found
  6. Ive seen a variety of containers used as stages on a multi. plastic soda bottles wooden or metal tags with the coords stamped on them 35mm film canisters pill bottles butter dishes. The list could continue but I think you get the idea.
  7. There are those with the unusual ability to find the main cache in a multi without visiting all the checkpoints first. (I am not one of these people ). Is this practice cheating, or is it cleverness on the part of the cacher?
  8. The number of caches hidden or found really have nothing to do with the quality of someones caching skills. The only thing that someone with 10 times more cache finds under there belt than me has is 10 times more free time. It should be about quality, not quantity.
  9. The best thing my wife ever told me was "I want a divorce"
  10. What would the GPS coords of the "Beagle 2" cache be.??
  11. I worked until 10PM on the evening before hunting for that one. Because of this, I didnt have to be at work until 10AM that day.
  12. OK a couple of points. 1. I will fully admit that I love trying for FTF's. Theres something thrilling for me trying to be the first. 2. Like most people, I work all day. 6AM to 6PM so that night time hours are the only times that I can go. Unless of course a cache is placed close enough to my work where I can find it during lunch. I do not apologize for my caching techniques. Everyone has there own style and way of doing it. This is mine. If you want to delete my online logs, go ahead. I go caching because I find it enjoyable, not for the numbers. I would be just as happy finding caches and never logging them online.
  13. Ive been first finder on a few caches and have claimed the first finder's prize. Are these special prizes trade items or a gift from the cache owner?
  14. I enjoy caching at night. Just the other night, I headed out to a location I had never been before. About 500ft up the trail, I came across 3 men REALLY enjoying each others company. Needless to say, I ran back to the car with one hand holding my keys, and the other hand covering my rear. [This message was edited by wavehopper on October 23, 2003 at 02:54 PM.]
  15. I would have to call this one the southern most cache. check this out
  16. Im very familiar with the story. The difficulty was not locating him. The problems arose as how to safely get him out. The area he was trapped in was one big swamp, and they had to figure out the best way to get him without risking injury to either him or the rescuers. I know this because the guy in the story......is me
  17. Heres a good story for you. http://www.gazettenet.com/07282003/news/7851.htm

    anyone near 92 41.46

The photos came out great. Thanks alot for your help.
  19. Heres an ethical question. If I can answer all the questions on a virtual cache by doing a little bit of internet research, is it ethical to log the cache if I was never actually there?

  21. I like to use mine for geocaching
  22. quote:don't set out for an "easy cache" on a "short hike" near twilight without a flashlight After my night here, I can definitely vouch for that.
  23. Send an email to a geocacher named WaldenRun. He has sucessfully completed over 1000 caches all without using a GPS. If theres anyone who can point you in the right direction, its him.
  24. I would appreciate some assistance logging the WHERE'S IN A NAME CACHE. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=12627&log=y&decrypt=y I need someone to take a photograph with their GPS at 92 41.467. These coordinates can be either N,S,E, or W. We will both receive credit as a find. Thanks, Wavehopper27
