  2. quote:Originally posted by ChurchCampDave: quote:In short, our mind has some interestings ways to compensate for dirty data. It stongly wants to make sense out of disorder...sometimes it's right, sometimes it is just plain wrong. George Nature abhors a vacuum, and human beings just can't STAND it when something doesn't make logical sense. This is one of our greatest assets in the physical world but one of the biggest barriers to our spirituality. If we can't reason it, it can't be true. Therefore we "plug in" something in every case to make sense out of nonsense. It is hard to accept that something might really have been intended to be just nonsense- or that something might be beyond our finite reasoning. _"Freedom is a two-way street."_ GDAE, Dave Maybe this explains why I keep reading the forums? ___________________________________ All weal drive, the only way to go!
  3. I can only surmise that this is some kind of joke on GC.com. The contact page says "Any input from the public that is received by Rapid LLC regarding screenplays, web sites or any other works, become the properity of Rapid LLC without any obligation." Sounds like someone from the "Read the Terms" thread. ___________________________________ All weal drive, the only way to go!

They mentioned one time a bear went into a tent one night because there was a tube of chapstick in the bottom of a backpack in the tent. "I'm 35 Years old, I am divorced, and I live in van down by the river!" - Matt Foley That does it, no more chap stick for me. I am NOT kissing any bear. ___________________________________ All weal drive, the only way to go!

  6. I also doubt I will change any minds in the forums but this discussion started because someone removed something from a cache as religious propaganda when someone else actually placed a value on it. I'll stand by my previous post. As much as I enjoy a good give and take, I have no desire to try to get into any deep discussions on religion or politics in these forums or with what I leave in a cache. Just asking for equal consideration on what I consider of value. ___________________________________ All weal drive, the only way to go!
  7. quote:Originally posted by Sissy-n-CR:Actually, I think the admonishment of talking about religion and politics was for gatherings were you want the conversation to be light. It'll be a party pooping experience to get into a heated debate over religion or politics. For one thing, you rarely can change someone's mind. Even with the most well thought out arguments on either topic it doesn't do any good. CR http://img.Groundspeak.com/user/72057_2000.gif [This message was edited by Sissy-n-CR on September 17, 2003 at 04:50 AM.] Oh yeah, as I mentioned, discuss, not argue. I guess I would consider a heated discussion an argument. And someone must be changing someones mind with something, else all elections would always come out the same and church membership would never change. ___________________________________ All weal drive, the only way to go!
  8. quote:Originally posted by boreal jeff & sons: quote:Originally posted by Webfoot:I saw information once that stated that on the average, you are no more than 10 feet from a spider where ever you are. Is this true even in Antarctica? I do agree spiders are very useful especially when they eat Mosquitoes! Every hour spent Geocaching is added to the end of your life. Probably not true in Antartica, but think about what that does to the average where you are! ___________________________________ All weal drive, the only way to go!

Occasional pretend (or really) pick up trash as you zone into the cache. People ignore you if you have a trash bag in hand. Jeremy Good idea. People always ignore the 'underclasses'. Great idea. Maybe take it one step further and confiscate an old shopping cart to push around the woods! ___________________________________ All weal drive, the only way to go!
  10. quote:Originally posted by Breaktrack:Oh good grief.... ... (For those of you in Iraq, I'm sorry, but these statistics are a bit skewed in your case...) However, you rarely hear about the casualties from simple accidents, only those that occur due to enemy action. Most of the casualties currently, since the *end of hostilities* have been due to vehicle accidents, drowning (believe it or not), landmines (left over from the conflict), accidental shootings of one troop by another, or self-inflicted wounds, horseplay, the disarming of ordinance (such as EOD units or Engineers), and illness. ." Agree totally with your assessement. Perspective is lost in most activities today. However, I just read an article that says there were more deaths in Washington, DC(66) than in Iraq(52) during the 90 days immediately following the 'end of hostilities'. No doubt a slanted article but believable if you've ever been to DC. But I always point the top of the ammo can away from me when I open it. Paranoid? Yes, and I want to keep them both. ___________________________________ All weal drive, the only way to go!
  11. I find it interesting that so many folks don’t want anyone forcing their beliefs, religions, ideas on them. I’m curious as to where they got their current beliefs. Perhaps they just thought them up all by themselves, with no input from anywhere else? Don’t discuss religion or politics? Sounds like a comment from someone who is afraid to have their ideas challenged. I believe that politics and religion are two major factors in a person’s quality of life and to be admonished not to talk about them is foolishness. Arguing about them is not OK, but talking about them should be fine. Now, that being said, this is a geocaching site. In the limited number of caches I have found I have run into items that I’m not particularly fond of. I’ve left them alone. They mean something to someone. Sounds like a simple rule. Please leave my items alone. They mean something to me. ___________________________________ All weal drive, the only way to go!
