  1. I'm the guy that usually just finds one when I start down the trail. I'm also the guy that keeps poking and prodding the campfire with his hiking stick at night....
  2. I hit that store yesterday for some decons. I almost bought one of those large medical boxes but didn't have room in the van for it. We're fortunate to have such a well stocked surplus outlet so close by. Four rows of shelves, 50 feet deep, stacked up high, full of cans of various sizes and shapes.
  3. I've gotten a number of such requests. I just ignore them.
  4. Nevada is now re enabled (road construction caused me to temp disable it)
  5. The explorists builtin geocaching feature is pretty slick. It's *almost* like paperless caching without a pda. I don't know how good the geocaching software is on the garmin units... (they *do* have geocaching software builtin don't they?)
  6. I think you're forgetting to include /color (don't forget the brackets) after you input your text.
  7. You ordered 2 sets and I included an extra coin for your patience on my slow shipping. I think of it as a deposit into my Karma bank.
  8. 200 caches within 19.5 miles 200 caches that I have'nt found within 45.8 miles 489 caches within 50 miles
  9. Now *theres* a job worthy of an Eagle Scout project. Build a nature trail, complete with geocaches. Back in the "old days", eagle projects took many manhours of work and months of planning and coordination. They stood out in the community as valuable improvements and many have lasted decades. BadAndy, Eagle Scout class of 1976.
  10. I currently get Infinity MP$ in my caching van.
  11. Any home improvement store sells those solar powered sidewalk lights, usually 4 to a set. They can easily be canibalized for your solar powered geocache. Inside you'll find a 3 volt solar panel, a 3 volt rechargeable battery pack and some leds's. The solar panel doubles as a switch that turns the leds on at night and off at sunrise.
  12. Looks like your emails have finally paid off. Your BadAndy coin was finally dropped into a cache today.
  13. I have noticed a new trend taking shape with regards to some of my travelling coins. It goes like this... Cacher A finds a travelling coin in a cache. He takes it to a few events and lots of folks discover it, but it's never placed into the event cache. After a time he hands it off to cacher B. Cacher B puts it in his bag and shows it off for discovery at events but doesn't place it in a cache. After a time he hands it off to cacher C. Rinse and Repeat Lots of folks come in contact with the coin (or it's tracking number), and it certainly moves around from 1 event to the next but it gathers zero miles. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. On one hand, my coin is (hopefully) being enjoyed by lots of cachers and is'nt at much risk of being stolen outright (which is the primary goal). On the other hand, the logs on the coin page consist primarily of "Cool coin, saw it at the Blah Blah Blah event" and it does'nt accrue miles or cache visits. I suppose I should be grateful that it's still in the wild and getting around.
  14. They will have the standard BadAndy icon. Groundspeak is aware of the problem and it's on their list of things to do. I'm hoping any day now.
  15. Using babelfish.... Mutuus Sursum Vel Mutuus Parilis Handel omhoog of zelfs Handel Égal haut ou commercial du commerce Uniforme ascendente o comercial del comercio Handel hohes oder Geschäftsgleichmäßiges Trade up or Trade even
  16. Very nice coins SkinGuy, I especially like the clean simple lines.
  17. I don't typically compare the paper logbook to the online logs and I'm not about to start. I really could care less if someone logs a smiley when they shouldn't have.....it's just not that important to me. I have deleted a total of 1 log since I started hiding caches. That was a case of a spoiler to a cache. After deleting it, I asked the cacher to repost a find without the spoiler. His repost was simply "TNLNSL". Good enough for me.
  18. So, I'm sitting here bragging to my friend about how timely and efficient my recent geocoin project went when I start getting messages asking "Hey...wheres my coin?" The honest answer to that question if asked yesterday would be..."In the glovebox of my van." The answer if asked today would be... "At the post office." Sorry for the late mailing of 9 of the international orders, No good excuse for it...I just forgot they were still in the glovebox. So much for my bragging rights. I did open each one this morning to add an extra geocoin since they are late. If you ordered a silver "copy" I added a silver individual coin, if you ordered a gold "copy" I added a gold.
  19. If the problem is that it won't screw into the base anymore, try removing the o-ring.
  20. imho... The only caches that should not include a writing stick are micros that are too small to fit one. Film cans can hold a pencil stub, and anything larger can as well. With all the angst about finders having logs deleted because they didn't sign the log, why set up a cache thats just begging for more of the same? I keep a baggie of short golf course pencils in my bag for caches that are missing the pencil.
  21. Heres an award winning multi by my Dad. With 100 great logs (and not 1 stinker), it's been declared by many as the best multi they've ever seen. What sets it apart is the preparation and unique waypoints. Everyone leaves with a smile. Radio Central
