  1. How long do the pocket queries stay up in the download section? Can they be downloaded multiple times from it?
  2. I have a GC and have used vantage point to sync pocket queries from geocaching.com. I was really impressed that I just had to give it my name and password and it sucked them down. Then all I had to do was sync my GC with the prog. I loved that it only had a few steps. I now have a pn-40 as well. I want to be able to plug both in and hit sync. I want a program that also retrieves my PQs as easily as vantage point. I would like to use 1 program for both of them. Can this be done? If so, what should I use?
  3. My change was very quick. I didn't loose any of my info or stats. Keep in mind though that they may not approve the change as you must have a reason for requesting it. They do not routinely allow changes.
  4. I am wondering if there is a way to search for caches near a location on the GC. For instance, I am at home now and want to see what is by work. Is there a way to find them other than knowing a name or chache number or panning the map? Would love to just put something in and have the GPS tell me so that I can plan things out without the computer.
  5. I have been shopping and I was torn beetween the one you got and the PN-30 or PN-40. The PN-30 is running around 172 right now at walmart online and has topo and street maps. The 40 adds the internal compass but is more. Amazon also has used/refurbs of these for what look to be good prices. I saw a PN-30 for 163 there. If you get one let me know how they compare as I just ordered an explorist after many weeks of agonizing
  6. I have a mac so I can give a few tips. I use a Palm TX (I sync it with MissingSync as Palm doesn't have mac drivers anymore) with a bluetooth Hollux GPS. To get the caches onto my palm I use EasyNiche to load and then GeoNiche. GeoNiche is a GPS program with a compass. Many people also like Cachemate. It is mainly a database program. It does have a GPS component but I haven't had luck with it on my TX. There are a few Mac Geocaching programs out there. I know that when I have looked at them many work in conjunction with Cachemate. I haven't used them except to poke around. Geocache Manager and MacCaching are 2 of the offerings out there. I hope that helps!
  7. just me would be awesome - I could then set it to my exact without worrying about odd internet stalkers
  8. Any suggestions for software for my palm TX? I have been using geoniche and would like to have more detailed maps to use as well. I played with pathaway but couldn't find an easy and cheap way to add maps. Any suggestions?
  9. Who can see home coordinates? Just me - or others as well?
  10. How do I/where do I set my home coordinates on geocaching.com?
  11. I cache in urban areas. Parks are there but all in the city. I looked at the Garmins but really don't want to spend the money. I am not out caching much as allergy season dictates when I can do it. For this reason, budget is the number 1 consideration. With that in mind I still want an upgrade from geoniche. I mainly want it to be easier to load and have more details than the geoniche screen.
  12. How useful are aerial photos? I am contemplating upgrading from Geoniche on my palm to a new unit. It needs to be inexpensive and have paperless. I like the explorist GC due to price but the Delorme PN-30 was mentioned in another thread and looks intriguing. How much do you all use the aerial photos? Are they worth the extra money?
  13. Nice, I will have to look around. I have used a Tomtom for the driving and then my palm couppled with Geoniche for finding cache's once we are out of the car. It was a cheap way for me to test out GCing. I am contemplating finding an easier unit to load. The palm works well but is more involved. The Magellan looks uber easy so it has been tempting. What do you like better about the PN-30? I do see it can do aerial images. That is a nice touch as that can sometimes really help. I have gone back to my laptop after a failed cache to look at the aerials. Can you do paperless caching with it? I don't see that mentioned in what I was just reading. How easy is it to load? Can it do PQs? Can a mac load it? I know 1 downside of the Magellan is that Vantage Point isn't mac friendly so will only run on my netbook. now to go look at Amazon and see what prices are running... I know AAA offers Magellan discounts/warranties as well as a Target discount for those looking. Thanks for the feedback!
  14. I am curious... when did you see that price on Amazon? I have been watching. Is it Amazon or a seller on Amazon? Also, I am curious, what would be your 1st choice for a GPS?
