"muggles?" Come On, People!!
Gidget and Scooby replied to Barnstable's topic in General geocaching topics
Don't like it? Don't use it. -
As the owner of a Magellan and two Garmins I'd like to defend the click stick. When I first bought my Rino 120 I thought the stick was a pain. After using it for a while I grew to love it. When I went to get a new GPSr I went with the etrex Vista because of the click stick. Once you get use to it you won't want anything else.

She? It's MANNNNN, baaaaaaby! Oh, in that case those crazy kids might make it. The guy on the left is obviously in love and he makes his partner hard as a rock. -

You know this relationship is going to end badly. She's got a heart of stone. -

If you think that's strange you should see what he did with the stump. -
How Has Your Cacher Grown?
Gidget and Scooby replied to Broncoholics's topic in General geocaching topics
I double dog dare anyone to turn this one into a negative. Good thread idea. I have noticed the changes in my cachin bud's kids and my own nephew over the past year. I made a comment on this during our CITO on Sunday. Sn gans I'll take that double dog dare. "growing like a weed" is an obvious drug reference. It's just another attempt to stir up trouble. Quick, get the lynch mob! -
Trial By Geocaching Jury

Make that two votes. Three. -
I was looking at the website for Bass Pro Shop to see which store is closest to me. After going to the map of the stores I clicked on the one for Springfield, MO and they had not only the address but this... GPS Coordinates: 93.2973ºN, 37.1798ºW (WGS84/NAD83) That's pretty handy.

I could use it to help old ladies cross the street.

Just a little note to clarify. I live in the same river valley as Nonnipoppy and he does not speak for everyone in this area.

Can I Still Credit The Find?
Gidget and Scooby replied to sbirn's topic in General geocaching topics
If you can do it with a clear conscience then go ahead. If the cache owner doesn't like it then they can delete your log. I know I've been within feet of caches that I haven't found but I don't log them until I find them. -
Death is not a certainty. Just because every other person dies it does not mean you will too. You may be that medical miracle that lives forever. I know I'm going to live forever. If I'm wrong, at least I won't have to hear anyone say "I told you so".
-
I thought about that but I didn't want to add another log to people's caches. That looks like the only way. Thanks.

I recently bought another travel bug but I don't plan on setting it free. I want to use it as a personal bug to keep track of my miles. I plan to just log it into and then back out of any cache I find. I know this has been done before. Anyway, I was wondering if there is a way to go back to my old logs and add the bug. When I try to edit those posts it won't let me drop the bug. Any suggestions?
-
If it had been me, I would have just logged the travel bug into and then back out of the micro. That would show that it did travel to that cache. Then I could drop it into another cache the next chance I had.

Bravo! Bravo!

No offense taken, because I wasn't serious.

Here's a language peeve for you. Why do people claim to be the "first to find"? If I place a cache then I found the container. I found the items. I found the spot to leave it. I found the coordinates of that spot. You may have been the first to "retrieve" it, but I was the first to "find" it.

Share Your Greatest Caching View
Gidget and Scooby replied to The 2 Dogs's topic in General geocaching topics
Here is my best caching view. -
I have found such caches and I also own one just like you described. When everyone is out to get you, paranoia is just good thinking.

There seems to be a theme that is coming up a lot in this thread, "if you dont like stats then dont look". Let's take that a little further, if you don't like this page the way it is then start your own site about Geocaching and you can design it however you want. I'm not saying that you shouldn't make suggestions but once The Powers That Be have heard those suggestions (repeatedly) and have stated their opinion on the matter then that should be the end of it. Shouldn't it? When everyone is out to get you, paranoia is just good thinking.
-
How many threads about stats does it take before people realize that if The Powers That Be wanted them then they would be on the site. When everyone is out to get you, paranoia is just good thinking.

Owning a cache as a priviledge, not a right.
Gidget and Scooby replied to trippy1976's topic in Website
How in the world would this "result in higher quality caches"? Does the ability to shell out a few bucks suddenly make you more insightfull about what would make a "quality" cache? If you're a member and you are trying to get more people to pony up some dough then just make all your caches "Members Only". That might get a few more people to join. I doubt it but you never know. When everyone is out to get you, paranoia is just good thinking. -
I've heard that it requires a fight to the death but that could just be a rumor.
