    First To Find

My two new caches placed yesterday stayed unfound for less than 24 hours, and it isn't even weekend. How do we keep GR in the office?
  3. Now what happened again this weekend? Your geocoins are still welcome here in South Africa
  4. Back from Mpumalanga and I have three Myth coins in my possesion. Two of these were from Fish Eagle, who I visited last night and also met GPSstorm. Thanks for the beers!!! Unfortunately this morning did not turn out as I had planned, so "Your choice" will be done on my next visit. Did some great caching in between, but unfortunaely could not place a few caches, as the places I saw as fit for caches were to close to caches already placed. Will have to place them on our holiday in MP between 21 and 27 September. QFC, let me know how to get a coin(s) to you. Who else wants a Myth coin?
  5. When I am back in Jhb, I will make sure I get the Myth or Twin Peaks coin to you, if I have found some of them
  6. To do what??? Oh caching you mean
  7. And I thought the "Twin Peaks Geocoin" had something to do with Sandy Bay However I will only be around Nelspruit, so if this coin gets a bit closer by Monday morning, I will attempt to get it. Definately will try and get a few of the Mtyh coins to bring to GP.
  8. I will be off to Nelspruit on business on Monday afternoon (4 September), returning Wednesday (6 September) sometime. I may have a bit of time for caching, so if there is any specific request, let me know and I will see what I can do. No promises, however those "Myth's Copper Travel Coin's" looks very tempting!!!
  9. According to my GSAK there should be around 15 caches in the Limpopo province.
  10. Just to illustrate Nkuhlu. When we arrived here to do the cache, there was a full grown elephant right next to the picnic spot between the cache and the picnic spot. Also, a lot of packaging companies around Gauteng sells "honey jars", if that is your size for under R5 per jar, clean and brand new.
  11. Thanks Mad Max the Meerkat, Please send Co-ords of the places you mentioned. I think we have agreed (Alida and myself) that it would be best to attact the MP caches out of Sabie. Hmmm, sounds like a war coming up, needs to go and fecth a few geocoins and TBS!!! Will be in touch shortly regarding accomodation, but I think it is a definate.
  12. OK, it is official now. We have booked KNP for 21 to 23 September and will now look at other accomodation around Graskop / Sabie for 24 to 27 September. Any suggestions on great B&Bs are welcome. Any suggestions on nice eating venues around Graskop, Sabie, Pelgrims will also be appreciated. I know of the German guy in Sabie with those amazing pancakes and then there was a place in Graskop that made the most delicious homemade bread when we had lunch there once. Don't know where this place is anymore or the name. Please let me have some suggestions. Obviously these must be along decent caching routes I will give a bit more detail on my cache wishlist for the area once, final routes have been planned. Oh yes, we are thinking of placing a few caches in the area (to show appreciation) and would then ask for MP cachers to look after these. I know Fish Eagle has already said they would be more than willing to look at the maintenance of these. Any others are more than welcome, then the load can be shared. Don't know where yet, but should have an idea by the end of the week.
  13. Thanks for offering to rescue Rumpus and take him to Cape Town. Much appreciated!!!
  14. Fur us it was GPS, same as most others, as we aquired the GPS for navigation into "uncharted" areas such as Botswana, Mozambiue, etc for overlanding. Well, before we could do that we discovered Geocaching and still need to get into the uncharted areas.
  15. As we have caches in KNP as well, herewith my view on the subject. 1. DO NOT place a cache outside of demarkated areas, where you are allowed to exit your vehicle. If it is outside a demarkated place, then it must be accesable from inside the vehicle. There is one such a cache, namely "Survivor Tree Mail". 2. I don't think just food attracts animals, but may be easier to find by smell, I have seen them opening ladies "Vanity cases" as well (There may now be a view baboons and monkeys, that won't have off spring for quite some time) :-). The issue must be to limit the possibility of detecting the container via smell, how best I'm not sure. 3. When picking a spot in a Nat Park, you must consider all of the following: (a) Are you allowed to walk around / get out of your vehicle here? ( Are there wild animals around that may feed on your container? © Pick a cache container of appropriate size for the reason of lasting in the area you are placing it, i.e. if a regular size cache would be to easy to be detected / discovered by non-cachers and animals, what about a small or micro (I know people do not like micro's, but if this is your only choice left, well...
  16. Please help Rumpus get to Cape Town, I will pay bribes if necessary.
  17. Hmmm up that mountain (sorry Capetonians, hill I mean) again? Nope not for me, and that cold wind blowing up there? Enjoy!!! Maybe I should get through to a few easier ones during lunch time, just to get out of the office. Crystalfairy, Travel Bug Hotel, Sudoku is on my list for today, this weekend maybe.
  18. If anyone gets near Worcester, Shail Trail, please retrieve Rumpus Compass and maybe this guy can move towards the EC. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink
  19. Hi there, Welcome back!!! Remember the "lost" sunglasses from JHB-South that we placed at your cache "Lime Kilns"? See there is another cache nearby now. Brings back memories of starting out in caching.
  20. I have one of these cards as well, but I AFAIK Rietvlei does not feature on their list, as this is not a National Resevre, but only a reserve belonging to Pretoria / Tshwane, thus showing the Wildcard at Rietvlei will only give you a blank stare, nothing more.

    1928!

Forgot to add; obvisouly must "original cache contents" be preserved somewhere else, and maybe photos of original information be published in cache write up
  22. warthog

    1928!

Sounds like a cache someone needs to adopt Don't think the cache owner will be found easily
  23. Now Mr GR, what is this blank stare (comment I mean)???
  24. When was the original Geocaching.za.net website officially launched?
  25. While you are there (at Shangri-La), Rumpus Compass would like to move as well
