  1. Hurray!! My first cointest! Please count me in.....thank you, 'tis a gorgeous coin. Happy New Year to all!
  2. I find it ironic that the Swastika drew such fervor and a rejection by GS, while one of the more sought after GC sets in the Civil War series of 10, most of which bear the rebel flag. I, for one would love one of the original design coins to go with my new Titanic coin. This GC is like any other, collect what you like, overlook the rest. As for legality, an owner could clearly state in the GC mission that it is not to travel to certain areas of the world if he/she so chooses. I appreciate your anniversary coins and would prefer the true replica. GS needs to quit trying to re-write history by refusing to acknowledge its existence. The coin was not to commemorate the old Nazi Germany, but rather to memorialize those who lost their lives aboard this "magnificent" airship.
  3. It is not working for me either. *UPDATE: Inside of the Geocaching app, I logged out of my account and back in and trackables are now working. App was working beautifully on iPad2 until 4.6.0. Now it returns a "no results" and "no geocaches were found" for nearby search. IPhone 3GS finds PLENTY. Tried to reboot, reinstall app, and change user...same no result, My iPad had become my go-to device for impromptu GCing. PLEASE HELP!! Last update: turned on ignore list, reloaded app, turned off ignore list, reloaded app. All is now working!?! UPDATE: checked iPhone version. It is still 4.5.9. Afraid to update it, lest I lose another device!
  4. There are No Rules for Geocoins, there is only etiquette and the main etiquette is to move the geocoin. Coins are property, they belong to the owner. no one else - For someone else To change the 'rules' for something that you own is not correct i agree some what but what about a tattoo tb, or car tb, or name tag tb or the tb's on shirts they are not moved by people but discovered so why would i go in and delete all of the logs of people that discovered my tattoo... because then everyone would loose that icon. because even when its a tattoo its still just a regular tb that i had that number put on to my arm so technically i could sell that number if i decided too (not sure what good it would do )lol but i could also you stated that there are no rules for this i think thats what alot of us are saying. there needs to be a rule to cover this Well for one, TB's Have no real value once activated. they are not the same as a geocoin. but if you sell yours then yes, the new owner should have the ability to delete any logs they want to. oh and I disagree about rules for geocoins. They are property and no rules should be set down on something you own, and remember there are no guarantees in life. just cause you write something, does not mean it will be there forever. TBs are not the same as geocoins?? From a collecting/trading standpoint that may be correct, but from a geocaching standpoint, I feel it highlights a point that is being overlooked...they share one unique trait - a tracking number. While the physical trackable (and any intrinsic value it may have) is in fact the sole property of its owner, the tracking number, in essence, is community property that is shared between Groundspeak, the owner and those who have found (discovered, grabbed, etc)the trackable according to established GS rules. At that point the tracking logs become part of the geocacher's unique history. It is from that perspective that I feel deleting logs is an intrusion onto others' property. If there were a way for a new owner to "clean up" a trackable (of any kind) to make it feel new to him or her without the perceived theft of a portion of someone else's history, I would be all for it. BUT, the current mechanisms on GS do not provide for such a non-invasive cleaning. I am glad that someone has opened this for GS to address and appreciate some of the ideas that have been presented to protect the rights of all parties. Let's continue a productive dialog and find the middle ground where agreement lives.
  5. While I do not have a dog in this fight, I have enjoyed those post that are well though-out and clearly conveyed. I do take issue with the above statement because I do keep my stats using GSAK among other tools and would certianly notice if one of my unique trackable "finds" were to suddenly vanish. While I do have several "discovers", I take more joy in actually moving GCs and TBs along their way; The icons are a pleasant bonus. As for the used car analogy, I agree New vs Used = Unactivated vs Activated. Therefore, deleting the previous logs = rolling back the mileage on the used car to presumably increase its worth. However, that's a false "worth". The car/coin still has the mileage/history...it's just been hidden. Exactly my point (and why I used the term presumably). Anyone who pays a little more for an activated "no logs" coin is obviously not thinking clearly, since logs are so easily "rolled-back".

  7. I am a veteran who wound up unemployed for 6 months when the current administration took office. After a long job hunt that took me out of GCing for awhile, I have a great job supporting the network for the Dept of VA; a veteran supporting veterans I had to move and have been unable to sell or rent the former home so things are a bit tight and I have only recently been able to return to my GC love. I went to the local 11-11-11 event and met many local GCers and am excited about getting more involved again. When flying jets, I collected military patches as part of the love, now my GC love virtually requires me to collect coins (they're so purty, u kno'). So far I have taken pics of others' coins as I move them from cache to cache, but a friend gave me a personal coin and I bought one at the 11-11-11 event. I'm hooked on collecting my own now!! PICK ME, PICK ME!!!
  8. Just got my new 400t and did all the updates. I see the same issue of garbled text in the description on a couple cahces. One in particular is Weeping Angel. I, too think it is proably an issue with the description containing a table-formatted puzzle. I used GSAK.
  9. What version of Cachemate are you using. I have 1.3.0 and can see all 10 of the logs I am exporting from GSAK. The export dialog for GPX files lets you specify the number of logs to export to save space as needed.
