  1. I would like to adopst some of your Earthcaches. I have 7 in the NE Ohio region & 1 in NY.
  2. I have a cache in my local area... GCYBHK. It was disabled on March 9, 2009. The reviewer posted a note on July 9, 2009 that they would review it in two weeks. Being today is August 10th, nothing has been done. This one should have been archived long, long ago because the last person found it was back on May 10, 2008.
  3. I used to trade cheesy items when I first started. Now I only deal with coins and travel bugs. Unless there is something I could use I leave everything behind. I think we need a lot more travel bugs and coins to go into caches. The plastic toys and candy bars need to stay at home. At the very bare minimum leave a signature item.
  4. I have some nice coins that I woud like to get miles but I don't trust them in caches because I know some of them will go missing. That is why I am making a copy of them at Kinkos. They will be in heavy duty plastic and they will be able to travel around while I keep the original coin. If it goes missing I will make another copy of it.
  5. I also agree that with all the hype of this coin the design is average at best. I was expecting something more artistic. I would have been cool to issue a set of geocoins that were made of black marble with the design and artwork engraved into it. It would have been a harder coin to make and mass produce. It would also cost a lot more than $9.99 but it would have been a one of a kind coin to own and it would have been made with a natural hard stone. This kind of coin would have been a collectable and most people would not let these out of their collection. I would then have made a coin for trading, just like the one they issued for $9.99. If they issue a 2nd coin down the road I hope they hire an artist or designer to make it. Saying that I still ordered two of them because I'm sure they will sell out quickly and once there gone good luck getting one.
  6. I just bought two coins. I'll keep one for myself and sell the other on e-bay and hopefully I will raise enough money to cover the cost of the one I will keep.
  7. I was out out with Capt. B from the O'Hara Cache Crew and I just finished my journey. I'm now a Platinum Earthcache Master. I have done Eathcaches in OH, TX, PA, NY, & Canada. I just finished publishing my 8th Erathcache as well. It was fun to do. I look forward to publishing more. Maybe they will have Titanium Level where you have to visit 6 states, countires, or provinces and publish 5 Earthcaches. That would be cool.
  8. I would say keep Crab Soul around. The more he speaks the more laughs I get. If he lists a cache then nobody should find his. I wouldn't look in storm drains. And where the heck would he hid a cache the size of a fridge??? He is a form of entertaiment to me. Let him keep speaking.. MEOW....MEOW....
  9. I would report them. I was recently on a Boardman, Ohio run with several others and I requested that 3 caches be looked into for maint. because we were with a guide who knew the area and found all the caches we were going after. The three in question have not been found in months and the cache owner has not logged into geocaching.com for months and never responded to the main. request. I think that if your going to hide caches you need to look after them and post acurate information about them. There are three others in my area where they have not been found since spring 2008 and have many DNF's.
  10. We have a few cars leaving different parts of Northeast Ohio tomorrow morning to make a numbers run in Boardman. Anyone who would like to go let us know. We have about 10-12 people so far. I have about 85 caches listed to do tomorrow.
  11. I didn't check out other sites because the only site I would be using it for is geocaching.com so I could use it in the field. I'm going back to Verizon tomorrow to see if they could explain how users could get the full content of the site.
  12. The store in Mayfield Heights, Ohio on Mayfield Road has two phones on display. You could call them directly and verify this. My phone and gxn's phone did the same thing. We both were signed into the site. We both got the pages blacked out. I'm not throwing any B.S. around. Just the facts.
  13. ****UPDATE*** My friend gxn11 just got his Blackberry Storm and it does the same thing. He gets 1/2 of the cache page up and thats it. The top half is all blocked out. He said he is going to return his on Friday. What a waste. I thought I would have a "complete" browser on a phone but am disapointed I cannot access the whole site. What a shame.
  14. I log into the site on the blackberry and then when I try to pull up a chace page it still shows a black screen on 1/2 of the page. I'm not sure what software the device uses. I just came back from them and they had their tech guy look at it and he said that the black area is restricted by the site not verizion.
  15. Your right. You can pull up any page from the geocaching.com website. The only thing problem is a big black box cover the location of the cache and general info you need to locate it. The only part of the cache page you could view is the cache description and the logs. As a matter of faxt when I was trying to search for caches within my zip code within a 5 mile radius I was not able to click the "OK" button to search for them. This happened to the one I just returned and also the two other they had on dispaly at the store. The tech area said that the storm is a full web browser but you may no be able to get all the data you want. That is why they said Groundspeak may have an agreement with apple to only launch their application on their phones.
  16. I went to upgrade to a Blackberry Storm this morning because it claimed to have full access to the internet. I wanted to use it in the field to look up caches and post my fiinds in real time. I know they released an application for the iphone but I dont want to switch carriers. My biggest gripe is when you pull up a cache description page it blacks out the 1st half of the page. You cannot get any info on it. I called verizon's tech dept. and they said that Groundspeak has an agreement with Apple and that I would not have access to the information I'm looking for. As soon as I relaized I could not do anything on the web site from this phone I returned it. The sales person was shocked because he said I was the only one to return the phone because they sold out of them so quick. I told him that since I cannot use it for geocacing I wasn't interested in it. Let me know if anyone else has this problem and if so how I would be able to work around it.
  17. I have a few ideas for some historical sites for Earthcaches I would like to do a few of them. Has anyone published any of these ??
