  1. I just take all the money and leave a trinket in return. I'm broke, but have plenty of trinkets. --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  2. quote:Originally posted by Keystone Approver:If that webcam were submitted as a webcam cache, it is highly unlikely that it would be approved. There is no way to tell whether the person in the picture is a geocacher or just someone passing by. The safety concern is also an issue. When reviewing a webcam cache, the approvers look for a webcam where the geocacher can be identified by looking at the picture. Not every webcam is suitable as a webcam cache. |x*x-x|x*x-x|x*x-x|x*x-x|x*x-x|x*x-x|x*x-x| Keystone Approver, Geocaching.com Admin "Eschewing Entropy and Ensuring Enthalpy in the Groundspeak Forums" Forgot to comment on this earlier. NO ONE would ever be in this photo, at this particular location unless they were doing roadwork. The only way to get here is to cross 2 lanes of busy street and stand in the divider between the lanes (2 on each side) It's right next to a huge highway overpass too. --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  3. I added another picture of me " holding up a sign" And, Bull Moose, YES!! That's exactly where it is! It's actually next to the overpass over 90/94. The street is High Crossing Blvd. The movie theater (Eastgate Cinema) is to the right, and East Washington/151 is way off in the background. --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  4. Sig items are OK I guess, but they're kind of a grey area for me... I'm not sure if I should trash them out, or leave them there even though the growing stack of sig cards and sig items is taking up space in the cache, and really isn't useful or worth anything... I do however LOVE the idea of leaving CITO items (like the ones Rubeeslpr leaves!) Basically film containers that have a kitchen sized trash bag in them. Speaking of film containers, go out and get some!! Most any photo processing joint will be more than happy to give you a ton! I got 30 from a place not 2 blocks from my house. --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  5. The Arc LS - 10 times brigher than a normal LED flashlight (and probably brighter than most regular flashlights), and fits on a keychain. http://store.yahoo.com/flashlight/ One of these days I'm gonna get one! --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  6. quote:in Finland we have this thing called http://www.metsakeskus.fi/pk/fine_jokamies_e.html, which gives all Finns access to forests regardless of who owns the forest. Oh how I wish I lived in Finland! I hate private forests!! I also hate forests that, during certain times of the year, if you're caught in one without an ugly orange jumpsuit on, someone might accidentally shoot you... Grumble grumble... Stupid drunk hunters... --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  7. I don't mind seeing play-dough, but I've never taken any because there was always something in those caches that was cooler. The tiny pots of play dough (size of an old 50 cent piece or so) are the one's I'm talking about. I also see them all over the place... I try to hit every cache within 50 miles of my house, and I see a lot of the same types of items. It's a bit dissapointing when there's some useless junk and a hot wheels car in EVERY cache... Variety is always a good thing. --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  8. Coolest thing I ever found was a full set of Marble chess pieces! (No board, but we have one). I don't know how much it might be worth, but it sure looks great! I leave golf balls because I don't golf, and they're EVERYWHERE!!! I find about 1 or 2 every time I go out geocaching!! I'd rather have them in a cache than being eaten by squirrels (I've seen many a munched golf ball) --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  9. Well, there's only 1 other webcam cache in the area (and only about 2 in the whole state!) It's right near my house... It's a pretty wide grassy bit?? I dunno, not many pros I guess. --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  10. At what point does a webcam cache become unacceptible? I found a webcam that is pointed at a grassy divider in the middle of a very busy street! Pictures of me at the webcam are here: Standing at the location didn't seem all that dangerous, but _getting there_ might be a bit dangerous (crossing 2 lanes of a highway basically) There is a sidewalk next to the road though. Plus, the height of a person in the pictures is VERY small, and almost not worth it! Thoughts? Suggestions? --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  11. Thanks! I've emailed wga and will wait for a response. This brings me to a gripe about how the site functions... It really shouldn't tell you this: This cache has not been approved yet. Once it is approved, it will be listed on the site. when it should say something about needing to email the admins to get it re-submitted! I thought the system did this on it's own because of the message it gave me. I waited 3 weeks when 2 days would have done! --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  12. We tried to place two caches a while back, and they were in bad places (they were immediately archived) So we moved them, and it says they're waiting for approval... Well, they're still waiting after almost 3 weeks! Help! How can we get these caches to submit? The cache names are BBC1 and BBC2 or: (GCGY9X and GCGYA3) --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  13. My friend has a Toyota Supra with a huge turbocharger and plenty of racing upgrades. The only problem is that his spedometer only goes up to 140 Mph. He maxed it out once and had to use the RPM gauge and some crazy math to figure out how fast he was going. (about 174 Mph) Now if he had had a GPS with him, he wouldn't have had to guess, or do all that math! --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  14. I'm writing a program for my home computer that listens for the phone to ring. When it detects a ring, it grabs a snapshot of a local web-cam cache. In other words, you don't need anyone to take your photo at the webcam cache, just dial your own phone number on your cellphone! --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
  15. We placed 2 caches recently that were archived by the moderator because they were in a bad location. We removed the caches, found new places for them, and placed them far away from where they were originally. It's been 2 weeks, and they are STILL awaiting approval! How long should this take to re-approve? It says on the cache pages that they are awaiting approval, not that they have been re-archived. Thanks, --Tree (o< -!! // Never laugh at live V_/_ penguins.
