  1. Okay, I think I got it. I setup a query that lists caches that I don't own, that I haven't found, and that are still active. I see there is a preview page which displays a search based on my query. All is good!
  2. Sounds a little complicated, but I'll give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
  3. I would like the ability to filter out "disabled" and "archived" caches from search results. Thank you.
  4. I'd love to have an outing this Spring or Summer!
  5. Yeah, I'm about 10 miles from N 43 46.436.
  6. In town, my Garmin eTrex takes a good minute or two to aquire enough satellites to start navigating, and a minute or two more to really get the accuracy rate down around 20 feet or so. I've only gone out to find two caches, but I turn the GPS on in the car when I leave my house, and place it on the dash. That way I get to track my entire trip, and when I show up to the cache site, the unit already has locked in on the satellites pretty good. The unit is supposed to run for 22 hours on one set of batteries, and after much playing around in town and a solid 7 hours straight of GeoCaching last weekend without turning the unit off, I'm inclined to believe it. So just turn the unit on when you leave the house, and bring some extra batteries just in case. That's what I'm going to do on my future GeoCaching outings.
  7. The Devil's Gulch cache isn't terribly hard to find, but it is very scenic and located at a famous Jesse James landmark.
  8. If there are no groups in the area, is there any interest? Is anyone in the area interested in getting together for an informal gathering sometime in August or September?
  9. You don't have to post information about the cache location to prove you were there. Instead you could post something about the contents of the cache. For example, you could say that I took XXX and left YYY, etc.

It is only 3k and all that, but I can't select it as an option for the pull down menu for avatar choices. What gives? Btw, in my case, I have tried to log out and log in again. I've even set my profile to No Avatar, logged out, then logged in and tried to set it and still no go, only gives me the original avatar image as an option in the pull down menu.

  12. Why didn't any of you people tell me how fun this sport was before now!? I will say that the advice of waypointing your car is good, because I didn't do it on my second cache and walked around a bit more than I needed to. [This message was edited by SkolVikings on July 13, 2003 at 11:27 AM.]
  13. Are there any organized GeoCaching groups in the souteast South Dakota or southwest Minnesota area? [This message was edited by SkolVikings on July 12, 2003 at 06:07 PM.]
