  2. I donated over $100 worth of trophies to the IECacher.com bash last year. The park is free. Everyone brought potluck food. Where is the $300 in expenses and where are the other events? There is not much truth or logic behind most anything attached to IE Cachers.com. Visit www.iecachers.org for the rest of the story.
  3. It's Jeremy's Sand Box and he gets to make the rules. The sad part is just like the big bully in the 2nd grade, he has no qualms about living by a different set of rules. This will be my last post, so flame away, delete, lock, kick me out, or do whatever your heart desires. I will not respond and any more emails will be deleted. If you chose to ban my account, so be it. I have made plenty of face to face friends and they are all as disenchanted as me with the overall direction the game hs been heading recently.
  4. OMG.....It is amazing that you accuse me of intentionally leaving out important information on this forum. I never posted a single email onto this forum...you did. And you are the one that left out part of the email...This just goes from bad to worse. You archived the cache without any investigation. That was and still is the point of this whole thread. If this is your policy....just say so and move on. It would be 1 more in a long line of decisions made recently that have changed the game...and not for the better.
  5. At least you make it quite clear that "My Dime" isn't buying any customer service.
  6. GCHP5T http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...62-6a93d76a6e12 kerrysol posted a note stating "The cache is located on private property" kerrysol did not and as of yet has not contacted WestwardHo and asked her a single question about the cache. kerrysol did not contact either So Cal Admin or West Coast Admin to inquire about any private property issues. The cache is located about 50' off a popular horse trail in the city of Norco. I have included pictures that I took this morning while at the site with WestwardHo. The pictures are of the parking area, the City of Norco sign indicating that it is their trail, the trail up the hill to the cache site and looking each direction from the cache. There are more pictures on the cache page taken by individual cachers with a disposable camera in the cache. Click on the thumnails to view a larger picture. I am 99% sure this cache is on property owned and maintained by the City of Norco, not an individual homeowner. The City of Norco is closed on Fridays. On Monday I will call and in fact confirm that they own the horse trail. Why would kerrysol archive a cache on a email from a homeowner claiming the cache is on private property without any investigation?
  7. Change can be painful sometimes. And that attitude of yours is why this customer is leaving. I realize I am a small fish in the Groundspeak ocean, but if enough customers swim elsewhere TPTB might actually get the message.
  8. I have personnaly dropped over 2000 nontrackable FishPOET geocoins in caches. I have never sold a single one. As of today with your new policy, if I chose to sell a few and announce it on your forum, your moderators would delete my post. Yes I am mad.
  9. Aren't signature items meant to be put in caches? Or are you speaking of individual GREED here? If it was so innocent they would be happy to sell them at cost, right? Did you actually read nicolos post? More often than not geocachers sell some of their sig items to offset the cost involved. This also allow cachers from all over the world to collect that sig item.
  10. How much more out of touch can you be? We are talking about individual geocachers announcing their sig items on gc.com forums and you will not allow it beacuase you didn't get your EXTRA share. GREED....plain and simple.
  11. This sad day has been coming for quite some time and I see many more sad days ahead with the poor decisions being made at the top. I have already started archiving all my caches. I will retrieve a few every week until they are all gone. I feel like tossing my 4 year collection of sig items in the round file. Congratulations Groundspeak.
  12. It is quite unfortunate that you are completely unnappreciative of where "Your Dime" comes from. How many tens of thousands of dollars did Groundspeak make last year on tracking and coin icons?
  13. from the guidlines: Personal Attacks and Flames will not be tolerated. <snip>general attacks on a person will not be tolerated.
  14. If you are caching with 1 or more people in a group and you are not FTF of the group, should you log it as a find? If you are not FTF at an event cache, should you log it as a find?
  15. from the cache page: This is a Free Clinic that will cover the basics of Geo-Gaching and GPS Units. Time 7PM-8PM, August 18. Details on GPS Hunt Game where you can win GPS Related Products, will also be discussed this evening. One of my friends from the NFS lives in the area and he has an interest in geocaching. He showed up at the event. It should have been a wonderful introduction to the game and/or how gps units work. It wasn't. He did leave. What do you think his opinion of geocaching is now? I do appreciate the comments by Bryan and I really hope this doesn't happen again.
  16. The thread was locked too soon. I was at a geocaching event all day yesterday and did not get a chance to reply to my own thread. Instead of caching I guess I should have stayed home and followed the thread. Maybe if I had 35 finds and 1025 posts then my post would have stayed unlocked longer. This was a perfect analogy for what happened at the event. Put yourself in this situation and honestly ask yourself how you would feel. If Rothstafari dosen't want to accept my account of the "event" all he has to do is contact FullOn to find out what happened. It may be Groundspeak's playground, but they still have to accept some accountability for the Magellen Explorist commercial disguised as an "Event Cache"
  17. from the reviewer: The recent event at REI was obviously not in compliance with the guidelines as we all know them. Groundspeak approved this event and notified me via email to list it.
  18. For years we were told that containers, logbooks and 528' were the "essence" of the game.....then along came earthcaches. Now Groundspeak has sold us out to REI and Magellan. A 1 hour Magellan Explorist commercial at the local REI was thrust upon us as an "Event Cache" http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCQ2YT Rules and guidlines MUST apply to everyone equally or they are useless.
  19. The Sierra Club has been putting caches on peaks in NPs for many years. So I guess it is just geocaching.com caches that are not allowed.
  20. How does the non-caching world view us? It's Saturday morning and you are working in your garage. You see a car pull up to the house across the street and a middle age man gets out and starts looking for something in your neighbors ivy. You are a soccer mom and you are at the neighborhood park with your 2.5 children. A middle age man walks up alone and starts exploring the underside of the playground equipment. You are a teacher at the local middle school and you notice a middle age man looking around in the bushes near the school sign. You are at the train station and you notice a middle age man looking under all the newspaper racks. You are at the local Police Department. You notice a middle age man looking for something in the landscaping near the front entrance. What would the logs read? Great hide? Enjoyed the cache? Thanks for bringing me here? Could some cache locations affect the game in an adverse way? And what can/should we do?
  21. Actually it is quite easy to maintain a large number of caches. I have 75 ammo box hides that are waterproof, with large log books, hidden where they get visited 10-15 times a year. How much maintenance do they need? 75 lame altoids tin hides would be a different story.
  22. "Willow Creek Cache" is near a 50" trail (3W12)in the San Bernardion National Forest and "Across the Bridge" is near a 4WD dirt road. There are also 3 in the Silverwood Lake area, 2 in the Green Valley Lake Area area and many in the Big Bear Area, all accesible by dirt roads. I will be placing a few more out on the ATV trails in the Lake Arrowhead area in the near future. Doug
