  1. Most of the time we are just out for the hunt and don't take along the bag of swag for trades. On one occassion we were on a road trip and stopped at an exit to seek a nearby cache. A trinket caught our eye as something we really wanted, with nothing to trade we didn't want to 'steal' the item and thought the fair thing to leave was cash. At least someone later could trade for it or the CO could use it for restocking swag.
  2. We would be interested in a multi-year membership. Discounted as some magazines subscriptions.
  3. Our last placement was an LPC where I took one reading, then went home for a container and preped the cache page. Upon return checked that the original coords were horseshoe/hand grenade accurate. Then submitted the cache report. All finders have not had a problem with it. On another location I averaged for several minutes, then used that to renavigate to the spot when I returned with the container, the averaged somemore for the published coords.
  4. This one can. I agree with what you're saying, I'm just pointing out a useful resource when talking about geocaching. But,that dictionary doesn't define 'boilerplate'
  5. Got curious and ran a PQ of 100 miles. Found 388 disabled.
  6. Good start on the statistics page; however would like to see colored in maps of the areas we have cached.
  7. I'm impressed by his feat: wouldn't mind trying it myself.
  8. There was one in this general area until someone requested an NA due to this being a "family friendly" sport. It was promptly archived by the local reviewer.
  9. Our first find is still active and should remain so as we adopted it several months later when we learned the CO had left the the state.
  10. I've used the Ibyscus maps on my Colorado 300. Though not routable they are quite helpful with the added street detail.
  11. Recently we located a cache that wouldn't open. No sign no find, so we made it a DNF, but stated in the log that we believed we had actually found it. Sent an email to CO describing the container and the possible mtce issue. They responded that we should claim the find. Without their approval we weren't going to take because we didn't SIGN LOG.
  12. Enquiring minds would like to know if the finder thought it was rated fairly.
  13. We have two (actually one is now archived because it went MIA) on pedestrian bridges over Interstate highways here in Cleveland, OH
  14. The Dakota 10 manual says it will do it If you want to do by hand see this page: http://www.factsfacts.com/geocachingsoft/A...Coordinates.htm
  15. Aren't they using the scuba attribute on the E.T. Highway just to make to isolate them from caches in the area?
  16. I use the Cache Register product purchased from DeLorme on my PN-40.
  17. I feel that's an acceptable exception. Sure it is. The question was about logging your own caches. They weren't his caches when he logged them. Begs the question, if you adopt a cache that you have never found, then you find it, should you count it as a valid find now that you own it? Personally I would as I didn't 'know' where it was.
  18. It is your problem if you are cited or arrested, not my problem. If I know there are restrictions in place at the cache location I'll post them, then finder beware.
