  1. Good information all! And thanks very much. I will contact previous owner, and get info. It is a great spot and I think fairly quiet. But good idea to check with last owner. Again Thanks!
  2. Awhile back I wanted place a cache at a certain location, got it all ready went to post it and discovered someone had beat me to the location! Darn it! Well it was a good cache, but now it is archived. So my question is what the rules for placing a diffrent cache on the same hill top, but diffrent coords (maybe 50' away), and diffrent container, where a archived cache was? Thanks is advance! DWPSCO
  3. I have a Explorist 210. A while back whenever I turned the unit on, it would give me a message about Configuring the NAND, no matter what I did it would just immediately shut off, when I would turn it on again same message same result. I don’t know exactly what NAND is but the factory, agreed to send me a Explorist 500 for free to replace it. OK deal says I! So the Explorist 210 sat on a shelf for awhile, until today I got bored and took the thing apart, 5 small Phillips head screws on the back. I separated the two halves and pulled out the circuit board, and then I pulled off the buttons membrane. I then hooked the unit up to my computer though the USB cord and turned it on. Got the same message, hit the enter button on the ‘joystick’ and something new happened! Instead of turning off, it said it was configuring! After a few seconds it did turn off. This time when I turned it back on, BINGO it’s working again!!! Stuck Button membrane was the cause of all my frustrations. But hey got a Explorist 500 out of the deal ;-) Hopes this helps anyone else who has had this problem.
  4. Once the Pocket query has been submitted it takes time for the GPX file to arrive in your e-mail inbox. Once it does, open and save the Zip file to your local hard drive. unzip. from here I use GASK ( http://gsak.net/ ). I love it check it out if you dont have it. Then I use GASK to transfer all the caches I want to search for that day to my Magellan eXpolist GPSr.
  5. I'm a newbe (started 12 Dec 07 - 74 Finds so far) and I want to place a cache. I have a great place, with a killer view, and an intresting place. BUT Looking down the cliff I can see another exsiting cache place. To get to the other cache is over .1 mile because one would have to walk around the cliff. But mine would fall into the .1 mile "do not place zone" Would it be inappropriate to place one at my new location?
  6. My wife drives I navagate, in a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton 4x4.
