  1. Yes, good idea, I will add some more clues then there won't be any excuses. Thanks to everyone for all your positive responses.
  2. Thanks for all your positive responses, folks. It looks like it stays! It should still be in reasonable condition as it is an ammo can. Personally, I'm actually attracted to caches that haven't been found for a long time.
  3. I have a puzzle cache which has been found a few times, but not since 16th March 2008. Should I archive it? The puzzle's not that difficult as several people have decoded it without any help and the location is easily accessible. These days it seems like unless the cache is part of a ring of 20 or more, there isn't much interest in finding it.
  4. I'm planning on visiting Luxembourg City in August and wondered if anyone had any cache recommendations?
  5. OK, I have a question. I don't have a dog, but sometimes I have found myself in a field with some cows that have decided to walk over and take an interest in me. Which is the best course of action: 1. Walk calmly away from them and exit the field ASAP 2. Run away from them as quickly as possible 3. Try to shoo them away by shouting loudly and waving your arms 4. Something else
  6. Mine is sim free. I use it in the Uk with three PAYG or orange PAYG. I also use it abroad with vodafone.nl. Works fine. J Thanks, I will have to give it another try.
  7. Could I ask what network you're on? I could never get my 6220 to work with my Vodafone account.
  8. To not forget to waypoint where I've parked my car.
  9. That is brilliant news. Thank you for all your efforts in bringing this about.
  10. I use my GPS to waymark my car when I've parked at a big event - saves me having to remember where it was!
  11. Very well done on your amazing achievement You could always slow down to give mere mortals a chance now
  12. Thank you, Tim, for all your suggestions "behind the scene". Unfortunately, I am still failing to make this work. Because this phone is not officially supported by Trimble, I don't get any response from them to my emails - not even a "go away"! I would be very grateful if anyone with a technical knowledge of how the Trimble application communicates with the Trimble server could advise me on how to debug this. Thanks, Nigel.
  13. I'm having trouble getting The Trimble Geocache Navigator software to work with my Nokia 6220 Classic and Vodafone. I have a data plan and can surf the web from the phone. I run the application but it fails to connect and appears to get a bit of html fro the Vodafone Live website. I don't know how to check or change any settings. I would like to hear from anyone that uses this combination to see if it is possible! Thanks, Nigel.
  14. Will Geocache Navigator work on the Nokia 6220 Classic with Vodafone here in the UK? I have downloaded the application and it appears to start up but I get "Server Error 500" when I try to connect (after entering my phone number and pin).
  15. I get the same error too with any cartridge I've tried playing. This is a major issue because the only way I can do a Wherigo cache is to make sure I can complete it in one session and hope my batteries don't run out of charge and the program doesn't crash! I use an iPAQ H2100.
  16. I'm using HP iPaq 2210 with a bluetooth GPS. For the record the player is very poor at finding the GPS signal when I feed it through GPS Gate, showing that "GPS Device Detection in Progress..." message without ever giving up, while if I let it have sole direct access to the GPS on the bluetooth port it generally finds it. The error occurs at different moments in the play that I can't pin down, though I've never had more than a few minutes' play before it happens. The cartridge runs fine in the builder emulator. I'm using the same PDA as you with a bluetooth GPS and I've not seen this problem. It might be worth you trying the latest version of the player, although I was using the older version.
  17. This one: http://www.Wherigo.com/cartridge/details.a...fb-daa9bcbdcdc1
  18. A cacher successfully loaded a Cartridge onto their player by copying it to the recommended directory and it work fine. They then copied my Cartridge, which they had downloaded, into the same directory. The player does not show my Cartridge in it's list, only the first Cartridge. I have noticed similar behaviour myself when I've loaded my test Cartridges into my PDA. I know the Cartridge name is defined in the Cartridge rather than the file name, but the names have been different (as well as the file names). Has anyone else seen this behaviour?
  19. I've just published one . I think it is a very exciting new element to Geocaching. I love being involved with the start of anything new, so I was very enthused to have a go. I believe Groundspeak have done a superb job of providing the necessary tools to make it all work. The integration of the Builder, Simulator and Player make it relatively simple to put together a Wherigo cache. I've still a lot to learn, but if anyone wants any help, do please email me. Oh and thank you, Harrogate Hunters, for responding to my queries.
  20. WAV files are just too big, even for recordings of short phrases. Is there going to be support for including MP3 audio files?
  21. Ah I should have been more observant when looking in the forums. Thank you twolpert, that is the perfect answer. Also, can I take this opportunity to thank you for setting up the Wiki space, an excellent resource.
  22. What are the guidelines to completing a Wherigo cache? Logically to me, it would seem that the obvious thing to do is to put the completion code in the cache. This would mean that someone couldn't officially complete the cartridge till he found the physical cache. Is this correct?
  23. I want to set up a Wherigo cache using several zones which have to be visited before going to the final cache location. I set all zones to be invisible and inactive apart from the current one. Subsequent ones become visible and active as play proceeds. The trouble is, you can load the file into the emulator and see where all the zones are. Sure, the hidden and inactive zones are shown in a different colour, but you can see exactly where they all are, thus completely removing any element of surprise to the player. Is there a workaround, or will it be possible to change the emulator so that invisible zones really are invisible?
  24. Thanks for your replies, Ranger Fox. I have one zone marked active and visible, and all others inactive and invisible. I set up a question to be answered on entering the active zone. I set up an input event on that question being answered and add if-then-else to see if the users input is correct (string variable matches). If there is a match, in that if-then-else script I set the current zone to be inactive and invisible and another zone to be active and visible. I only see the new zone when I exit the current zone. I see this behaviour on the simulator and on the real PDA. Regarding the second question, the effect seems to be random. Moving around slowly or quickly doesn't seem to affect whether or not I get the effect. Sometimes I don't see it at all, other times halfway through a walk through.
