  1. Prior to yesterday, when I clicked the find button I would go to the geocacheing icon and all downloaded geos would be listed. Now it says NONE FOUND even though they are downloaded to my map page. The web page says Geocahe xxxx saved succesfully.
  2. On that page I see a closed chest nest to FIND and an open chest next to FOUND
  3. My map60cx used to save downloaded geocaches in the geocaches section of my gps, Now they are saved as waypoints. When I hit find>geocaches> NONE FOUND is what comes on the screen even though I see the geo icons on my map page. What happened? I was ok the first two years. Did I some how change how they are saved? Thanks for any help, Paul
  4. Are you talking about the round 4 pin connector on the back of your 60Cx? I don't understand how it could only have two prongs unless it's different from the earlier 60C models. No, the problem is the plug that plugs into the 12 v socket. (cigarette lighter socket)
  5. I use both a 60cx and a streetpilot 2610 on my motorcycle. The speaker/power plug on the 2610 has 4 metal prongs that hold it tight into the 12v socket but the 60cx has only two metal prongs and it's very loose when plugged in. The 60cx looses contact and shuts down real easy. I dont use them at the same time. I dont want to hard wire the units on the bike because I also use them in my other vehicles. Anyone else have this problem with the plug coming loose from the 12v power source? Paul
  6. I have the non NT version of City Nav North Amer Ver 2008 and I see 353 maps and 1726.2 MB
  7. My Streetpilot 2610 does not recognize the new 2GB Kingston CF card so I need advice at which one to buy. SanDisk has several different levels (standard, ultra, ultra II etc) and I dont know which one to try. Which ones worked for you? Thanks
  8. I did try reinstalling the new card several times but each time it is not recognized.
  9. I was trying to load City Nav North America 2008. I removed the card and put the original back in and loaded some map sections with no problem. the manual says "unrecognized data on the memory card, return for repair.
  10. I just bought a new 2 GB card for my 2610 and after the 3 hour download drill I got a "MAP STORAGE ERROR: BAD FORMAT" message. It's Kingston 2 GB flash card. Ok now what. I called Garmin and got a 35 minute waiting thing so I bailed out............ I see no way of re-formatting the card. Are the Sandisk products more reliable? Purchased from Newegg and not an Ebay imposter. Crk'd Cork
  11. I have done that two times and each time the total number and size of the maps were different. Can anyone tell me the correct number of maps and the total file size for: City Nav Ver 7 and Ver 8? I have six hours of downloading time and I think its still wrong. Thanks, Paul
  12. Is there a sure fire way to install ALL the map sections from a particular mapping program? I bought 2 GB cards for two of my Garmins (60 CX and 2610) and I want to load the entire N.American maps into my units. I tried it once already and missed a couple small sections around the big cities. Very time consuming especially when you miss a few. Cracked Cork
  13. Is there anyway to check what sections of maps are downloaded into the GPS while on the road? I just returned for a weekend motorcycle trip and somehow I missed a very important section of map when I downloaded my route from Mapsource. I had no roads at all on the unit just lakes at our destination. PAS
  14. I have used both of these units on my bike, Streetpilot 2610 and Map 60CX which are waterproof. The 2610 was bought as a reman unit and the price was good along with a 1 yr war from Garmin. I have RAM mounts for both units. Check the stores on Ebay.
  15. Here is a site stating what changes were made in the software updates. Find your model and click on it. http://www.gpsinformation.org/allory/garfeat3.htm
  16. THIS IS DIRECT FROM GARMIN Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I am happy to help you with this. It appears that the unit has gotten some corrupt data in it so to correct this I would suggest doing a hard reset on the unit. This will clear out all data in the unit and reset it to factory defaults and settings. However, you will lose all user information such as Waypoints, tracks, and routes that you have stored in your unit. If you wish to save this information before resetting your unit, you can save it to your computer using a PC interface cable and your Mapsource software. Following are instructions on how to perform a Master Reset on your unit: -With the unit turned off, press and hold the follow buttons: PAGE + ENTER, then press and release the POWER. The unit will power up asking if you want to release all user data. Select yes and the unit will be reset. After the master reset please place your unit outside so that it has a clear view of the sky for 25 to 30 minutes so that the unit can acquire new almanac data. I would also suggest updating your unit's operating system using the link below. http://www.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

  18. I just got this email from Garmin. "Thank you for contacting Garmin International. That is confusing, however you do have the correct and most up to day software. I have downloaded to my 60CSx using the same process and have the 3.0 chipset and the 3.60 software, I will contact our webmaster to update the information on the Garmin website."
  19. Here's the list: http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection....ct=010-00421-00 I prefer this method as I don't trust other sources to update my devices if I can help it. Short version, according to the phone tech person this morning. He said "GPS SW Ver 2.90 that is listed on the download page is NOT CORRECT it should be Ver 3.00". He is going to try and get the website updated to reflect the correct software. So even if I were to manually download it it would still be wrong. In this case only the webupdater gives you the correct software.
  20. I guess if you had read it more carefully you would have seen I did download and install it a couple weeks ago. Thats when all my problems started. I own two Garmins and agree that they are great units.
  21. I just got off the phone with Garmin and they told me the CURRENT software is. (for 60CX) Software Ver. 3.60 GPS SW Ver. 3.00 He said the tech that emailed me is incorrect and the website Update and download page still shows GPS SW ver 2.90 which is OUTDATED......... he said he didnt know why it has NOT been changed to ver 3.00. No wonder all the confusion!
  22. On April 02, I let the webUpdater download and install software into my 60CX and it hasnt been right since. This is what was installed. Unit software 3.60 GPS SW 3.00 I wrote to Garmin yesterday and they said I SHOULD have unit software 3.00 NOT 3.60 GPS SW 2.90 NOT 3.00 Garmins current update and download page shows (for 60CX) Unit software 3.60 NOT 3.00 LIKE TECH SUPPORT SAID GPS SW 2.90 Does anyone know what the hell is going on? Why would webUpdater install the wrong software? Why is there a disagreement between the techies and their own support page info? If he made a typo it sure has my feathers ruffled.
  23. You can copy it, but since you can't put it on another card it is a worthless as a backup. You are correct that it cannot be put on another card. It is locked to that SD Cards serial number. It is not worthless as a backup. One could accidently delete the file on the card, and replace it with the backup copy. I bought a Streetpilot 2610 and loaded parts of City Nav on a 1 GB card. Does that mean I cant buy a 2 GB card and load all the maps onto it? I thought they said it is good for one unit but I didnt think it meant one memory card, now I'm starting to wonder if I messed up.
  24. Install Google Earth and you can do it all from there.
  25. How long do you let it count, does it eventually stop ? Mine was well over 100 when I turned it off.
