  1. I thought that there was a way for premium members to see who is watching their caches, but I can't figure it out. Anyone? Thanks.
  2. Has it really been nine months? Oregon and the badlands are special, and the geocaches are spectacular. It is where I began and it is (hopefully) where I will end. I can't go out there without grabbing something. Hopefully my trip will re spark my geofire and we will see you at another event soon.
  3. The mail still runs out there? I did move the mail once on my way to Flat Iron. Thanks for the suggestions, and Logscaler I still have the box of goodies, I just haven't made the time to put everything together. Thanks again for that. -Scott
  4. If you can't get your hands on a good '00 Tracker, then I would go with the jeep. Sorry for your loss. -Scott
  5. I will be traveling home next week and I may have time for one or two geocaches while I am in central Oregon. I like challenges, but I am really all about the reward, incredible vistas, unique formations, etc.. Anyone have any suggestions for unique or epic caches in the Bend / Sunriver area. I am not afraid of the badlands either. Thanks, Skadog
  6. The best thing I ever found was a cache. A cache that wasn't burned, in a land that was scorched
  7. I am colorblind as well, but there is more than one way to spot this stuff.
  8. Grew up in Oregon, recently moved to Pennsylvania.
  9. Just as you are wondering, "what's a Bimart," Pac NWsters are wondering, "Who's Sam."
  10. My grandfather used to rub the poison stuff on his wrist every week, until his body built up an immunity to it. I did the same with poison oak, which worked, and I am working on the other two.
  11. Sorry. I'm still stuck on another bitter topic. It won't happen again.
  12. Wait a minute... is a 4X4 considered "specialized equipment?" I guess it would be since I'm sure it is more difficult for some people to operate correctly then a BOAT!
  13. eeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!
  14. Well, if you're going to do some caching in Oregon, I would suggest a trip to Central Oregon. I would also suggest you check out Central Oregon Geocaching there are some real veterans there!
  15. Welcome Buffalow!!! I am from the Pac NW, where I got my start in geocaching. The tool the I found most usefull, besides a GPSr of course, was a DeLORME Topographic Atlas & Gazetteer which has GPS grids so that you can get an idea of where you are going. You can also use the grids to look for caches in a specific area. You can get these books at BiMart, Wal Mart, or various other locations, and they will run about $18.
  16. Ok, ok, I don't give up. Navdog, I walked ten miles in the CO badlands to get to "Bushmaster," and it remains one of my favorite and most memorable caches. My last five star "Island cache" did not require water travel at all, only a five minute, flat land stroll from my motor vehicle. Everything should be taken into consideration. Flagging is ok if your lost, but I thought research was part of the sport. Skadog
  17. I give up, have your "guidelines." I will play elsewhere!!
  18. Hold the phone! We agree on this point, we just differ on what is difficult and what is not. When I go after a five star cache that is blahhhhh, it is very disappointing to me. It's like the old saying goes, "If you can't run with the big dogs... Nobody is suggesting we throw out the standards, just that we use a little common sense. There, I said it again.
  19. Nobody is suggesting this, lets be resonable.
  20. Take out out the one star on the mountain, and that's what we've got now. Come on, get real. Anyone who knows how to operate a GPRs, and can't figure out the boat (or water wings), should not be out there. I have been on caches that I was not prepared for, but that only motivated me to return when I was prepared. And you know, those are the rewarding caches that you never forget. This is a sport based on adventure! Complaints come from over rated caches, not under rated ones. Besides, doing the homework at home is part of the adventure, and if everyone followed the guidelines, then people like me that want the adventure wouldn't know where to look. Four and five star caches should be EPIC!!!
  21. Hmmm, I fixed one with duct tape once.
  22. Where do you live that local caches keep you busy? I've walked fifteen miles for a cache or two once. I like biking too, but nothing beats my Tracker. -Skadog
