  1. Leave it to me to be the outlier - I like the first one, since the guy wires are usually invisible! :) But majority of officers likes another one, so that works for me too :)

THANK YOU RAZALAS for your talent and time to make a unique icon for all of us to enjoy :)

I prefer the first one too, but I also like the other ones :P

  2. Thank you Razalas for taking the time to propose an icon for the new categories, so quickly!

For the hourglass, I find the colors a bit dull personally. I know it's not easy to make tiny icons ... I have suggestions, but if this is not possible, the first proposal, the clearer will be very well :)

Would it also be possible to place uprights on either side of the hourglass and a more round shape of the glass? Like this form for example:

    ...

Following the suggestions here are two more attempts :)

    Hi razalas,

I've done it the same way like you (with ~~Player.Name~~) but when I played the cartridge on WhereYouGo I just saw "Earwigo". (I used earwigo to build the cartridge and have'nt published it yet.) Will there be the players name or a different value?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Ernie444,

The player.name shows the name of the user that downloaded the Cartridge from the Wherigo.com site, if the cartrige that you played on WhereYouGo was not downloaded from the site but taken from the builder it will show the default name placed by the builder. I use the Urwigo builder and the default name is "Mr. Smith".

  4. We need some new icon for the newest category Flags of the World.

Which pixel artist wants to create one?

I would say it should fit to the already existing flag icons

    Flags of Organisations flags_org.gif

    Municipal Flags flags.gif

How about the same 3 flags with a globe in the background?

    Here is my attempt:

  5. After a few hours working on it, here is an icon that seems to me well suited to the category of Dovecotes.

However, I remain open to other graphic proposals which could be put to the vote of the officers of the category.

Looks good, but it needs small changes in my opinion. We don't have perspectives (shadows etc.). The new icon should fit to the old ones. The rest is pretty good (shy, clouds, colors,..).

Lumbricus is right, here is an example of version that keeps the same style as the old ones:

  6. Hi, it sure would be nice if one of these creative geniuses could create a new icon for the Household Appliances and Presses category.

We would sincerely appreciate suggestions or perhaps even an icon.

Thank you for your consideration of this request. Barb of BK-Hunters

We would prefer it not be a press, but something representative of an antique appliance.

After taking a look at the waymarks already approved in the category, here ar my attempts to create an icon for the category:

    Spinning wheel:

    Sewing machine:

I have also tried to create an icon to the "Latin American Benchmarks" category:

  7. Hi there, need an icon for the new Spiritual Warriors. Could someone whip up one with the Maltese cross on a red background? (like the icon for the Monks of Ware group?) I would be much obliged!

    RitC.

I have tried to draw one

    Center in red:

    Center in white:

I prefer the Center in white what do you think?

  8. Hello community,

I would like to address a topic, which I noticed now in my active time in Waymarking this year.

Yesterday 8 Waymarks were declined because they did not comply with the regulations of the category. 6 Waymarks alone had been approved one day before. :( Since the given reference text did not explain to me what was wrong, I would have gladly directly contacted him.

And here we come to my request: In my opinion, it should be self-evident that you write your nickname to an "approve" or "declined" waymark. Then you could regulate the questions directly among the two affected persons.

So I had to write a well-known reviewer of this category and ask for help. The other possibility would have been that I would have asked at the re-submit in general, where the error lies. But then there is again the question, which reviewer I got, maybe not the one, which declined my waymark.

Perhaps it would be possible that in every category the leader asks his "coworkers", that they write there nicknames at least in "declined WMs", so that the contact can be established directly.

    Thank you very much.

    greets :)

    kaschper69

I have decline two of them and I have explain in the decline message what was rong and asked to fix it and resubmit.

As it is written in the category description "Any sources used, referenced, reviewed or otherwise utilized in the creation of a Wikipedia waymark shall be cited in the Long Description. ..." please fix it and resubmit. thank you.

I thought the explanation of what was needed was enough, but what we think is enough is not always the case for those who are in the onthe side :(

As Benchmark Blasterz explain if you join the group as regular member you can see who aprove or declined what waymark.

I have jut revewed some of the resubmited waymrks, I'm glad that everything has been resolved for the better :)

  9. I wanted to make this small improvements to the category before it became active, but it became active before i could do that so, i made it now.

    Here are the cahnges:

Add to "Not accepted in the Category:":

    - Any building with a red cross or red crescent on it that doesn't belongs to the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Add to "Accepted in the Category:" in the Historical Markers line:

[if a Historical Markers is about a building or monument and is next to it , it must be waymarked as a group in one waymark.]

Also two variables with drop down menu :

    Emblem:

If is a Red Cross, Red Crescent, Red Crystal or mix location?

    Type:

If is a Building, Monument, Plaque or Historical marker?

    I hope this is ok.

    Thank you.

  10. Now that the Religious Buildings Multifarious category is on and receiving waymarks I have tried to create an icon for it.

I have tried to create a generic religious building whith out using a bell tower or cross to make it more "Multifarious" and and not focused on any religion.

    Rounded top:

    Pointed top:

    What do you think?

Razales, you are so talented. Are you a graphic designer, seems we read that somewhere?

We both like the pointed top, as this is more representative of a "place of worship"

    Thank you.

I'm not a graphic designer. I just love love love Pixel Art and that retro look. :P

The pointed top one is my favorite too.

  12. How does this get from here to being a listed category we can add waymarks to?

Once the voting period is over, they result is checked by someone at Groundspeak. They reserve the final decision. This can take a couple of days. When this is over, one of the officers can switch the category to active (but I have also noticed that this happened automatically a few times in the past). So I guess it will be ready early next week.

Just to add that are some events that witch the category to active automatically, I can not specify which they are but one i have already notice.

A waymark can be submited to the category even when it is still inactive, and somewhere in this action the category goes active automatically.

    The mysteries of Wymarking :grin::lostsignal:

  13. I don't think a storage building managed by the Red Cross is interesting or informative. Also, it could be temporary, as in warehouse space needed in a disaster-stricken city that will be needed and operating for some period of time, then will close when the emergency help is not needed anymore.

Bridges or streets named for RC figures - no. I agree these should not be accepted.

Historic markers/monument dedicated to Red Cross - yes

Locations of HQs and PERMANENT RC buildings, including FORMER RC HQs & buildings - yes

Paramedic citations managed by RC - no. These could possibly go in Fire stations or may be temporary.

Red Cross blood donation centers - no. Redundant with an existing category.

    Hi Benchmark Blasterz,

Thank you for your input and help in creating this category

Yes i didn't mention former RC headquarters or other buildings but those are also accepted (except the temporary ones)

Yes I agree the temporary structures created or occupied to support a emergency, disaster or other event should not be accepted.

I have already thought about the possibility that some sites may be also waymarked in other categories, but I think it is acceptable to incorporate these in the category for a better representation of what is the Red Cross and all that it does for the good of the community

A bit like we will not exclude a church of a churches category just because it has a bell tower :bad:
