  1. I recently adopted a multi cache that is on an orienteering course and got a log from someone who couldn't do it via the official app. Is there a way to project waypoints from the app using bearing degrees and distance to set the WP's?
  2. I just remembered this http://www.gpsthegame.com/index.asp Found The one nearby, in a rotting wooden box sorta wrapped in a trash bag in the woods.
  3. We found a chirp enabled tb car today.. but we found it from the sticker and not the chirp.. what recievers are chirp enabled?
  4. Thanks for the update. Guess human nature is sort of predictable like that. Good experiment I thought, more to see what people would do. Sounded like a cool idea tho. Thanks for the updates!
  5. I was searching for a completly different subject but ran across this and read all the posts.. on my phone.. I'm curious to know how this has turned out. Its a great social experiment to see how people behave when nobody is looking. Did people leave an extra nickel for your collection? Did people dip into your stash? did people come to this cache more for the trade or for sake of logging a cache?
  6. Thanks for the response Fegan. Now I think I have another problem. I must have changed something, but now when I click to download waypoints, it wants to save them as a LOC file rather than GPX. I can't figure out how to change this setting. I think the first time it saved as GPX but while futzing around it/I switched to LOC. Any suggestions there? Or am I just not looking hard enuf? *Edit* I think I may have figured out my problem. That is, I need to download the GPX file that the query produces and sends to me via email in a ZIP file, save that to my b:garmin/gpx folder and then save those to the 400.. (I hope *Edit2* Yay!!1! I finally figured it out and got it to work. I had my destination incorrect and was storing them on my computer thinking they were being uploaded.. um, magically? Actually I think that on my computer I have a several Garmin folders and the one that was the default location was not where they needed to be going which was of course on the GPS itself. Phew. Smiles.
  7. I'm having issues entering multiple caches from a query or route or search result. I got the list of caches near the point I wanted, selected all and attempted to upload them to my 400. The first batch appeared alright, but the second, third etc are not. And when I attempted to upload the GC waypoints I have loaded on mapsource from my map60 they show up only as waypoints but not as geocaches. Whats the easy way for me to upload the gpx file? I just got this machine today and was really excited to take on a trip this weekend, but fear I'll be loading each one by hand again.
  8. Heh.. I first started when I found a Geocache button on my gps after using it for a year or so. It took me another year or two to figure out how to get the caches on my gps and months later to figure out I had to sign the physical log in the cache to count. These forums have been great for figuring out what to do. I recently joined some other local cachers on a hike and learned even more. Definately read and post questions, but join a local group and meet people face to face. There is the Washington State Geocachers Assoc and a few others. BTW... there is a local Geowoodstock mega event coming up in the area where you are sure to meet a lot of locals and people from all over. Good Luck! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d8-00038ee3e89e
  9. Thanks for the info Gatoller. I looked a lil bit for gps on my droid but not in the right spot.
  10. Looks like we're a no show. Mel got food allergy poisoned at dinner last night and isn't feeling well this morning.
  11. We actually have leashes for all three of them. And we even have poop bags.. for the dogs We may bring a third if there is room. He helped me find the mining site multi a while back and was really excited to go caching again. But he's notoriously non commital. We'll ask him tonite at dinner.
  12. Hi, my name is dug and I've gotten sorta hooked on caching and have recently gotten sucked into hiking at cougar with my girl Mel and our pack of dogs. We'd like to join up too if the 3 dogs are ok to bring with. I usually come with my own first aid kit and am proficient in the art of tick removal PS. I may also have priveleged information regarding certain 'cache maintenence issues' that may prove useful
  13. I have a few sets of camo. 1-Plumbing gear for work.. Lets me drive up to a lot of places in the big ol truck and blend into the urban landscape with the afore mentioned hardhat and vest and carharts. 2-Dog poop bags.. Lets you walk around staring at the ground and under bushes without anyone paying you any attention. Unless its out in places where dogs are allowed and expected to just crap all over the place. 2b-Dog leashes.. Lets me tramp around places under the guise of 'letting the dogs out of the car on the side of the road cuz they been in there for a couple hundred miles or so'. Same would work with kids... side of the road pee stop and without the leashes(or maybe with).
