  3. Sometimes other things are more important than the task at had. You just won't know it til you get there. All the more reason to go back! ~and as I go I love to sing my knapsack on my back~ valerie! valerah! varlerrah ha ha ha ha hah ha ha ha hah!
  4. helloe inspector gadget, how much money do you have to spend on geocaching. if you had 7k you could get this (insert promo here) for kick-ups. we got to admit it takes more than this website to get out there. People needed to have something to do besides making money. spread the wealth around I say. if you got money spend some time on a victimless, crime-less, present-time challenge with the sporty geocaching hermits who are sharing their world. Let's share! ~and as I go I love to sing my knapsack on my back~valerie
  5. The first cache I hid I posted one number upside down in the coords. Thats not even dylexic, which I'm not. I had taken a bunch of readings and still messed up. Human error. It got fixed and my cache was a hit. You'll always remember your first hide. If its too far off the FTF will let you know. And sattelites do move around and I notice that more now with my new etrex legend. I decided not to pay that much attention to the accuracy with ft when it averages 30-33. Close enough. My old garmin said if you locked in 5 Sats it was a go. Sometimes I only got 3 and that was ok too. Course, I havn't found any of these infamous geocaches yet. Just hidden a few (3). ~This is the place~
  6. Female Geocacher here. Came up with walkietalkie because I like walking and talking. I found out about geocaching talking about hiking. Havn't been the same since. What a great find! Dishwater blonde. ~This is the place~
  7. Alaska style is heading to the Hawaiian Islands for your geocaching in the winter. Look and find a coconut tree cache near a beach. ~This is the place~
  8. Bookmarked. Thanks. What an endeavor! I'll keep my eye on him for sure. ~This is the place~
  9. Hi back at yah! Sounds like your off and running amok. The joys of geocaching! ~This is the place~
  10. Hey fellow cacher looking for clues. I hear yah. After looking for the closest cache to me TWICE I am perplexed. The hint here is "big rock next to little rock". Cheese and crackers there everywhere! I even emailed a cacher who found it recently and asked for another clue. Now, this thread gives me an idea of contacting the hider and buttering him up. Either way I'm going back with fresh troops! (and a new gps, yeah ~This is the place~
  11. Awesome pics! We had a loud, approx 45 minute long, thunder and lightning storm a couple of weeks ago. It was frightening to some as we never get them. It hailed a bit, too. When it was over, clear blue sky. I thought I was in Kansas for a sec ~This is the place~
  12. I've now learned I need a good vehicle that will get me over the pass. I was content with my old get-around SW as it was, and now, after discovering geocaching, I'm going fix up my cachin rig. Geeze, if it can't get over the pass, what good is it. ~This is the place~
  13. Geoblabber: talks about Geocaching. Love the forums, I like sitting back reading about talking about geocaching. It's part of the fun. Wait til I tell yah about my first cache find. Stay tuned, sometime soon I'll be blabbing. ~This is the place~
  14. Welcome SMB! You could do a search on the Groundspeak homepage for all the caches in Alaska. Some are accessable by boat or snowmachine. I don't remember seeing any by 4-wheeler, but I wasn't looking either. This coming up winter will be my first geocaching. I'm looking forward to it as I have more time on my hands in the winter. You could also come to http://sploogen.ionichost.com/about_geo.php , an Alaskan geocaching site, and post your ideas there. ~This is the place~
  15. I had to reply. The devil made me do it! I wanna tell you all a story about a Harper Valley widowed wife Who had a teen-age daughter who attended Harper Valley jr high..... ~This is the place~

  17. I couldn't get the link to work earlier, but I think I know what caches your talking about. I've looked at all of them that I could, since discovering this wild and crazy sport! Seems some way ahead of us planted some hard ones and got us on the geocaching map. They are grandfathered in, and should never be archived, no matter how long it takes to be logged. I laugh at myself! ~This is the place~
  18. happy !!!? ~This is the place~

  20. Yeah! I just transferred some hard earned bucks to paypal so I'll have the cash-in hand to purchase a garmin legend. WHOOPIE! I'll be using the BIN on eBay. Cheaper than my local radioshack ~singing~Making a living the old hard way Taking and giving day by day Digging the snow and rain and the bright sunshine ---Caching the Line I feel fine I'm talking about peace of mind I'm gonna take my time Caching the Line La La La La La La La Caching the Line
  21. All good advise, bilder. But try to tell your feet not to run when confronted by a bear. Luckily the bruin I ran across, had just taken a **** in the woods and was full of fish taken from the near by stream, I was strolling by. I hightailed out of the area. I know, I should have backed out gracefully, but my shoes were flying, jumping and sprinting. Still not afraid of the woods. Got my lifesavers on! ~singing~Making a living the old hard way Taking and giving day by day Digging the snow and rain and the bright sunshine ---Caching the Line I feel fine I'm talking about peace of mind I'm gonna take my time Caching the Line La La La La La La La Caching the Line
  22. Didn't you ever see the hollywood movie "GI Jane"? It was funny cos she was a Navy seal. Whole different catagory. In the Navy you don't have to march, thats the difference. ~singing~Making a living the old hard way Taking and giving day by day Digging the snow and rain and the bright sunshine ---Caching the Line I feel fine I'm talking about peace of mind I'm gonna take my time Caching the Line La La La La La La La Caching the Line
  23. Don't kid ourselves, geocachers. This high tech game of hide and seek has beams bouncing off both ends. If you know where you are, THEy (whoever they is) know where you are. Like anything innovative, massly produced and readily available to you and me, has been spent, the bugs worked out and used and abused by the healthy, wealthy and advised. Lets enjoy geocaching while we can. I think we should all milk a cow, tend a garden and find where all the caches are in our lifetime. ~singing~Making a living the old hard way Taking and giving day by day Digging the snow and rain and the bright sunshine ---Caching the Line I feel fine I'm talking about peace of mind I'm gonna take my time Caching the Line La La La La La La La Caching the Line
  24. I saw that on the news, pretty cool. Since dogs are social animals, they need that. Theres a couple bars I know, that allow dogs, too. The Rainbow in Wasilla comes to mind. They serve beans & weenies free to the customers and have dog food and water bowls for our four-legged friends. In Alaska, the question isn't "what kind of dog do you have? Its more like "how many?" ~singing~Making a living the old hard way Taking and giving day by day Digging the snow and rain and the bright sunshine ---Caching the Line I feel fine I'm talking about peace of mind I'm gonna take my time Caching the Line La La La La La La La Caching the Line
  25. I got stationed at Kingsley Field, when I joined the WAF from Renton, Washington, at the tail end of the VN conflict. My dream sheet clearly stated ALL the AFBs in Florida. Good ole Linkville. What was cool was my assignment was at Keno AFS, a radar site in the Cascade Mountains with views of Crater Lake, Mt. Shasta and beyond awesome. Went to Portland with some friends to a cocktail lounge and they would'nt serve me cos I didn't have an OLCL card. So we left and walked down the street to a tavern, got in, and it just happened to be the night the Portland Trailblazers won the World Championships! FUN! This is going way back. I saw the John Wayne movie "Rooster Cogburn and the Lady" at the theatre in Klamath Falls. I stayed to watch the credits to see where it was filmed. The Deshutes in Oregon. Beautiful! Played softball in Astoria for some fun tourneys. Not native to Oregon. I'm a cheesehead born in Mad City living in beautiful Alaska now. Good to meet yah ~singing~Making a living the old hard way Taking and giving day by day Digging the snow and rain and the bright sunshine ---Caching the Line I feel fine I'm talking about peace of mind I'm gonna take my time Caching the Line La La La La La La La Caching the Line
