  1. It is my opinion that nano is not a size but a container. The micro size identifier is a film canister or smaller (give or take). StaticTank Hi StaticTank, I think you have found one of my caches in Worthing. Nice hearing from you. I understand your argument there. Thanks. I acutally agreed with your original point when I first started caching but as time has wore on I believe that there aren't many caches that can be actually be considered Nanos and that they are more of a container type than a size. Just like peanut butter contaniers are a small. I didn't realize it was you who started this post at first it is nice to chat again! Chuck Thanks for the help. Maybe the next time the wife and I are in the up there I will see if I could arrange a meeting. Till then, happy caching.
  2. This is true. It looks like a lot of thought has gone in to this.

  4. Thanks for your reply, I will have to dissagree with Groundspeak. It would be much better if that distinction were made.
  5. I am sure this topic is discussed somewhere but it is something I have wondered and have not found an answer for. The smallest size container listed is a micro. It is very difficult when looking for a nano that is listed as a micro. I think there should be another size listed on the web site to include a nano. That way everyone who cares to can go back and edit their cache size for their nanos. It would greatly help in the field if we know what we were looking for. Don't you just love it when someone hangs a nano in a big pine or cedar tree and calls it a micro. Me either.
  6. Try backdating a drop off and pickup close to your home.
  7. I would buy a colorado if it were me in hopes my 60csx would return. I too love my 60csx.
  8. I will take all of them and guarentee placement in Kansas as soon as they arrive. I think this is a fine idea considering the situation in Iraq. I would check with the owner of each before I sent them somewhere by mail first. email me for my address if you choose to do this. joeteach@cox.net
  9. You can place notes in any of my caches (all 8 :-) I think that putting clues in other caches is an excellent Idea. I don't see why anyone would mind as long as it wasn't something that took up a lot of room or was offensive.
  10. I found my first cache by using Google Earth and some common sense. Then I went out and bought my GPS. When you buy your new Colorado, enjoy the fun. The reason I said Colorado is that I would buy a Colorado if I had it to do over again. Make sure you get a good GPS. You can't go wrong with a Garmin. There are certainly cheaper GPS if you just want to try it out.
  11. I have Outlook. I have solved the problem. It was with the filters. I had multiple filters running. It seems like for every filter I got a copy of the email in the target folder. Thanks for your responses.
  12. As a Premium Member you can do a pocket query search for caches that 'Have Travel Bugs'. Unfortunately you cannot look for any more detail than that. There's no goal/mission search ability. If you Downloag GSAK from GSAK.net you can sort by many different criteria as well as create different filters one of which would be travel bugs. I would suggest becoming a premium member, creating pocket quaries, learn to open those into GSAK and enjoy the ease of this wonderful program. Oh, yes purchase GSAK, it is an excellent tool.

  14. You should never mail someone else's bug without permission. The owner released the bug with the expectation that it travel via caches. I have mail my bugs to be started in other countries which is perfectly fine, but once released you shouldn't pick up my bug and mail it to one of your buddies. Ask first. Gotcha, thanks BlueDuece
  15. Keystone, why would you drop my suggestion so quickly? Is my logic not clear or correct? I'm only trying to help. I know this is a very old thread but I am getting duplicate emails from the exact same source. I was wondering if you know of a fix. I got the same service from Groundspeak that you did. They just threw there hands up and called it an outlook problem. Why is Groundspeak the only site that I am having problems with?
  16. I am receiving duplicate copies of emails only from geocaching.com. The last time I received 5 duplicates of one of my pocket quarries. I contacted both Groundspeak and my ISP but neither offered solutions. Does anyone have any specific suggestions?
  17. I see that you do not consider mail an ok way for a bug to travel. Why is that?
  18. I would go a step further and say put the bug back as it is in another cache and leave your personal opinions out of it. I am sure it was a rational person that placed it and understood like the rest of us that it is a very small pocket knife capable of very little harm except for a possible cut used by an unsupervised child. Children can find a lot easier ways of cutting themselves. They do not have to find this knife in a hidden cache to do it. Most of them just have to go to the kitchen. Put it back or give it back. Do not damage it by dulling it. It is not yours.
  19. Could you place the bug in a location close to your home then turn around and pick it up again?
  20. Hi, I have lost the package that came with my travel bug that has the activation code one it. Is there a way I can get this activation code?
  21. That's pretty sad, really. My son has really loved some of the bugs but when it has been a little while bugs have to go back in a cache. I don't care if he had a tantrum. I would just put him in his room until he was done with the tantrum. Oh well, I guess not everyone deals with kids in the same way. Letting them keep a TB would be like looking the other way if they stuck a candybar in their pocket at the store IMHO. Great analagy
  22. I don't see that the site or the forums are confusing at all. Of course, i have been using them for quite a while now. The one thing that is confusing for me and i still have problems with, is performing a search in the forums. I don't have a whole lot of luck using this feature in that i either get no returned results or more often than not, get way too many results for it to be of any help. Now now. Its not nice to talk about people that haven't even responded in this subject... Thanks for all the responses. It has been quite a while since I started this post. I just dug in and am getting comfortable with the site now. It isn't confusing now, thanks
  23. This is exactly what I was thinking in searching for topics. It would be very nice to be able to sort by colunm heading similar to eBay or other type data bases/spread sheets. You can get a PQ of just your finds, then slice and dice them anyway you like. I am just to much a rookie to understand everything. I want to be able to sort by latest placed etc. from my zip code right on the geocaching web site. I do not understand PQ. Is that a pocket Query? I think that is what I do when I check the boxes and download a .loc file.
