  1. I have for sale a basic etrex yellow, hardly used and looks brand new, with a pc data cord with the serial end. I am also going to include an Etrex Legend as well. The yellow is cosmetically unflawed looks right out of the box. The pc cord I got with the Legend and assume it works with the yellow. I will throw in the Legend. The Legend works, but the joystick gets stuck, the rubber grip is loose and cut all the way through at the top of unit near the data port. It needs some work to be an everyday unit. I am throwing this in just to get rid of it. It works, but needs work. The yellow is impeccable. I am also throwing in the Garmin protector which clips onto your belt. All of this for $100.00 which includes shipping within the U.S. Insurance will cost a bit more. Thanks.
  2. I finally got in on one of these before it gets closed. The next post after mine I am sure will close this post.
  3. I think some multi caches have used this idea. You get the combo as you find the first few in the multi and are able to open the lock at the final cache of the multi.
  4. I think it will, but go to the cachemate website and find out. I am sure there is something there about it.
  5. Sold!! I will take that PDA for $12.05!!!!!!! Tell me where to send my money.
  6. I use a palm zire with cachemate and easy gps. When I go through the process of converting and loading them into my palm I get all the cache pages with all the information I want. His assesment sounds correct though.
  7. Ihave a Bounty Hunter Quick Draw II. I dont use it while out geocaching, but some of these areas I go are pretty good places to be using a detector. They are high traffice areas, some places are near old buildings etc... I have found from reading through some of the metal detecting fourms that the really cheap detectors are nothing but garbage. My Bounty Hunter was 223 dollars and I am pleased with it. It supposedly can find items as deep as a foot, of course that depends on the size of the item. You find much more junk than you do anything of value though. You have to be aware of that when you get into it, otherwise you will be very dissappointed. Good Luck.
  8. I use a Case Logic for my zire. It is not water proof, but I think it is pretty good with the shock resistance. I like the way the zire is secured inside compared to the crappy velcro that come in the palm cases. I got it for 14.99.
  9. How bout toilet paper? Unless you guys like rubbing it off on a rock.
  10. If any of you in Oregon know the cacher TROYERS, I would appreciate it if you could remind him to move the Jack CEO TB that I own. He picked it up on 7-5-04 and has done nothing since. Thanks for the help.
  11. I got mine at Lowes and I am sure Home Depot would have some as well.
  12. Blair Witch II had a caching scene in it. After the first night in the woods, they had to find their tapes from the video cameras. The guy finds them hidden under a wall.
  13. For the "girly" cache, you should put the phone numbers of some of those pretty girls learning to cut hair in it. I am sure that would be a big hit.
  14. I use the Palm Zire with 2mg of memory and it works great. I use cachemate as well. You cant hook the zire up to your gps and because of space I dont think you can put maps on it either. But that is what the gps is for. I would suggest a pda with at least 8mg of memorythough. The 2 mg works great and is all you need to use cachemate, but the more caches you request with your pocket queries the more space it uses and leaves little for the rest of the things you use a pda for, like addresses and phone numbers.
  15. I use my Magellan Meridian Gold for Geocaching as well as in my car driving. I like the larger screen on the Meridians. It makes it easy to see the map on the screen. I also had a Sportrak Map, and used it while driving as well. The screen size made it harder to use while driving. My suggestion is to get one with the largest screen possible and stay away from the smaller screens. Dont know anything about the Garmins. Good luck
  16. Is there a search function somewhere that I can see just where the yellow jeep tbs are?
  17. Here is one out here in Reno, Nv. that uses a deck of cards. I am not sure how the cards are used to play some sort of game. But the guy states that he checked up on his cache and saw that people are playing the game. The cache is titled 52 card pickup and the waypoint is GCJP5Y and was placed by nv4life.
  18. Are these Bruntons any good? Did they sit on your shelves because of price or because they stink?
  19. check ebay. I have found some great deals on ebay for GPS. Also, I think some line of Garmin is about $100.oo
  20. Meridian Gold user here and I consistently get to within 5 feet.
  21. I would stay away from the Sportrak maps because of the cracking problems with the casing. Magellan has done nothing to fix this flaw in that model. Other than that it is a great model. Look on ebay for some good deals as well. I bought a Meridian Green for $124 used and a brand new Meridian Gold for $177. Good luck.
  22. Now that it looks like Rocky River sold his I want to get mine back at the top of pace.
