  1. I've got a GPS and I'm not afraid to use it. or This is called a Liverpudlian standoff.
  2. Whilst GC is the slowest I have ever seen it, some other US based sites are also slower than usual, so the above post makes sense. Also, in the UK, I would say that there are more people online than our antiquated telecoms system can cope with, which means reduced bandwidth for everybody.
  3. My Jeeps have only been discovered at geocaching events. I presume the people who attend 4x4 shows are not geocachers, since the Jeep I had on display was not discovered. It will be on display again later this month (the things I have to do to get free admission )
  4. I presume a 'collectable' coin can not visit a cache?
  5. My new Geo Jeep, to replace my old Liberty. A 2007 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 2.8crd auto. No mods done to it yet, but planning on fitting a 2" lift and perhaps a spare set of wheels and 33" mud tyres. I also want to replace the euro 'armchair' bumper with a winch bumper. I still have my modded TJ to play with.
  6. Since the BBC sent a sports reporter, does that mean geocaching is now officially a sport? Will be be seeing it at the olympics sometime soon
  7. That counts me out, my hair is fast disappearing!
  8. Sorry about picture quality, I only had my lousy phone with me. At least they can't escape. Near GC24Q7E
  9. I just had to unistall this great script, owing to me hitting the litte 'x' instead of new post icon, which is right next to it!
  10. Only using a small laptop, the sticky's section fills my screen, due to each line being at least twice the size of the previous version. (I hadn't really noticed how many sticky's there were before this upgrade came along).
  11. I hate it, and the 'go to first unread post' feature doesn't work!
  12. I would say Mega events only. If the contents are discoverable, why not display them in a lockable glass case, also, print and display the tracking numbers next to them.
  13. When I released my first Garmin coin, I printed a little note which was put in the coin wallet, saying the coin wants to travel and remain in the UK (to allow the UK cachers to enter the Garmin competition). The first person to pick up the coin took it to Czech Republic
  14. Wouldn't insisting on logging by Premium Members only be considered an ALR?
  15. I've been using gps's since 1995, and was active on the gps based newsgroups. I remember reading about caching, where containers were hidden and co-ordinates were issued. I am sure this was over 10 years ago, and possibly before the error was switched off, and the site which published the coordinates was very basic (this was in the days of dial up - 56k if you were lucky). My nearest cache was about 120 miles away, so I didn't bother, and forgot about it. Most caches were in the USA. November 2007, I was walking the Stiperstones with a group, with my gps clipped to my rucksack to record the walk, when we came across a family, each with their own gps, asking if I was geocaching too? I had to google it when I got back home and saw how many caches there were now, so I registered, and found my first cache on the 1st December 2007.
  16. Taken whilst spending the weekend at Coney Farm with one of the Jeep Clubs. One of the caches I did was http://coord.info/GC28J4X, just a few hundred feet away.
  17. Not that anybody is probably interested, but the ukcachers web site was hacked into mid morning and all the files wiped (except one that they left, which has 'interesting' data in it). We are currently obtaining the ISP's access logs. Sorry to hear that. Explains why I couldn't get on the site. Please keep us informed of when it's online again.
  18. Thanks Step 7 for the reminder. The code wasn't there when I first looked.
  19. Whilst Jacaru is not predjucing any investigation by naming any suspects, some of us have already jumped to conclusions. I hope we are wrong. It shows how important it is to use different passwords for different sites, just in case one gets hacked and passwords are read. It is all too easy to use one password for many sites (basic human nature).
  20. I couldn't find any video to watch or competition code on the websites they provide either
  21. One of my Garmin coins was picked up by TheGrimkniffs at the Weston-Super-Mare Mega, and despite me emailing them, it has not been moved on. They are still caching (sporadically). I have even offered to pay for postage so it could be returned to me. Another of my coins was picked up by an American, in Italy nearly 2 years ago. I think he might have lost it since it has not been moved on as well. Again, I've had no answer to my emails
  22. I hope Jacaru doesn't mind, but I copied the pic to my webspace, to allow others to see it, at least for a few weeks.
  23. Warning to those who are going to the Pyrenees: http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/189348...ng-for-ramblers
  24. I went to have a look at their forum, but it is only open to registered users. What are they trying to hide? Most clubs I'm a member of either have public forums or at least some forum topics which can be read by the public. I only have a finite of time to visit forums, so the better ones take priority. Their homepage looks good, and if they open up access (even read only) to the forums, I will revisit the site.
