  1. Would it be possible to have a link to a map or maps showing where the attendees to a Mega event have come from. Only countries need to be shaded (not towns), perhaps the colour/shade dependant on the number. I assume it should be possible to get the country information from the cacher profile. I would suggest only for Mega events, although it could be extended to other events where logged attendance exceeds a certain number. I would extend the idea to include US states as well since that would be more relevant to US cachers. I only suggest this as I am curious to where the cachers who attended a recent Mega have travelled from, and know we had many visitors from other European countries to the UK Mega.
  2. Bringing this back to the top, although it is being ignored by GS.
  3. Germany has 16 souvenirs, Ireland has 5, yet the UK, consisting of 4 separate countries (perhaps equivalent to the USA states) only has one!!! And that is only suitable for London caches. And to make matters worse, some cachers have to pay an extra 25% for their premium memberships!
  4. What a waste of 31 souvenirs! Just think, we could have had 31 new countries issued with souvenirs instead. Especially since the UK consisting of 4 countries has only one souvenir, yet Germany has several.
  5. Log a Needs Archiving for them, and the reviewers will give the cache owner up to 2 weeks to respond before archiving.
  6. I have 2 souvenirs from a trip to Hamburg, Germany, yet only one for the whole of the UK! You are expecting us to pay more for our membership, so please at least provide us with some extra souvenirs!!!
  7. I agree it would be nice to see if I have already discovered a coin/TB before, but at least multiple logs don't affect your stats unlike with caches. It would be good to see when you last discovered etc... the coin/TB, especially in the smartphone apps, so I don't deny another cacher the opportunity of helping the TB at an event or collecting the icon/badge.
  8. Bringing this back to the top of the page, even though Groundspeak are ignoring the issue.
  9. I do use the map enhancement on my PC using Chrome or FireFox, but my problem is when I'm not at home or work and need to use the iPad to visit the website. I don't think there are any addons for Safari yet.
  10. I find the maps available using Safari are a waste of time in the UK. We do not have any working satellite maps available. Even Apple maps would be better than what we have to use at the moment!
  11. Not only is it slow - it's dead (at least the maps are)! I managed to get to my profile and download my PQ, but the maps are unusable which makes it difficult to plan some walks for today (and this was before USA was online).
  12. I miss not seeing a list of all the events in the UK in the weekly email. Now I just get a useless random selection, and not many of those either! Where can I find a list of all the events. I do like to plan ahead.
  13. I don't know if it is linked, but I can't click on any geocaches, regardless of which map I choose to use OS maps display fine though
  14. It seems to be operational now! Make friends with somebody from the Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey or Gibralter, since they are not part of the EU and will be charged in US dollars.
  15. Just done some checking on the renewals page, and they correctly identify non EU european countries as paying in dollars. For the english speakers, Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey and Gibralter are not part of the EU. Make friends with somebody from one of those regions and get them to pay for the subscription. I know that Norway and Switzerland are also not part of the EU and are therefore charged in dollars.
  16. We could always get the national press to do a feature on how this increasingly popular hobby is now cashing in on Rip Off Britain. There are also plenty of consumer programmes on TV who could look into this, and compare Groundspeak to other organisations which exist for caching (and other unmentionable hi tech hobbies). If Grounspeak continue to alienate there foreign customers, I'm sure the other caching organisations will capitalise on this, and we just might see some real competition. I don't wish to see GS withdraw from Europe, but I've not had a payrise for the last 8 years (like many others over here), so can not afford the planned increase. I've already made cutbacks on too many hobbies as it is to try and pay for essentials.
  17. I haven't seen the Jeep TB for a while, but my Jeeps are trackable, with the code from a THX4TC geocoin - http://coord.info/TB1X0G5 on one of them.
  18. Why can't I choose to pay in US dollars? If I were to renew my premium membership, I would have to pay £24.99, but if I payed in dollars, I would only be paying less than £20 (inlcuding fees). I am seriously considering not renewing on principal, since I will not support any company who tries to rip off their UK (and other countries) customers. Please give us the option to pay in US dollars, without having to supply a US address.
  19. I'm in the wrong line of work I recently looked at various engraving machines, and would need to spend over £1k for a small machine, and tags seem to cost upto £2. I would have to sell a lot of personalised coins/tags to recoup the investment.
  20. From my experience of H&S and UK law (10 years ago), a landowner is responsible for all persons (invited or otherwise) who enters their property. This means that a burglar who trips over whilst wondering around your home in the dark can sue you!
  21. Walking up (and down) Dovedale last weekend, and doing the earthcaches as well, we saw this money tree: This is a close up:
  22. I wouldn't be suprised to find the cache does not actually exist, and is just used to 'hold' trackables so they are not in the cachers inventory.
  23. I wasn't into geoacaching in the early days of GPS, but I do remember using his mapping software with custom maps and GPS tracking (long before nRoute and Memory Map).
  24. Perhaps somebody in BT likes quality / decent sized caches, and this is their attempt to reduce the number of nanos
  25. Perhaps GS need to add a 'last activity' field as well.
