  1. I tend to hit the forums about 3 times per week to see what the latest is. Have posted only a few times. Lately it seems safer to lurk so you can say I am a lurker
  2. I want to try to get a TB to the Tysvær area of Norway specifically the Erland Farm area. Can anyone guide me to a listing of Caches for Rogaland County or Tysvær?
  3. Thanks. I have downloaded the program and am trying along with the others. quote:Originally posted by Cache Viking:Is there a way to go straight from EasyGPS into Mapsource? So far I have been going into and out of my GPSR. Thanks for any help you can offer.

  5. "The_Rocks" thanks for the Stash Notes and Download link. quote:Originally posted by The_Rocks:I have put a couple of different ones together and posted them on the web. Please feel free to use them...since I got the ideas from you guys anyway. 6. I totaly approve of the CWL laws tht most states now have and of which we do not have here in CA but even then I thought Cache Hunting was supposed to be fun. Where do you all Cache for this subject to keep coming up?
  7. Wow what a question. I myself find a hike anything upto an entire day and doesn't require overnight supplies and a backpack. My favorite hike which I have done a good dozen times at least is in Yosemite. Valley to top of Halfdome, 8.5 miles in, 8.5 miles out with 5000 foot elevation gain. This is about the outside of a single days event for me. My kids now 5 & 8 pull about 3-5 miles as long as the area is fun and they have food. So I am a few years off from another all day Halfdome run.
  8. Lots of good comments below. I have only once in my hunts of which are maybe 20 at this point felt threatened so I simply left to come another day with others. In this case I was probably right on the cache but with one push of the tree limb there was this make shift shelter with no one home or so I thought. Just then this trogladite comes from beyond hollering to leave his stuff alone. So to avoid any problems I left intending to return with others. Did see that a few days later someone did log a find so the cache seems to be safe still. As for CWL I am a supporter but the adventure of caching is supposed to be fun and packing seems to be going to far.
  9. I mountain bike alot and am now on my second Camelback. I have put everything in mine sandwiches, snacks, my GPS and even cameras not to mention all the bike related stuff. Never had anything come out damp in any way except when rained on for long period of time.
  10. I am of Norwegian Descent and have shelves full of books on Vikings and figurines of Vikings. Another hobby of mine is genealogy and I have traced my Norse line back to 1580's, but no Vikings found
  11. Wow 9 GPS units and to think my wife just gave me that look when I replaced my III+ with a V. She was OK with it when she heard I had already sold the III+ . I think I will have the V for a bit.
  12. Identify the owning agency of the bridge ie. City County State and contact the respective person ie. City Engineer, County Surveyor or State Highway Department. Often a bridge only comes out to be replaced by another in which case the new one was most likely designed using the Bench Mark as it was intended to be and the responsible agency is then aware of it as Bench Marks used for design are referenced on the plan. In many cases there is no requirement to replace it and a temporary was established for construction use.
  13. I have a Garmin V that replaced my III+. I use both the Mapsource City select and Topo when mountain biking or hiking. Contours could be better but definatly get the job done. I will continue using the Topo and plan on buying the new Western Parks with routable trails.
  14. I started with a Garmin III+ and sold it to a friend who I introduced to Geocaching and then bought a Garmin V. I definately like the V over the III+. Have National Geographic Topos as well as Mapsource Topo and North America City Select. Plan on buying new Western Parks Mapsource. Units are also used regularly on my mountain bike and in my truck.
  15. Thanks. Problem solved. Monster Hard drive and I like the idea of loading disk on hard drive and reloading from there.
  16. I have the Garmin Mapsource program and a Garmin GPS V. I have a file with existing points and routes for soon to be vacation and want to add some Cach points to the file. I have 3 in the GPS but can't get them in with the others in the Mapsource file without it creating a new file. Any ideas on adding the points. Help appreciated.
