  1. Generally when you are logged in and you have found a cache the default icon is replaced with a smiley face. But I have noticed recently that having been logged on for a while, on an area screen display, the smiley icons have reverted back to the default icon. Note, on the top right of the screen the system still recognises that you are logged in, with your name. Screen refresh does not address the status. You must navigate away from the overview screen and then back for the smiley icon reappear ? Its a sad day when you blink and lose your smiley face icons.
  2. I have a HTC Desire, and now have Wherigo working. 1) Download the 'WhereYouGo' from the Android Market. If you run the app it will say no file found at " mnt/sdcard/whereyougo/ ". This is misleading for the Desire user - so IGNORE. 2) Connect your Desire to the PC via USB. Link as an external drive 3) Download the cartridge, and save to the exernal drives' WhereYouGo folder. Thats it !! Now start the app and you, and the WhereYouGo app, should see the cartridge(s) that you downloaded. Enjoy
  3. Previously I was able to double click on the lower of the two maps of a specific cache. This would open a large area map which would show other caches in the immediate area of the initial cache that you were browsing. This was most useful when planning a route. But either a GeoCaching update or my change to Mozilla browser has removed this useful facility. Q: Was it a GeoCaching update? Q: Mozilla browser does not allow that functionality? If so is there another way or do I need to go back to IE7 or 8? Mike (OnHisBike)
  4. Wherigos a cheap start required? As was stated the biggest barrier to Wherigo is buying new/other hardware. My Palm TX does not work with wherigos, and I recently blew my budget getting a Samsung NC10. So I cannot justify another spend for the 2 local wherigos. I have not read much about emulators? Netbooks are small enough to carry about for a Wherigo 2-3 hour game. I have a GPSr which I use bluetoothed with Memory Map on the netbook, so that combination works. I have downloaded the Pocket PC emulator and tried the test Wherigo but it does not recognise my 50m required movement (even after miles in the car). Questions Is this the wrong emulator to use ? Does Wherigo recognise a bluetoothed signal or must it be hard wired ? Do I need an Internet connection ? OnHisBike Aug 2009
  5. Thanks for that Chuy! - and a good idea about downloading the manual, I will do that now.
  6. I am interested in the Garmin Legend. Can someone advise what sort of information can I expect on the basic (Europe) mapping. Does it show contours (10m?) and features like streams etc or is it just roads and tracks. Also the description for a waypoint how many characters long. (I found my old eTrex limiting with only 6 chars, I expect it may be the same)
  7. Hi, I have had a basic Garmin eTrex for many years and I have only just started geocaching. Unfortunately when I was on holiday my rucksack was stolen and my Garmin was in the rucksack. Anyway I am now looking for a new device - I want to stay with Garmin but I am confused with the scope of devices :- Summit, Legend, Venture, Vista (too expensive) and GPSMAP, and no real descriptions about the groups the models are targeted. I am settling towards the Legend or the GPSMAP 60. But, I read one spec that said the Legend did not have a electronic compass. It has, I believe, a navigation screen. Is it that you must be moving for it to calculate North and your target - therefore it cannot be called a compass ? Secondly, what is a muggler?
