  1. Now - to be on topic. OP -- there are a large proportion of people on this website who don't even live in the USA, have no idea what a Cracker Barrell establishment looks or tastes like and would have no reason to even want to put a cache on the front porch of such an establishment anyway, so don't really care either way whether such caches are allowed or not. So I'd hazard a guess that they would not support a boycott. Annie I live in the US and have never even seen a Cracker Barrel... However I would never frequent one because they have so often been so discriminatory.
  2. Hi! Congratulations! I wasn't a cacher when either of my children were that young, but I was a hiker (and still am). I'd often load the baby into the Baby Bjorn and take the dogs out for a hike, just to keep my sanity. I highly suggest getting out often either with the baby or by yourself. It was really important to my sanity for me to do so. Sounds like you need it too!
  3. I am still new to the hobby - but that quote makes me giggle every time
  4. Wooden nickels aren't my thing, personally, but I've seen some clever ones. Pick something that makes you happy and enjoy. My solution to swag problems is to leave the cache better stocked than I found it whenever possible. I pick things my children like, figuring other people's children will like them too. Happy caching!
  5. And my point is your sorry tale of woe had nothing to do with this thread. Read the initial post and what the OP was asking and what the thread discussion was about. Why you felt you needed to include in this thread is still a question. It had nothing to do with the discussion but, once again as every LEO has heard, some tale of woe about how someone felt they were pitifully mistreated. I've always found it best to leave moderating in the hands of the moderators. Much like leaving law enforcement in the hands of police officers.
  6. Thanks, Miragee, for letting me know. I haven't had any issues between Groundspeak and Hotmail until now. I just received one of my email notifications, several hours late (a cacher finding one of my hides). I usually get these instantaneously. So, yes, it appears to be on the hotmail end (if it were on the Groundspeak end I am guessing I wouldn't get the emails at all, or there would be plenty more people on the forums wondering where there emails were).
  7. Good (and relevant) question - it's not an email tied to an ISP. Rather it's hotmail, and while it is not always the fastest it's pretty reliable.
  8. Maybe I am misunderstanding. It seems like the best solution is to attach a travel bug tag to the hot wheels car so you can watch it travel?
  9. I had a new cache published this week - and didn't receive the notification. And, someone found one of my caches yesterday - and I didn't get the found email. I checked my junk mail filter; no dice. Suggestions? Seems like both of these emails should have been automatic, right?
  10. I disagree. I will continue to use my brain as I avoid using toxic chemicals in my home and on my body. When it comes to ticks, the best solution for me is a thorough tick check at the end of a day spent outside. Tick borne diseases are (generally speaking) transmitted after the tick has attached to the host for many hours. Manually removing ticks is a viable alternative to using pesticides. Happy earth day!
  11. Hi! If you don't know how to change a tube, ask your bike shop employees to walk you through it. It's a piece of cake! Pardon me for butting in if you already know how. I hope you get back on the trail soon.
  12. His post was 100% accurate. Leave him alone. FYI, Keystone and this person, the Leps, are the same person. and if anyone wants to know, they got some great caches around here. One of them took me a year and a half to find Thanks, Keruso, for letting a newb in on the joke! I appreciate it.
  13. btgeocacher, your app sounds VERY promising! I will be interested in your software come June. Until then, I am keeping my iPhone free of third-party apps. My first iPhone died within 2 months of purchase, and the genius at the genius bar gave me a new phone after 14 seconds of diagnostics. I want to keep my warranty intact, just in case this should happen again. Until then, I am finding it easy enough to either use Safari in the field to look up the cache info for hints, or to copy and paste the cache listing into an email and sent it to myself.
  14. Hey, diverrk, I would look at this as part of the game (and part of the fun) of geocaching. Make rehiding the cache a fun event with your children - they will dig it. Maybe you can even convince them to do the nearby puzzle cache with you so you can identify the problem? I can only imagine that the reviewers are swamped here in the NE now that the good weather is here! I am certain you will hear back from Pofe soon. Happy caching and good luck with getting this resolved!
  15. I suspect it's part of the culture of this board. I applaud you for asking the question! I am fairly new (50 finds) and if I were caching with my children and I didn't like the theme, I'd skip it. If I were caching solo, I'd sign the log if the hide looked interesting and TNLN. Welcome to the game! I hope you are loving it.
  16. His post was 100% accurate. Leave him alone. All depends on which style book you follow A sense of humor often helps when reading others' posts.
  17. Are you now accusing Keystone of having multiple personality disorder???
  18. I am sure this must be posted somewhere - can you help me find it? I want to add a picture to my travel bug's page. Thanks!
  19. Maybe you could very kindly put together an email (not a log) to contact the cache owner with some of your observations.
  20. Again - a kind thank you to all of you for your insight & your thoughtful replies!
  21. I am really sorry this happened to you. I agree with PrincessB - as I was reading your story I kept saying (to myself) "CALL 911!" Are you ok? How about your girlfriend?
  22. Thanks, DanTheMan, for sharing this easy and elegant solution. I've been calling up cache pages via Safari on my iPhone when necessary which takes longer than a slow boat to Hades. I like this approach and will use it next time I go caching.
  23. Thanks to all of you for sharing information & opinions (and so kindly, might I add). I have been struggling with an idea for a multi, and it was an epiphany this morning: the theme, the hides, the final. I am so excited to scout out this series and get it started! More opinions welcome, of course.
