  1. Not been updated in a while?? I think this app has been updated more than any other app on my phone lately. It just had another update yesterday. I don't know where you are getting your info, but it's obviously wrong. I'm finding that the official app has a bit of a flaw or perhaps it's me. When I download and list PQs then select show on map, nothing happens. It would be nice to see them on the map instead of just as a list.Hopefully it will be fixed next update.
  2. Yes, you can keyword search. If you are in 'Targets' mode there is a small field at the bottom you can type in a keyword and it lists the matching caches. Good Luck! Rob rtmlee Awesome! I tried downloading the CacheMate trial last night and was quite pleased with the test gpx file I converted with the Mac conversion tool. I love that my Handspring is getting its second wind after 4 years of collecting dust in my closet! I'll hopefully get a chance to try GeoNiche tonight. The one thing I noticed CacheMate didn't have, which would be rather helpful, is the ability to search waypoints/cache names. The only search it offers is by coordinates. Does GeoNiche offer that? I quite appreciate both the help and the offering of the companion board. Considering how reliable the 60CSx has been for me, keeping the Handspring as lightweight and long-lasting as possible as a simple cache info viewer is all I'm looking for.
  3. I used to use a Visor Pro then Visor Prism as my primary GPSr using a Magellan GPS Companion springboard module and GeoNiche. This worked well for me in the beginning but had limited mapping. I still use GeoNiche on a Palm TX with a bluetooth GPSr in addition to my primary GPSr (Meridian Color). Some people prefer CacheMAte but I love GeoNiche. Not only will it help point you to the cache, it will store all the data about the cache including logs if you want. It is not necessary to use it with a GPSr, but I prefer to. GeoNice comes with its own conversion tool, EasyNiche which convert gpx files to pdb file to be loaded into you Visor. By the way, I no longer use the Companion GPSr, so if you want it, it's yours. You can check out GeoNiche here: www.raydarllc.com
  4. There are several programs you can use to manage/download waypoints from your Mac. I use MacCaching http://www.maccaching.com/ to connect my Magellan Color. I also use GeoNiche on my Palm TX. MacSimpleGPS is another good program for managing waypoints. Give them a try. Rob rtmlee
  5. My 2 cents.... I've been using a Meridian Color for about 3 yeas now. It has been a solid GPSr from day one. I've and 2 issues in that time. The serial cable went bad and had to be replaced. Got one off eBay for $7. I took the unit apart to remove what I thought was a piece of lint behind the acrylic screen protector. Upon reassembling it I cracked the LCD. #$*&^%@!!!!! Mailed it off to Magellan and they replaced the LCD and the acrylic screen (scratched up over the years) for $100. I use MapSend TOPO and it rocks! I also have a bluetooth GPSr that I use with my Palm TX running Geoniche which I find very useful. All that said, I've never owned a Garmin but I hear good things about them. They now have a pretty close relationship with Groundspeak which means there could be some convenience factors they will have over Magellan. But my Meridian Color has never steered me wrong.
