  1. Managed to get some waypoints and tracks, though didn't get anywhere near the Geocaches!
  2. There are Hundreds of thousands of penguins there! Rockhoppers, Maccaronis, Kings, Gentoos, Magellanics and the odd stray, erect crested. Oh and half a million black browed albatrosses! Landmines placed by the Argentinians... soon to be removed under the international land mine clearance despite the fact that all the mine fields are marked and pose no danger to anyone.... even sheep may safely graze! Geocaches - Probably local placements. Kate
  3. There are two in the Falklands, though I didn't have opportunity to check them out in October. One is at Teal Inlet, Easy, and one is at Albermale harbour, not so easy. Tho only thing out there to nick them would be the Striated Caracaras or Joyy Rooks. Not sure if sheep would eat them! All mine fields are marked! I think they are placed by locals. KATE
  4. Thanks, hopefully It would have moved over 8,000 miles when it turn it on in the falklands! Kate
  5. Many thanks for the information. I will set it to WSG84. I don't have any OS maps (yes they are made by good ole OS) yet but will see what they use. My overall maps show Long/lat. Also, thanks for relocating my message, as I can see, I am only a tadpole on this site! LOL Thanks! Kate
  6. Going to try and bag this one in October!!! Am out there for two weeks looking at plants & penguins. BTW anyone know how to sent my Garmin Etrex to Falklands datum pls?? Kate
  7. Helloo! I am off to the Falklands in a few weeks and want to use my GPS, a Garmin Etrex (2002) to record data and hopefully look for one of the two Geocaches on the Islands. Can somebody advise how to set up my GPS to the Falklands, which I think is UTM. There is a setting for Ascension Island but nothing for the Falklands as far as I can find unless it is called something else! Many thanks Kate
