  1. In GSAK under the heading GPS - choose SEND WAYPOINT - then in the space for waypoint name can make the change to %code to change to GCXXXX format. If you want to leave name and just be able to reference the GCXXXX format, I think you will need to add %code to the WAYPOINT DESCRIPTION FORMAT a little lower on the page. In this area mine says: %con1 %typ1 %crypt - so the info I get on my 60cs is the container, cache type, and crypted hint. Hope this helps! Shelly
  2. I had a similar problem. I bought a used palm on ebay and didn't notice that the hotsync cradles that came with it were for a serial connection. Our new computer doesn't have a serial port. Since I just couldn't wait to play with the palm, I hooked it up to the old computer - and ordered a USB hotsync cradle. When I got the USB cradle and hooked it up on the other computer, I had the same problem you are having. The only difference I could think of between setting up the palm on the two computers was when I attached the serial cable to the computer the computer was off - and I attached the USB cable with the computer on. I was so frustrated with things not working, I gave up and uninstalled all the palm software and started over - this time turning off the computer to connect the hotsync cradle. The first time I pushed the hotsync button it worked like a charm! Good Luck... Shelly
  3. Thanks Motley Crew, I'd have never figured that out without your help! It seems so simple now... Thanks Again, Shelly
  4. I would like to see the hint on my Garmin 60cs - I've read the FAQ's as mentioned on the third page of this thread and see that I need to add the special tag in the "cache description format"... Where in the world is the "cache description format"? Feeling a little stupid here - would appreciate a quick "cache description 101 lesson". Thanks, Shelly
  5. My husband bought himself a Garmin 120 for Christmas - and thanked me for getting him exactly what he wanted. He wanted it for the radio feature for hunting with his buddies. Shortly after I read an article in Via magazine, put out by AAA, about geocaching. I showed him the article - and he said "there can't be any around here". A few weeks later when he finally got around to checking - he put in our zip - and several came up - the first one he looked at was called "Burned Tree". When he looked at the cache he couldn't believe it... long story - short: the cache is on my brother in laws farm. The cache page is full of theories about how the tree got to its current state. The truth about the tree is that he was burning the edge of the field as he has done many times before, and for some reason this time the old dead tree caught fire. He called the fire department and told them that what was going on - and that every thing was under control - just to let them know in case someone else called in the suspicious smoke. Well, about as quick as he was off the phone a fire crew capable of dousing a forest fire was there. He was humiliated! He still hasn't lived that one down. Needless to say we had to let him know that his tree was famous on a much bigger level! The cache now has permission to be there, and we've been caching every since.
  6. We were out hiking this weekend for the opening day of the deer hunt - our goal was to hike up to some big cliffs and find a spot to sit and watch the valley below while our buddies went around the ridge on their horses. My husband is known as a "mountain goat" for his hiking ability, me, I just trail behind. He made it up on top of the cliffs and waited for me. Pretty soon he says "hurry this is so cool up here you'll never believe it". What it was - was right on the top of this huge boulder was a big, crystal clear, pool of water about the size of a jaccuzzi. I bent over to look and - plunk! There went the garmin 120 right out of my pocket! We could clearly see it was still working under about a foot and a half of water. So with some creativity we managed to get it out - and it's no worse for the adventure, not even a scratch. If it would have been even slightly less desolate it would have made for an awesome cache site. As for me - it's going to be hard to live this one down. SC (one of the Three C's)
