  1. I've looked at the tables on my 60CS. How long does it take to load them on your 60CSx? sometimes on the 60CS it can take over 30 seconds to draw the chart.
  2. Has anybody else had major issues installing their invisible shield before? I bought the one for my 60CS and got it today. first instruction is cover your hands in their soapy water/oil and peel the paper off. right away the paper breaks and I'm left with a super thin layer of paper on the lens.. 20 minutes later I finally had the paper seperated. Then I try to apply it to the gps, glue grabs instantly on contact, no way to slide it around and adjust the position (I had a soaking amount of their spray on it) got sick of this not working after 5 tries.. and out of fluid. soaked the plastic lens and got about 90% of the adhesive removed, mixed up my own soap/water mix for vinyl graphics, 2nd try I got it on and almost all the air bubbles out. Has anybody else had such an extreme battle to get this thing on their gps? It worked great once I quit following the instructions.
  3. My screen was horribly scratched and you could feel the scratches all over. So bad that you could barely read the screen through the scratches when in direct sunlight. So, first I tried PlastX.. like 6 coats, made little to no difference, then I tried some car polish (Sonus SFX-1) and still no difference. So I tried a dremel at 5000rpm with the sfx-1, took off a tiny bit of the top layer, still no real improvement. Finally, I tried what I thought would either work or destroy my lens, wet sanding. Used some 2000 grit and polished off the top layer of the lens. There seems to be a top soft layer that can't really be sanded, scars up horribly. But, I found underneath is a higer quality plastic that scuffs very little when sanded. It took me almost 3 full hours to sand the lens down to this layer. I then did 2 coats of PlastX applied by hand and now the lens is almost perfect. The lens looks practically new! The only issue is the lens has ripples in it (only viewable from almost a 90 degree angle to the screen. Side effect of uneven polishing by hand. Now that I have removed the soft plastic, I am pretty sure I will need one of those invisible shields for the rest of the unit's life. So, if you have a scratched up lens on your 60 series unit, it is possible to get them out, it just requires many hours of work.
  4. at least on my gpsmap 60 it uses a standard mini-usb connector http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&...sa=N&tab=wi most computer stores sell these. they are also sometimes included with: cellphones, usb card readers, digital cameras. like the previous poster mentioned, should ideally be $5 or less, I have 3 of them from all the tech junk I've bought
  5. scratched up lens cover. but I solved it! this thread can be deleted.
  6. there is always the option of cracking the case and replacing those metal plates with something generic that is about the same shape. If you know how to solder it shouldn't be that bad of a fix. and a 76csx is pretty new still, worth fixing it.
  7. btw offroad routing is actually a great circle distance calculation, although you wouldn't notice this unless you route over 100 miles in a straight line. In mapsource try routing from california to new york and you'll see how it creates an arc instead of a straight line.
