  1. Ok, this isn't a road sign per se, but not all of them in this thread have been so I'm going with that. Saw this while doing a nearby virtual. You know that if they have to post it....it's been done.
  2. Good call. I went that route a while ago, too. It irks me a bit when I leave a bunch of cool items or coins in caches and somebody follows in your footsteps only to take them all. I'm sure one was kept and the others were sold and traded but I prefer to have people find them in the wild - out of my control, I know but I can wish... A while back I went on a trip and went caching in a new state where I dropped a lot of local coins, personal coins, sig items, etc. and somebody went back after I was there and pretty much cleaned it all out without so much as a mention in the logs (sigh).
  3. Not necessarily in order Moun10bike V1 Moun10bike V2 Worker of Wood Yemon Yime Old School C&P's Compass Rose series GeoNap BlazerFan Midwest Geobash 2005 LFD Geobone orignal Mausion Most of these are old and aren't as "flashy" as some of the stuff today but all hold some significance or personal meaning to me (and some are very HTF).
  4. Cool, will do. Now if I could only get back up there to do some more caching.....sigh. Nice job again gang.
  5. You need to login. If you are not logged in you will not see coords
  6. Nice. Trying to login but I can't recall my password for that site. I tried the "don't remember your password" option but it says: "Sorry, we don't have a member with that name in our records, please try again and double check the data you entered." Should I just create a new one? It looks like the boards have changed since I've been there last (and my membership is likely way past expired). Question: I notice the East region is lilac - likely for the flower. Are the other chapter colors significant as well? Thanks!
  7. Amen brother. I was going to say the exact same thing.
  8. You should have named it the PNW Hat Trick! I just need to make a trip to the O.S. to complete it.
  9. Good call. I'm local to you but we haven't crossed paths yet. There's a local cacher who is owner of a local pub and is known to occasionally leave coupons good for either a beer or root beer (depending on who redeems).
  10. I've been on both sides of this one. I've left many FTF prizes in the past and been a recipient of a few as well (including the one from the OP on this page oddly enough). It's always a nice surprise, but it's certainly not needed. Some of my favorite ones are the little handmade things - certificates, plastic trophies, ribbons, etc. I've used coins, TBs, gift cards, etc. and it's usually a function of hard the cache is. If it's an easy cache, I typically won't leave anything, but something that requires more effort or a hike to get to I may leave something nice for the first person. It comes down to personal choice so don't feel like there is a wrong way or right way to handle this.
  11. Yep, lots of them. I have to agree with the others who don't like copies/proxies/fakes - it's just not the same. I won't move a copy as it just doesn't feel the same. I do go hunting for coins, but enjoy them when I find them. I've seen a number of copies and it's never exciting.
  12. This thread reminded me that I needed to track down some of my coins that haven't moved lately. I sent some emails out last night and thought I would share some replies. These coins showed as being in someone's posession for 30+ days:
  13. I do this as well and get the same results from nice emails. Although not even a tag helps in all cases. One of my coins is tagged with a laminated sheet stating it's goal to hit all counties in California. Somebody picked it up and took it to Oregon They do go missing, however you'd be surprised by how many times I get email replies to my inquiries about coins that say something like "Sorry, I forgot we had it. We'll drop it ASAP!". It's a risk we take when we set them free. Yes they cost money and it sucks when they go missing, but your choices are either to not set them free at all, or to take the risk.
  14. But why would you ignore the wishes of the owner just because it's something that you like to do?
  15. Got ours today, safe and sound. You've got email from me old buddy.
  16. Best advice. If you didn't know, no harm done and I'm sure the deletion wasn't malicious so don't take it personally (if you did). It's just like a cache - make sure to read the page before taking action. But in the overall scheme of things, don't sweat it.
  17. Lazy armchair cacher. Generally, yes. I've seen 2 (I think) that actually had a reason for a cache besides "I want to have a cache in my yard". Oddly enough, I've done that one since I work across the street. I had a LEO Geocoin and that seemed like the perfect place to start it. Amen. I don't have issues with meeting people or feeling awkward, it just doesn't seem like a great place for a cache.
  18. Actually, the brackets won't work. He's looking to post the picture in his profile which uses HTML, not on the forums which use the BB (?) code.
  19. I *think* Flickr requires a password to see images. What I see on the page is just this: img src=http://www.flickr.com/photos/34759783@N05/3230538786 It should look exactly like this: <img src="http://www.flickr.com/photos/34759783@N05/3230538786"> edit to add: I just tried using that URL and can't see the image when I create an HTML page, so it must be a limit from Flickr that you must be signed in. Trying another free image hosting site like Photobucket or Imageshack with the code above.
  20. Once you've uploaded the image to Flickr (or imageshack, etc.) you should have a URL for your photo. That URL needs to be entered via HTML code like below: <img src="url">
  21. Still prefer the long hikes with a good view like this recent outing:
  22. Not playing, but I couldn't resist opening the thread based on the title!
  23. A number of people have emailed me or contacted me through eBay regarding shipping internationally. Sorry, but I set this up as US only so the best I can suggest for non-US folks is to have a friend in the US buy it for you and have them ship it to you. Auction ends tonight.
  24. A bit off the orignal topic, but related in terms of learning. On your cache page it says: This is typically frowned upon and looked at as a TB/Geocoin prison. TBs and Geocoins are menat to be moved and are not part of the "trade even" philosophy. The owners of said items expect their items to be moved along without resrtictions of having to trade for it since you can't keep it. To ask somebody to trade for something that isn't yours isn't fair. I hope you see this as educational and not an attack. Congrats on getting published!
